The 7 that my friend just bought was a 32. She is a very weak user, and I tried 
to convince her daughter to go for the SE. I thought it must be a 64, but later 
my friend said it was 32. She can't really use the thing.

iPhone SE Replacement?

On the betas I had this issue but now I constantly have my phone on dnd so I 
don't know what tone will play. Sometimes I will have to select a different 
sound then select the one you actually want to use for your ringtone.

a very strange text tone notification problem

Hey guys,

OK, i'm hoping that some of you can help cause apple has no ideas.
Earlier today, my text tone literally changed out of the blue.  It's
now playing the note text tone notification.  This is the tone that is
the default when you 1st buy an iphone.  In my sounds, the tone is
selected for something else completely.  I literally changed nothing
and this is happening.  It makes no sense, and i'm not getting
anywhere.  Any ideas about what might be going on, or why this would
happen?  I'm running the latest IOS on an iphone 7.  Like i said, it
literally changed out of the blue.
I have done an icloud backup, done 3 reboots, ETC.  Any thoughts guys?

Just a little tip, As you're listening, just record yourself an unprotected 
recording of the book to listen too, as you're recording will play on anything 
without needing special software.

This Is not my experience. If I am in the cloud section of my library and 
double tap a book it starts downloading, a few seconds into the download it 
will say “Ready to Play”. This means enough has downloaded so that if you want 
you can start playing the book, but it always requires another double tap for 
me.

Also, as Richard pointed out, once you double tap on a book to start it 
playing the library screen with all your titles goes away and you are on the 
now playing screen or, as Audible calls it, the “Player” screen. In fact, along 
the bottom of the screen you have 5 tabs as follows:

If you double tap on the “Player” tab which is in the middle and just above 
the home button, the now playing or player screen opens, it has a Close button

As Richard said, when on the recents tab, double tap the Edit button at the top 
right of the screen, it turns into a Done button and at the top left you now 
have a “Clear” button and this is basically the clear all recents, if you 
double tap it you get two options:

Clear All Recents or Cancel, these are buttons so as soon as you double tap 
Clear all Recents your recent call list will be empty.

I used the Bank of America app the other day. I just flicked right until I got 
past the voice assistant stuff, and I was able to get to my account normally. 
Also, the tabs at the bottom of the page still work.

I just saw a news story that there is a Facebook hoax where people make it look 
like they have cloned your account, but they  really haven't.  I cannot quickly 
find the story in my news app. 
I also think the Friend request that come to your email account are hoaxes in 
and of themselves and should just be ignored.  They are assuming you have a  
Facebook account and hoping you'll click on the link to accept.

I think the difference is that I never turned Erica on in thefirst place. 
There's a "Try Erica" button on some screens. The app is behaving as it always 
did for me. Good thing, I do all my banking using the app on a 6 Plus.

I hope they come up with a fix for everyone.

It is really a VoiceOver issue not a virtual assistant issue. I think the 
suggestion to try turning it off was to see if that helped at all. I could not 
find a way to turn it off. 
I'd wait to see if they fix the app before using it.

shortcuts. It used to be at the top of the screen, but it's apparently in 
alphabetical order, so it's at the bottom.

It used to be that when you went into Accessibility shortcuts and then to
voiceover it would say triple click the home button to turn voiceover on or
off.  That feature doesn't appear to be there any longer.  Does anyone know

Erica, VBOfA's virtual assistant

They added a new virtual assistant, Erica, to the app.
You can activate that, and write a question or supposedly ask a question using 
the microphone, though I could not do that with VoiceOver.
But, I could type or dictate a question like, what are my most recent 
transactions?  And it will give you a list of them.
I tried first to simply disable Ericka to see if that would help the other 
issue, but I couldn’t, though I think I turned off its speaking the answer.
Now it displays the list of transactions from the last month.

I don't think there is a phone number, but it does make me wonder what she used 
for a password. I think in a huge majority of cases where people's accounts get 
hacked it's either because they use a super-simple password, or they weren't 
careful and responded to a phishing email where they gave away their user 
name/email address and password. I know this is no consolation for your friend 
at this point, but it's the sad truth.

I was also wondering about that and along with the series 2 being somewhat slow 
in general this issue is the absolutely most annoying thing ever. Sometimes I 
have to wake up my watch 3 or 4 times in a row to do something because each 
time I press the digital crown or turn the crown up to wake the watch I hear 
the little tone that it locked even before I can move my finger from the 
digital crown to the touch scren display or sometimes I'm in the middle of 
tapping or swiping and boom it just locks. I think this is very much a 
Voiceover issue because my wife who is sighted also has a series 2 and it 
doesn't seem to happen on her watch.

cloned facebook account

Question for a friend. Her Facebook apparently has been hacked. They have all 
her memories, pics, etc. She changed her password, but Facebook says it makes 
no difference. Is there any way to contact Facebook by phone? She doesn't want 
to lose her whole account that goes back many years or she would make a new 
account. If there is no number to contact facebook, is there a way to transfer 
old account into the new account? It is like account was cloned, and now 
strange people are tr'ying to friend her. Please any ideas are welcome quickly. 
She is very upset. Exactly why I don't use FB much! Thanks. Absolutely no 
techie on this!

Problem With Bank Of America

Sent from my iPhoneThe other day, the Bank Of America introduced this thing 
called Ask Erica.  Ever since then, when using Voiceover to go into your 
account, it just circles around and will not allow you to look at the account 
activities.  All that a Voiceover user can know is what the balance is in all 
accounts.

Has anyone else encountered this?  Also, I can’t find a place to contact the 
developers about this issue.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Does series 4 watch still exhibit the premature closure problem?

Hi all,

I am thinking about upgrading my series 2 watch to a series 4. But 
before I  do so I wanted to find out from any list member who already 
has one or have had chance to try one out if it still has the long 
standing premature closure problem which is so annoying on previous 
versions.



If it is not entirely clear this problem is where you tap the watch to 
do something and almost immediately before you can do anything, it closes.

My brother who is in the UK, was having the same problem.  Others were having 
that problem too.

Audible.co.uk
 gave him these steps to follow in order to get downloads back on his computer.

There is a software verification setting within your Account Details page, 
which needs to be turned on. Once turned on, you should be able to download 
your Audible book. Below we have included the steps on how to turn on this 
software verification.

1. log into your Audible account.

2. Click on where it says Hi, and your name, and click on "Account Details".

3. Click on "Update Settings" tab on the left-hand side of the page.

4. Scroll down the page and you will see Software Verification. Please be sure 
to turn this on.

5. Refresh or close the website, and re-open the Audible site, and everything 
should be fine.

If you have any trouble, write back to me and i’ll ask him for the number, if 
you are in the UK.

This Is not my experience. If I am in the cloud section of my library and 
double tap a book it starts downloading, a few seconds into the download it 
will say “Ready to Play”. This means enough has downloaded so that if you want

on the file name I download, along with the Audible extension at the end.

Sure, there’s a long string of numbers following the title of the book, but the 
title is always there.

My brother who is in the UK, was having the same problem.  Others were having 
that problem too.

 

Audible.co.uk gave him these steps to follow in order to get downloads back on 
his computer.

 

There is a software verification setting within your Account Details page, 
which needs to be turned on. Once turned on, you should be able to download 
your Audible book. Below we have included the steps on how to turn on this 
software verification.

 

1. log into your Audible account.

 

2. Click on where it says Hi, and your name, and click on "Account Details".

 

3. Click on "Update Settings" tab on the left-hand side of the page.

 

4. Scroll down the page and you will see Software Verification. Please be sure 
to turn this on.

 

5. Refresh or close the website, and re-open the Audible site, and everything 
should be fine.

 

If you have any trouble, write back to me and i’ll ask him for the number, if 
you are in the UK.

Robert, this is not true, the title of the book is in the file name, along with 
a series of numbers, but otherwise, you can always see the name of the book you 
just downloaded, and if it’s a multipart book, it’ll tell you what part it is, 
so I’m not sure why it is you can’t see the title of the book when you download 
it.

Audible uses an encryption method so the title and author of the book is not 
readable outside of their software.

If you are downloading to a computer, you have to use their software to listen 
to the book and/or the audible manager to then transfer it to a portable device.
