Re: Changing the tip in the Instacart app

2020-05-26 Thread Shirley Baker
Like I say, there is something that says custom and you can write your amount
in there. I started doing that one day but never got the amount written
correctly. The other choices they give you are check boxes I believe and you
can choose one of those and I believe it's during the checkout process.

Instacard bases its tipping on what you tipped when you first started using the
app. I’m not sure how you can change it.

RE: Seeking recommendation for a Mic

It does work fine on the Mac as well.

Subject: Re: Seeking recommendation for a Mic

I use the Logitech H800 wireless headphone. It has a USB dongle that you can
plug into a USB port and the computer treats it as an audio device.

There is also a bluetooth channel that you can pair with your iPhone and toggle
between the two with a three position switch on the right ear.

The switch is off, bluetooth, and USB dongle from bottom to top.

It has a decent microphone that is like a boom mic, only very short.

It tucks behind the right ear pad, and when lowered, reaches about have way to
my mouth, but no one has any trouble hearing me.

I use a Windows computer, so I don't know if Mac computers would treat the USB
Dongle differently.

You cannot use both at once. Either it is on the bluetooth channel, so you can
talk and listen on the iPhone or on the USB channel with the computer.

I paid about $62 for it from Amazon.

Re: Changing the tip in the Instacart app

2020-05-26 Thread Shirley Baker
They give you choices of tips you can choose and you double tap on one of those
choices and then there's a custom tip that you can add. I believe you would
double tap on custom and type the tip amount in. This is to the best of my
knowledge. If these suggestions don't work, then that's all I can offer.

Re: Seeking recommendation for a Mic

2020-05-26 Thread Richard Turner

Hi Mary,

I am not totally sure how I have done this in the past, but I know I have.

Try double tapping on your name in the app, and then again on "Your Orders".
Then double tap on the date of your order and try the tip button there. Sorry
if this is where you are already trying this, but I think our last order was
too long ago to try to see if it would let me adjust the tip.

Changing the tip in the Instacart app

2020-05-26 Thread Mary Otten
I have been using Instacart lately because of the irus. I just had a great
shopping experience, and I would like to raise my tip. I always leave a tip,
but in this case, I’d like to raise it, and I can’t figure out how to do that.
If I double tap on the tip amount, which is supposed to be a button, nothing
happens.
If I wait until after the stuff is delivered, and then I get to rate the
shopper, there is nowhere on that screen or any other one that I have found,
where I can raise or for that matter lower, the tip. Has anyone been able to do
that? If so how?

I have 204 contacts right now. I have a friend with a Kyocera Dura, and it is
so annoying that she loses contacts, and she has only about 25-30. I'd be
calling Apple and complaining if I lost contacts. I probably wouldn't if I had
six or eight hundred or something like that. I guess you know, that you can put
all four fingers at the bottom of the screen to see how many contacts you have?

To get the first name first, I went to Contacts in Settings, and I think the

I am new to all of this but that isn’t stopping me from adding my two cents

I suspect that haptics

are important for the death and useless for everyone else.

Of course, the haptic feedback for the home button and the ability for the
phone to vibrate are very important.

Mike,

I'd suggest you go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Audio, and Sounds and
Haptics. Take your phone out of its case. You can turn off sounds on this
screen and also turn off Haptics or change the haptic intensity. I feel pretty
sure you can adjust these settings in some combination where you can get a
sense of the differing haptic feedback. If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Alan,

I have my haptic setting at 100%, but when I swipe around the only thing I feel
is the reverberation of the speaker through the back of the phone and what I
hear is the click sounds that the phone makes when swiping. I reset it to, 0 ,
swiped around then set the haptic setting to, 100% , and didn't notice any
difference. Other than the Sound & Haptics in Settings and in Voiceover /
Audio, is there somewhere else to change settings? Hell, maybe everything is
okay and I'm just not getting my head wrapped around this whole haptic thing!
LOL LOL

BTW; after turning my automatic updates to on in the iTunes & App Store, I'm
now getting notified of updates and how many when touching the App Store icon
on the Home screen.

Did you change the haptic intensity found under Settings, Accessibility,
Voiceover, Audio, Haptic intensity? I suggest you try swiping through a few
different controls with that set to 0% and compare it to the 100% setting.

Well, I can send you a link, but let me tell you first how it shows up. It is
coming from a Spotify podcast. I can download it to my phone from Spotify and
it plays without showing an extension. I can select the more button and opt to
save it to Dropbox, but when I do, here is how it shows up in the dropbox
folder:

File May 25, 4 10 29 PM

with no extension

and it is only 20 kb in size.

Do you still want a dropbox link?

You might be able to do this with the screen recording feature, only thing
is that you would hear Voiceover after you start the screen recording and as
you navigate to your Podcast player and start the Podcast, once you are on the
Play button you could mute speech with a 3-finger double tap, then double tap
to start the Podcast and let it play. This will create a video file, you could
afterwards convert it to MP3 using one of the many online converters and, if
you wish, use a program like Goldwave to edit out the initial part where
Voiceover is speaking.

Now, having said all this, it would be a pretty complicated and time
consuming way to record a Podcast which already exists online in some audio
format, most likely MP3. Why not just download the Podcast to your computer?

I need to record some podcasts that are playing on the phone without

Thanks.

Re: How Do You Change Your Contacts in the Way They Show in Section Index?

2020-05-26 Thread Esther
I like first name first as well. I've also heard different theories on how many
contacts you should have on your phone. Someone told me you should only have
100, well others said you could have as many as possible. I would like to know
what you folks think. Some of my disappear and I have to re-enter them. I don't
know what causes this. Thanks everyone. Esther

RE: need a recording program

2020-05-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
What is the format? If you have the file, could you put it in Dropbox and send
me a link? I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a tool available somewhere as you
seem to be able to convert almost anything to anything these days.

the computer, only on the phone and in a weird format, one that can't be

You might be able to do this with the screen recording feature, only thing is
that you would hear Voiceover after you start the screen recording and as you
navigate to your Podcast player and start the Podcast, once you are on the Play
button you could mute speech with a 3-finger double tap, then double tap to
start the Podcast and let it play. This will create a video file, you could
afterwards convert it to MP3 using one of the many online converters and, if
you wish, use a program like Goldwave to edit out the initial part where
Voiceover is speaking.
Now, having said all this, it would be a pretty complicated and time consuming
way to record a Podcast which already exists online in some audio format, most
likely MP3. Why not just download the Podcast to your computer?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a recording program for the phone and or IPad which will
record what is played on the phone without recording external sounds?

I need to record some podcasts that are playing on the phone without grabbing
the noise from the environment around me.

Thanks.

That setting is under settings, contacts.
Do you want it to alphabetize by last name, but show first then last in the
list?
That used to be the default, but check in your settings to be sure.

Of course, the haptic feedback for the home button and the ability for the

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Did you change the haptic intensity found under Settings, Accessibility,
Voiceover, Audio, Haptic intensity? I suggest you try swiping through a few
different controls with that set to 0% and compare it to the 100% setting.

Hi all,

Under sounds and haptics, I find keyboard clicks and system haptics.

I experimented with each turned off and then turned on. I do not see
the difference.

What am I missing?

RE: Query on how to check formatting with Voice Over

2020-05-26 Thread Richard Turner
It is nothing like what you can do on a PC.
I believe with a Bluetooth keyboard, you may be able to get some information,
but it won’t be very detailed at all.
I agree with Alan, even what you can get will depend on the app you are using.

Swati,

Welcome to the list and hopefully someone can help you. The ability to get
formatting info from VoiceOver for the text you're reviewing will depend on
which app you're doing the reviewing with. iOS offers many apps for text
creation or reviewing so the answer will depend on what you're using.

Hi all,
I am writing here for the first time. I hope I will get a reply on my query.
As the subject line suggests, I would like to know is there a way with
which I can check the formatting of the text with voice over on iPhone
as one can do on Windows with a screen reader?
I have iPhone 11
I can apply formatting to selected text but would like to know is
there a way to check the formatting of the text.
Thanks.

need a recording program

2020-05-26 Thread Vicki W.
Hi,

Does anyone know of a recording program for the phone and or IPad which will
record what is played on the phone without recording external sounds?

I need to record some podcasts that are playing on the phone without grabbing
the noise from the environment around me.

Thanks.

Vicki
