Hi Guys and Guyesses, just wondering if anybody else keeps getting chucked out
of messenger when in facebook or just using messenger itself. It has been fine

iTunes 12.7 and Music Sync post iOS 11 upgrade

2017-10-06 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Folks,

I've been following the posts about how iTunes 12.7 works differently than
the previous version in this post-iOS 11 environment. I think I've gotten
the gist of what's needed with ringtones. However, I'm a bit perplexed why
anything would have changed with music. Music isn't ringtones or apps so I
would have thought that my music syncing would rock along with iTunes 12.7
much as it did with iTunes 12.6.x.

When I connect my iPhone to my computer and navigate below the device
summary listing to music, the panel to the right where it used to display my
playlists with checkboxes for those I had marked to sync now shows the
following:

A Sync Music heading with an unchecked box next to it followed by two radio
buttons the first which says entire music library and announces false since
it is not marked and the second which says selected playlists and announces
true. The odd thing is that this section is dimmed and neither of these
radio buttons can be changed. If I tick the box next to the Sync Music
heading in order to hopefully review my playlists marked for syncing, I get
a question along the lines of are you sure you want to remove existing music
from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?

I don't ever remember iTunes behaving like this and before proceeding with
the Sync music action, I wanted to run this by folks here for comments. I
guess Apple is trying to protect those who are connecting their devices
containing content from sources other than the connected computer in order
to warn them that performing a sync will delete that content. I'm more than
a bit confused with this since I would think such an action would be an
exception rather than the rule and this seems confusing to those of us who
simply have upgraded our iOS and iTunes and are syncing our iPhones as we've
always done. It sort of feels as if I'm having to start the process over to
sync my existing playlists with my iPhone in the iOS 11 world. I'm just a
bit nervous about proceeding since my playlists aren't showing in iTunes
even though the ones on my iPhone are still the same. And I do have the box
checked to manually manage music and videos as has been discussed in the
ringtones thread.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

KGI: iPhone 8 Plus selling better than expected as iPhone X delay pushes ‘super cycle’ into 2018 | 9to5Mac

2017-10-06 Thread Maria Reyes
KGI: iPhone 8 Plus selling better than expected as iPhone X delay pushes ‘super
cycle’ into 2018
Chance Miller - Oct. 6th 2017 7:16 am PT @ChanceHMiller
52 Comments

KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo is today out with a new investor note in which he further
analyzes the iPhone X supply chain and production struggles. Kuo also looks
ahead to 2018, noting of when Apple will hit full production of the iPhone X as
well as what’s in store for the 2018 iPhone…

Kuo says the “true super cycle” for the iPhone won’t actually take place until
2018. While many analysts have predicted that the launch of the iPhone X will
prompt a super cycle for the end of 2017, the KGI Securities analyst says
supply shortages will push that increased upgrade cycle into next year.

As he’s said in the past, the biggest bottleneck Apple faces in iPhone X
production is the front-facing TrueDepthcamera that allows for Apple’s Face ID
technology. Those issues, however, should be resolved in 2018.

Furthermore, the 2018 iPhones will see a “longer sales period” than the 2017
iPhone X due to the improvements in availability as Apple perfects the
production process. This implies that Kuo sees the 2018 iPhone X models being
readily available right at launch, as opposed to the significant delays
plaguing the current generation.

All in all, Kuo predicts 210 million to 220 million iPhone sales in 2017, while
2018 will see Apple ship between 245 million to 255 million units.

As for the iPhone 8, Kuo says the supply chain sentiment is “more conservative”
as of late due in large part to the fact “visibility is still low for new
products in 2018.” Once the holiday rush is over, he predicts a sharp
quarter-on-quarter decline for iPhone 8 sales due to cannibalization from
iPhone X. In the meantime, iPhone 8 Plus sales have been “better than expected”
thus far.

Finally, Kuo predicts that 2018 iPhone models will “retain selling points found
on the iPhone X.” With this paired alongside improved production, he says he’s
optimistic on prospects for iPhone suppliers heading forward.

Kuo has vocalized iPhone X production concerns several times in the past and
today’s report does much of the same. He previously lowered his iPhone X
predictions from upwards of 45-50 million units down to 40 million units with
Apple making under 10k units per day.

Creating a new Apple ID

2017-10-06 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm trying to create a new Apple ID from my iPhone, and I'm getting an
unable to create ID, an unknown error was detected message. I seem to
recall seeing this when I first tried to create an Apple ID five years
ago. I think I just gave up and went to the web site from my PC to
create my first Apple ID. Is that what I need to do in this case or is
there a trick to creating an Apple ID from my iPhone?

RE: What am I realistically losing by not upgrading to iOS 11

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Here are a few things which come to mind:

1. Ability to customize the control centre by adding, removing or reordering
items
2. Ability to perform a 3-finger tap on an image like a photo or something on
Facebook and getting a description of the picture (this is work in progress)
and if there is text on the picture usually getting OCR done on said text
3. Ability to do screen recordings which can come in very handy if you want to
demonstrate something like a short-coming in an app to a developer etc.
4. Further improvement on the ability to move apps as you can now select
multiple apps and drag them all at once or create a folder with them
5. Emergency S.O.S feature which you can configure so that if you press the
power button quickly 5 times the phone calls 9 1 1 after a delay which is there
so you can cancel if you have done this accidently which by the way is hard to
do.
6. If you use Apple Pay and live in the United States you will fairly soon be
able to send money to a friend or family member who also has an iPhone.
Hopefully this comes to Canada soon since for me this is a very nice feature.
7. Greatly improved file management via the new "Files" app which combines
files from Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive etc. in a single app
8. The awesome new american female SIRI voice which sounds great as well as a
slightly smarter SIRI
9. More options to customize Voiceover such as pitch control, hearing a tone
for upper case letters instead of "Cap"
10. The ability to auto-answer calls, this could be handy if you are doing
something where you don't want to touch the iPhone but any calls which come in
you would like to answer. Turn on auto answer and the phone rings once (you can
adjust the time) and then the call is automatically answered.

There are of course security improvements as well, I think waiting for iOS 11.1
which should come out in a few weeks or maybe a month won't hurt and there are
a few good Voiceover improvements in that first single dot update as some
people call it.
To not upgrade because you are using an old 32 bit app which the developer
isn't updating is just postponing the inevitable.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi all.

I'm not likely to upgrade to iOS 11 in any hurry. I am fixated on SHOUTcast app
which was stopped working once I upgrade to 11. Even without that app I am not
having any issues with my current version of iOS. So what am I missing by not
upgrading? Is there any compelling reason to upgrade?

Hi,
I hear you there I’m wrong about something daily. I only knew they were the
most recent as funnily enough the first few are the least visited favorites by
me so there was no doubt they were not the most recent. Though feel free to
suggest that to them too as that’d be a fabulous idea if implemented. It’d at
least make that section appear a bit more useful to me anyway.

show the most recent 8 Albums, Playlists or Stations and if you want to see all
of them you just have to tap on the “See More” button. It’s not so different

But I just downloaded the newest app from Sonos and there is no mention of

Good news for sure.

If I did not already own an Echo, I would definitely go with the Sonos 1 and in

reason and the airplay is another. And having it in every room where you have a

I think you are comparing Apple and Oranges if you compare an Echo Dot and the
new Sonos 1. First of all, if you are in a country where Alexa isn't offered
you still won't automatically get it by buying a Sonos 1. I guess here in
Canada you can make Alexa work, but it's always been my opinion that if Amazon
can't be bothered to make Alexa available officially then I'm not going to jump
through all sorts of hoops to get it.
As for the price comparison, the Sonos 1 especially if you buy a set and put
them in stereo mode is a very different animal with respect to sound quality.
Maybe you also have some sort of higher quality stereo or set of speakers or
bluetooth speaker for enjoying music and this is really where the Sonos 1 comes
in. Anyhow, if you want to put music through out your house Sonos is still one
of the best options and as I said, you also get fully accessible access to
things like Tune In, iHeart Radio, Spotify, Deezer, Sirius XM and many more, I
believe Sonos supports 44 services in total both paid and free. If the Sonos 1
also has Airplay 2 built in it's very much a game-changer for iOS users since
you only need one Airplay enabled device to allow your entire Sonos system to
access it. For me this would mean I can take my Connect Amp and use it at my
retail store and replace it with a Sonos 1 and I can also get rid of my setup
where I use an Airport Express connected to the Connect Amp so I can Airplay to
my Sonos system.
If all you want is an inexpensive voice assistant speaker and you don't care
too much about sound quality then the Echo Dot is certainly the way to go, but
even if Amazon made the Echo available here in Canada I believe it's much
better to buy a Sonos 1 instead because it will eventually give you access to
both Alexa and Google Assistant. I wouldn't be surprised if Cortana follows
soon as well and then you have 3 of the 4 major voice assistants in one device.
Regards,
Sieghard

I have an Echo Dot at home, but don't use Siri very much. I do use Siri, but
not constantly like I know some do. So for me, I have the Hey Siri feature
turned off. It's not ahuge deal since I can hold the Home button osummon Siri
if I need to. For the Echo Dot, though it is always listening, that does not
bother me too much. However, it does have a mute button to stop it from
listening, so that's good. It really hasn't been triggered too much by thinking
it has heard the magic word. A few times, but not a ton. I understand how the
Sonos devices getting Alexa would be a game changer for those not in countries
supported by Alexa. However, for me it comes down to price; I can get an Echo
Dot

Re: arranging apps..

2017-10-06 Thread christopher hallsworth
Hello, sorry, that is no longer the case. You now double tap and hold on the
app, just like you did pre-iOS 10, but this is where things are all changed or
new. When you hear "started editing", release your finger. To start moving
apps, flick up with one finger till you hear "drag" followed by the app name.
Then perform a one finger double tap. Now the rest should feel familiar to you,
except there is one more. You can now move multiple apps at once, and yes this
includes folders. Simply double tap with one finger to add the app to the
current drag session.

Hello, I think optical image stabilization is only available on the 8+, and to
be honest I am very happy with my 6s for both sound quality and general usage.
Enough said and good luck with your decision making.

RE: Getting Rid of Apps List in Messages

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, it is possible. Find the button called "Messaging Apps" to the left of the
message text edit field (to the left of that is the "Attach Media" button.
Now double tap and hold on the "Messaging Apps" button and then slide your
finger down to the bottom of the screen and the apps bar will go away.
You do, however, have to tap the actual button, if you just swipe to it to put
Voiceover focus on it and then double tap and hold anywhere it will most likely
not work, it didn't for me, I had to double tap and hold on the button.
Some people also said that a hard press and swipe down works, but I haven't
tried it.

Downloading entire Bookshare library at once

2017-10-06 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

So, I’ve been a member of Bookshare since it started around 2002 or 2003.
I’ve downloaded probably thousands of books in this time. In the process of
doing so, the older format is not compatible with apps like VoiceDreamReader
on iOS or the book quality has since been replaced by a better
formatted/scanned version. That and I may have some books here and others
there. This and that backup on the cloud or external drive, etc.

My question is… is there in fact a way to download my entire book history in
one shot or am I looking at a labor intensive task sifting through God knows
how many titles that stretch back over ten years?

Would appreciate any info on whether this can be accomplished in a
reasonable manner.

I’m a Windows user, but my main reading device is the iPhone these days. I
would ideally like to get everything on my PC first and then upload to the
iPhone.

Thanks,

Cristobal

A while back, someone had said that you could do it with the work flow app,

Re: 1Password users. Do you use the free app, the paid upgrade, or the subscription?

2017-10-06 Thread Wayne Merritt
I got 1Password a couple of years ago and have been using the free
versione ever since. I've thought of upgrading to the in-app purchase
of $10 for added features, but have not gotten around to it. The fre
version works the way I need it to, and keeps track of my passwords
just fine. I use it so often that 1Password has gotten a spot on my
home screen 2 of frequently used apps. At times I wish I could
rearrange the favorites page in 1Password, and perhaps the in-app
purchase would give me that ability, I don't really know, but it's not
a big deal to scroll and find the right account and password.

Re: Amazon, Siri, Facebook, Google: How to turn off listening devices

2017-10-06 Thread Marie
I was told just two days ago that it was not yet available so I hope it is
true. That should mean that when I get the Sonos 1 I will be even happier.
But I just downloaded the newest app from Sonos and there is no mention of
Audible. Perhaps it will work through the Alexa feature.

Good news for sure.

If I did not already own an Echo, I would definitely go with the Sonos 1 and
in fact I am still going for the Sonos 1. The sound quality is one very good
reason and the airplay is another. And having it in every room where you
have a Sonos speaker is exciting. I am looking forward to this and the sales
person told me they are working seriously to get Audible books to play on
the speakers. While you can listen to them on the Echo you have to be in the
same room but if you have Sonos speakers in several rooms, you will hear the
book in each of those rooms.

Hi Wayne,

I think you are comparing Apple and Oranges if you compare an Echo Dot and
the new Sonos 1. First of all, if you are in a country where Alexa isn't
offered you still won't automatically get it by buying a Sonos 1. I guess
here in Canada you can make Alexa work, but it's always been my opinion that
if Amazon can't be bothered to make Alexa available officially then I'm not
going to jump through all sorts of hoops to get it.
As for the price comparison, the Sonos 1 especially if you buy a set and put
them in stereo mode is a very different animal with respect to sound
quality. Maybe you also have some sort of higher quality stereo or set of
speakers or bluetooth speaker for enjoying music and this is really where
the Sonos 1 comes in. Anyhow, if you want to put music through out your
house Sonos is still one of the best options and as I said, you also get
fully accessible access to things like Tune In, iHeart Radio, Spotify,
Deezer, Sirius XM and many more, I believe Sonos supports 44 services in
total both paid and free. If the Sonos 1 also has Airplay 2 built in it's
very much a game-changer for iOS users since you only need one Airplay
enabled device to allow your entire Sonos system to access it. For me this
would mean I can take my Connect Amp and use it at my retail store and
replace it with a Sonos 1 and I can also get rid of my setup where I use an
Airport Express connected to the Connect Amp so I can Airplay to my Sonos
system.
If all you want is an inexpensive voice assistant speaker and you don't care
too much about sound quality then the Echo Dot is certainly the way to go,
but even if Amazon made the Echo available here in Canada I believe it's
much better to buy a Sonos 1 instead because it will eventually give you
access to both Alexa and Google Assistant. I wouldn't be surprised if
Cortana follows soon as well and then you have 3 of the 4 major voice
assistants in one device.

Sieghard

I have an Echo Dot at home, but don't use Siri very much. I do use Siri, but
not constantly like I know some do. So for me, I have the Hey Siri feature
turned off. It's not ahuge deal since I can hold the Home button osummon
Siri if I need to. For the Echo Dot, though it is always listening, that
does not bother me too much. However, it does have a mute button to stop it
from listening, so that's good. It really hasn't been triggered too much by
thinking it has heard the magic word. A few times, but not a ton. I
understand how the Sonos devices getting Alexa would be a game changer for
those not in countries supported by Alexa. However, for me it comes down to
price; I can get an Echo Dot for $49, verses the $199 that Sonos charge for
their new device.

I guess it’s just so sighted people see more at a glance. It looks like they
show the most recent 8 Albums, Playlists or Stations and if you want to see all
of them you just have to tap on the “See More” button. It’s not so different
from how this works in other apps or even on the PC, if you open Word or Excel
you see a certain number of your most recently used files except here you can
say if you want to see the last 6, 8, 10 or whatever. I don’t think I have
found a place where you could specify this for the My Sonos tab or where, if
you wanted to, you could turn off to see only the most recent ones you used.

RE: adding ring and alert tones to iPhone

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
As Sharon said, you don't copy them to anywhere. Just connect your phone, go to
the device area by clicking on the iPhone button, then go to the device sidebar
where you have "Summary" at the very top. Almost at the end is "Tones", go
there and tab a few times until you are in a listview of ringtones. Now use
Windows Explorer, go to the folder where you have saved your ringtones, copy
one or multiple tones, go back to iTunes and just as if you were pasting them
into a new folder or to a USB drive, when you are in your list of Tones paste
them with Control+V. This will add them to your iPhone.
If you want to delete any of the tones you have to go back to the Summary tab
first and make sure "Manually manage music videos" is checked, once that is
done you can go to your Tones tab and tab to the listview of tones and simply
press delete and it will disappear from the list and from your phone, but of
course it will remain on your hard drive.
It is actually simplified in some ways, you don't have to first add the Tones
to your tones library and then go to Tones in the device area where you then
check them before doing a sync, now you just paste them and they are
automatically synced.

Sieghard

Re: A really nasty bug I noticed

This sounds like a charging cord problem. I haven't updated to IOS 11 yet, but
I had this same exact problem a couple of weeks ago. After buying a new phone
charger the problem hasn't occurred again.

Hi,
I guess you hadn't noticed a similar message I had asked. If you want
your ringtones to show up on your phone you have to copy them from
your harddrive on your computer and then you have to bring iTunes up
and go to your iPhone and tab to the summary tab and arrow down and
paste them in the ringtones . For some reason iTunes no longer has a
ringtone section. Hope this helps you.

I'm using the iPhone 7. As long as I get the click lock sound the phone charges
fine. But if I plug it in and it locked and then hit the power to turn the
screen off it doesn't click and doesn't charge.

Re: Query about newest version of the Sonos App

2017-10-06 Thread Robin Frost
Hi Sieghard,
Firstly thank you for making me smile. Secondly I wish your wife all manner of
good things and an easy journey through her time of monitoring.
Thirdly I knew you’d know I just knew it. I think that was my mistake I might
have been on the now playing screen and just didn’t realize it what with all
the seeming newness. Suddenly I had an unintended grouping and hadn’t a clue
how I did it. I like the new layout quite well enough. But I always think to
myself in various places I do wish they’d make more use of the VoiceOver rotor.
It’d be neat to be able to change volume or rooms or such that way. Ah well
maybe one day.
Thanks to you Neal and others for all your hard work on the betas for the
benefit of us all.
Yes the new speakers do sound neat it’d be fun to play with one and I’m hoping
you’ll report back should you have the chance to do so.
Thanks again.

Subject: RE: Query about newest version of the Sonos App

Hi Robin, you silly girl,

OK, selecting a room is all done via the rooms tab. The trick is that one you
tapped on a room and it’s selected, you are done in the rooms tab unless you
want to group rooms.

Let’s say I want to play a particular song, album, artist or playlist in the
Master Bedroom, then once that has started playing I want to select the Kitchen
and select a radio station.

For sake of simplicity let’s assume both the album or playlist as well as the
radio station are added to the “My Sonos” tab which is sort of a new thing
where all your favourite stuff is.

So, I tap on the rooms tab and select Master Bedroom, now I go to the My Sonos
tab and select the album or playlist, I may have to select if I want to play
all the album or I can tap on a particular song, but that’s essentially it.

If you now check just above the Rooms tab, about in the middle near the bottom,
it now says “Master Bedroom” followed by “currently playing and whatever it is
that is playing. Double tap on that and the “Now Playing” screen opens, at the
top left you can dismiss it.

Next, if you want to start your radio station in the Kitchen, dismiss the now
playing screen, tap again on the rooms tab, select kitchen, go back to the My
Sonos tab and select your radio station.

You could also go to the Browse tab and select any of your sources like your
library or whichever music services you have set up.

If, let’s say you are on the now playing screen for Master Bedroom, there is a
“Master Bedroom” button at the bottom centre. If you tap that and select
another room it will be grouped with Master Bedroom so if you want to select
another room entirely without grouping it as far as I know you have to close
the now playing screen and go back to the rooms tab.

I haven’t checked about a limit on Favourites, but I like the My Sonos screen
as it is nicely set up for all your favourites whether they are artists, albums
or playlists.

I have been on the beta program for Sonos for years, I just deleted the Sonos 8
beta today and replaced it with the full version as that beta has ended. In the
past I have always received an invitation for the next beta, I guess I will
find out if I get invited to beta test Sonos 9.

I am very seriously considering buying one or two Sonos 1 speakers, I’ll be
going back to Calgary in two weeks with my wife as she is going to have more
seizure monitoring and possibly surgery so I might buy it at a Best Buy there
as I can save myself 7% taxes if I buy in Alberta instead of here in British
Columbia. I might just use 27000 Aeroplan points which would get me a $200 Best
Buy gtift card for this. I definitely won’t order it now because by the time it
would get shipped in late October we would already be not at home any more and
there is little point to have it sitting here for 3 or 4 weeks until we get
back.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi,

I updated to the newest version of the Sonos app this morning and my what an
interesting makeover it seems to have received. As usual it’s extremely
accessible for VoiceOver users and I’d expect no less from them at this point.

However, I am left with two questions for which I couldn’t readily find
answers. But I suspect Neil or Sieghard will laugh when they read them and say
silly girl it’s so obvious (laughs).

Firstly have they increased the number of favorites one can have or are we
still at 30? Secondly it used to be that merely selecting a different speaker
would switch the app’s focus to that speaker sending your sound to it. Today
when I selected a different room it created a group with the room I’d selected
previously. So how does one select a different speaker without

Re: 1Password users. Do you use the free app, the paid upgrade, or the subscription?

2017-10-06 Thread englishrider91
While I understand the differences between the free version of 1Password and
the in-app upgrade for 1Password, I'm stumped as to the differences between
that upgrade and the monthly 1Password Account paid subscription. If anyone can
enlighten me, that'd be great!

As far as using 1Password as my password manager, it's great! Completely
accessible with VoiceOver on iDevices. There's a Windows version, too, and I
think a Mac version (don't quote me on that last one) but the Windows version
confused me. I wasn't really sure how to use it. I'm not sure if it was an
accessibility issue or a usability issue; either way, I couldn't figure it out.
It's been a while since I played with it on Windows, however, and things may
have changed, either in the app or in my brain lol. Anyhow, I don't think
you'll be at all disappointed with 1Password. :)

Thanks,
Ari

RE: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X

2017-10-06 Thread Carl John de Campos
Hi Sieghard,

Thanks for the excellent advise, I was also considering that option, as my
carrier have various options for call time and Data at much cheaper rates than
with the device, as I agree with you, the 6S is still pretty fast, battery is
OK, and OCR won’t improve much on the newer phones, and video / camera quality
is fine for what I use it for, it will most likely be better to wait for Iphone
8S/9/11 next year which should have all the X features standardized.

Hi Carl,

I have a 6S Plus so I’m very much in the same position as you with your 6S. I
am still very satisfied with the speed of my 6S Plus, yes, of course the A11
Bionic will be a lot faster than the A9, but if that is really that noticeable
with what I do is questionable. The same goes for the camera, I do believe the
8 also has optical image stabilization now, but for OCR and object recognition
etc. the 6S/6S Plus also work great.

I decided to definitely wait this one out, my guess is that next year all
iPhones will have OLED screens and Face Id so where you would pay a pretty
steep premium for this now, next year you may not. If you now have an
off-contract phone then why not try and go to a provider if you have them in
South Africa where you can maybe save a bit each months, here in Canada we
don’t have as much choice as in the US or in many european countries, but since
I am not on contract any more, I was able to find a $49/months plan which gives
me unlimited calls and texts across Canada and 6 Gb of data. Before when I was
under contract I paid $30 more for unlimited calls/texts but with only 3 Gb of
data. $30 over one year is $360 which I will save in just that one year that I
am keeping my 6S Plus.

Hi all,

I’m due for an upgrade soonand I’ve used my 6S 64 GB space gray for the past
two years.

I’m firstly considering the Iphone 8 vs the 8+, of which the better reported
battery life and larger screen work area (I also type a lot onscreen), are cons
for the +, but smaller pocket size and cheaper price are cons for the 8.

I think the cameras are the same between the two so for youtube video making
and OCR work they should be identical, but I have the following questions:

Do both 8 and 8+ have optical image stabilization?

Do both 8 and 8+ have stereo speakers, and do you think they would sound
exactly the same (listening to audio books and youtube very important for
better sound on phone speakers)?

And are there any other worth while mentioning differences between the two?

And lastly, I think the X would be everyone’s dream phone, but I already hear
production is low and they may not ship enough units by 5 Nov to U.S., thus to
South Africa will probably take another million years, plus cost, at $1000
starting, by the time South Africa gets it it will cost excessively more than
the 8 and 8+. Wondering if worth waiting vs the price.

Do any of you have your 8 or 8+ yet, and what are your thoughts on the phone
speed, feel, speakers, battery, etc.

RE: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Sieghard

Subject: Iphone 8 VS 8+ or X

Thanks / Regards

RE: iPhone 8 and Aftershokz Trekx Titanium

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This is new behaviour in iOS 11, you can turn bluetooth or WiFi off in the
Control Centre and it will actually only disconnect you from your currently
connected device, only if you go to Settings > WiFi or Settings > Bluetooth and
turn them off there will they truly be turned off.
As for your headset, is Voiceover staying on the phone or ddoes it disappear
and you hear nothing? If this is the case it may just that volume has dropped
to 0, press the volume button repeatedly to bring it up.
If Voiceover does not switch at all and remains on the phone then somehow your
headset is not paired and if it shows up in the list I would tap on the More
button beside it, then tap “Forget this device” and try to pair it again.
Even though after I updated to iOS 11 my Voyager Edge was still in the list of
devices, it did not work and I had to forget it and pair it again. All my
bluetooth devices work fine under iOS 11 so it should work.

Sieghard

Today I bought an iPhone 8 and attempted to pair my Trekz Titanium headset. The
Trekz indicates that it has connected with the phone, and the phone indicates
bluetooth connected in the status bar, but i can't get audio to pllay through
the headset. Under Settings, Bluetooth, it does not indicate that there are any
bluetooth devices connected. What is interesting is that in the status bar it
indicated bluetooth connected even when there is no bluetooth device connected.
I know this seems weird, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Andy

RE: Query about newest version of the Sonos App

2017-10-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

I definitely won’t order it now because by the time it
would get shipped in late October we would already be not at home any more and
there is little point to have it sitting here for 3 or 4 weeks until we get
back.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Query about newest version of the Sonos App

Hi,
I updated to the newest version of the Sonos app this morning and my what an
interesting makeover it seems to have received.
Today
when I selected a different room it created a group with the room I’d selected
previously. So how does one select a different speaker without creating a
group? See told you it’s probably ridiculously obvious but my weary brain just
didn’t hit upon it today so I apologize in advance and say thanks for the
rescue today (smile).
Robin
