arriving? Janet

Apple releases updated version of iOS 12.1.2 for iPhone
Thursday, December 20, 2018

Apple today released “an updated version of iOS 12.1.2 that features a
new ’16C104′ build number, up from the ’16C101′ build number used for Monday’s
release,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.

“We don’t know why Apple has released a new version of iOS 12.1.2, but
the updated build is likely meant for those who have not yet updated to the new
software,” Clover reports. “It could contain small bug fixes or tweaks that are
not significant enough to require a full release.”

“iOS 12.1.2 is available only on the iPhone, and it can be downloaded
over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings >
General > Software Update,” Clover reports. “If you’ve already updated to iOS
12.1.2 earlier this week, you probably won’t see the newer version.”

2018-12-20 Thread Robert Wright
To add to what has been given. When you tab over to summary you can type t o
and it will take you directly to tones. Then tab 4 times to get to the list.
Arrow to the ones you wish to remove and press the delete key. Press enter on
the prompts. This is also where you would add tones to your phone by pasting
them in.

Hi Eve,

Press space bar on iPhone like you did. Tab until it says summary. Now down
arrow to tones and tab to the list. You should be able to delete them there.

I hit space bar on my iPhone, but nothing came up when I found the word tones.
What am I missing here?

First, go into the rotor settings and make sure that text selection is
selected.

If you want to first select a letter, a word, a line, a page, or all, turn the
rotor to words or lines, and flick up with one finger to go back knowing that
the cursor will be at the beginning of whatever you hear.

Then, turn to text selection, and flick up or down to the amount you want to
select by, and flick right to select.

Then, turn to edit, and flick up or down to the action, cut, copy, etc.

The iOS 12 manual can be downloaded in Books.

Apple releases updated version of iOS 12.1.2 for iPhone

Thursday, December 20, 2018

Apple today released “an updated version of iOS 12.1.2
that features a new ’16C104′ build number, up from the
’16C101′ build number used for Monday’s release,” Juli
Clover reports for MacRumors.

“We don’t know why Apple has released a new version of
iOS 12.1.2, but the updated build is likely meant for
those who have not yet updated to the new software,”
Clover reports. “It could contain small bug fixes or
tweaks that are not significant enough to require a
full release.”

“iOS 12.1.2 is available only on the iPhone, and it
can be downloaded over-the-air in the Settings app. To
access the update, go to Settings > General > Software
Update,” Clover reports. “If you’ve already updated to
iOS 12.1.2 earlier this week, you probably won’t see
the newer version.”

RE: Apple watch settings and notifications

2018-12-20 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Jed,

As strange as it may seem, what you are experiencing is the default scenario
when paring an Apple Watch to a phone.

It can take some getting used to, but the point of the watch is to extend, not
duplicate the phone notifications.

For example, I have my watch set to silent mode. So, when I receive a text
message on my phone, there is no sound, at all on either the phone or my watch.
However, the watch vibrates on my wrist.

I think the thinking is that the watch will be closer to you, at any given
time, than the phone.

As for me, this is a wonderful scenario as, before I owned a watch, I would
sometimes miss phone notifications as the phone might be upstairs while I was
downstairs.

Obviously I do not know your exact watch configuration but you will notice that
when the watch is locked or powered off, your phone notifications sounds will
play, as usual.

Hey guys. So i just got a new apple watch. So far so good, i love it.
However i am trying to figure out notifications. When i get a text message, my
phone no nlonger tells me i get a text. I don’t hear the text sound on my
phone. However i do on the apple watch. Any ideas?

Thanks,

First, go into the rotor settings and make sure that text selection is selected.

Re: Fantastical2 For iPad

2018-12-20 Thread Richard Turner

I only use Fantastical 2 on my iPhone. But, I have used the iPhone version on
an iPad, and it works better than the iPad version.
Plus, it costs half as much.
At least for VoiceOver users, I do not recommend the iPad app for Fantastical,
but to use the iPhone app.
You can install iPhone apps on an iPad by changing the filter in the app store.

Press space bar on iPhone like you did. Tab until it says summary. Now down

Apple releases updated version of iOS 12.1.2 for iPhone | MacDailyNews

2018-12-20 Thread Chris Chaffin

http://macdailynews.com/2018/12/20/apple-releases-updated-version-of-ios-12-1-2-for-iphone/

Apple releases updated version of iOS 12.1.2 for iPhone
Thursday, December 20, 2018
Apple today released “an updated version of iOS 12.1.2 that features a new
’16C104′ build number, up from the ’16C101′ build number used for Monday’s
release,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.

“We don’t know why Apple has released a new version of iOS 12.1.2, but the
updated build is likely meant for those who have not yet updated to the new
software,” Clover reports.

Can't remove tones from iPhone

2018-12-20 Thread Eve

Hi All,,

This morning, I thought I would remove some tones on my iPhone 7 that I
don't use anymore. I trusted the computer with iTunes and tried to find
where the tones are listed. It's been a while since I've done this so
I'm not sure if I skipped a step. Isn't there somewhere within iTunes
to remove the tones?

I hit space bar on my iPhone, but nothing came up when I found the word
tones. What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Transcription Beta Work Around.

2018-12-20 Thread janet gross
Hi Everyone,
For those who might want to get rid of this transcription Beta on your phone,
if you have it this might work for you. I called Apple Accessibility
yesterday, and after spending over two hours on the phone with a Apple senior
and two Apple engineers, they gave me a work around, so if anyone is
interested you can try these steps below, and if not, well that's ok too.

I also have been informed by using this work around, one can't use the Siri
translation on the phone. I'm not for sure if one could use the hey Siri option
either though. I guess it all depends on you and how you use your phone.

To hopefully get rid of the transcription beta.

Step 1. open settings

Step 2. go to Siri and search

step 3. go to language and double tap on that

step 4. swipe down until you hear English Australia, and double tap on that

step 5. swipe down to the bottom-right of the screen for the save option and
double tap on that

step 6. back out of the language option just one time, you will now be back in
the Siri option

step 7. make sure Siri is in the English language or which ever language you
prefer, if not in the language you prefer, double tap on the language you do
prefer

Now you can back out of the setting's app, and go back to voicemail open a new
voice mail message You shouldn't see any transcription beta, if you were
successful in setting up this current work around,

You will not be able to read any past voicemails, but you should be able to
read the next message coming in. Try to maybe have someone to call you and
leave a message, and try listening to the new voicemail. I think this is the
only way you might know if you were successful in this.

Now, I am not saying this will work for everyone, but for those who want to get
rid of this Mr. Pesty if they have it, you have an option here, providing this
might work for you. Please keep in mind, this is not a case of one fits all
either. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason why technology works the way it
does. I don't have all the answers, just want to share in hopes this will help
for others if they want it to, and if the pess doesn't bother you, you don't
have to do anything.

I used these settings on a xr phone and iOS 12.1

First, go into the rotor settings and make sure that text selection is
selected.

If you want to first select a letter, a word, a line, a page, or all, turn
the rotor to words or lines, and flick up with one finger to go back knowing
that the cursor will be at the beginning of whatever you hear.

Then, turn to text selection, and flick up or down to the amount you want
to select by, and flick right to select.

Then, turn to edit, and flick up or down to the action, cut, copy, etc.

The iOS 12 manual can be downloaded in Books.

Hi, Everyone.
I use the Notes app to make up shopping lists, but don't know how to enable the
check feature so I can check off the item when it's in the cart at the store.
How do I do this?

Or is there a different app everyone else is using for shopping lists?

Thanks,

RE: Another Seeing AI victory

2018-12-20 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Yes Seeing AI really can get us out of situations where otherwise we would have
been so frustrated that our day would turn out to be as awful as could be!
Seeing AI and I weren-t really Friends to start out with, but when I discovered
by chance, how it can tell you whether Windows is updating, or why the Laptop
is taking so long to start, I began seeing this app in another light.

Asunto: Another Seeing AI victory

Hi, list.

Yesterday I was having problems with my television, not being able to get the
cable signal after hurriedly turning it off to answer an iPhone call.

I used Seeing AI in the short text channel to read the message on the screen
and at least got some idea the problem was on my end.  One of my neighbors came
by after I checked this message and discovered I had accidentally turned off
the cable box.  I must have hit both buttons on the remote almost
simultaneously.

Instead of flicking, you can just slide your finger down the screen past the
transcript message or just learn approximately on the screen where it's located
and then just touch the screen below that point.

How To Use the Checklist Feature in Notes?

2018-12-20 Thread dani pagador
Hi, Everyone.
I use the Notes app to make up shopping lists, but don't know how to
enable the check feature so I can check off the item when it's in the
cart at the store. How do I do this?

Or is there a different app everyone else is using for shopping lists?

Thanks,
Dani

Re: BT enabled blood pressure checking devices and accessibility

2018-12-20 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,

We use the qardio blood pressure cuff here. It has an app for the i phone
which makes it totally accessable. It connects via bluetooth, and pairing is
easy. They also make a scale which we also use.

First, go into the rotor settings and make sure that text selection is selected.

BT enabled blood pressure checking devices and accessibility

2018-12-20 Thread Dan

HI,

Do any of you have any info on the accessibility of these
devices?  I have developed the need to monitor mine more
frequently and would like to use a BT device if they are
accessible.  I just don't have enough experience with them to
know which are and which are not.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Another Seeing AI victory

2018-12-20 Thread Bill Outman
Hi, list.

Yesterday I was having problems with my television, not being able to get
the cable signal after hurriedly turning it off to answer an iPhone call.

I used Seeing AI in the short text channel to read the message on the screen
and at least got some idea the problem was on my end. One of my neighbors
came by after I checked this message and discovered I had accidentally
turned off the cable box. I must have hit both buttons on the remote almost
simultaneously.

RE: Apple watch settings and notifications

That is normal behavior by default, you would have to go into your Apple Watch
notification settings and customize this there.

Re: Text editing with iPhone

2018-12-20 Thread 'Bill Gallik' via VIPhone
I suspect it’s noteworthy to add that you can likewise select text going
backwards. In other words, you might review a line to locate the character,
word and/or phrase you may wish to alter; then after noting the last object to
be modified, move the rotor to “Text Selection” and flick left to “select
backwards.”

Just thought I’d add this.

Re: Text editing with iPhone

2018-12-20 Thread Chris Chaffin

Just an additional note to what Richard said. When moving around in a
document, it is important to be able to know where your insertion point is.
Whether you are moving by character, word, or line, by flicking down, you will
move forward, or left to right, putting the insertion point to the right or
end. And by flicking up, you will move backwards, or right to left, putting
your insertion point to the left or beginning.
For example, if you have the word, can, C A N, and your insertion point is at
the beginning of the word to the left of the letter c. If you flick down one
time moving by character, voice over will say c, and will move the insertion
point one place to the right, which will be after the letter c, but before the
letter A. If you flick down again, then voice over will say A, and will move
the insertion point one place to the right, which will be after the letter A,,
but before the letter n.
So as you see, if you are moving left to right, the insertion point is to the
right or after the letter spoken.
Now, if you then flick up one time moving by character, then voice over will
say A, moving the insertion point one place to the left, which will be before
the letter A, but after the letter c. And if you flick up one more time, voice
over will say c, moving the insertion point one place to the left, which will
put you at the beginning of the word, before the letter c.
So if you are moving backwards, right to left, the insertion point is to the
left or before the letter spoken.

So depending on which way you are moving will determine what side of the letter
the insertion point will be located. Without knowing this is probably one
reason you got confused and were not having much luck when selecting text.

Hope this has been helpful.

Chris
