You have to go to the Viphone group using your browser, I used Edge with Jaws
for the below instructions:

Click on this link to go to the Viphone
group page

Look for "member ship Settings", if you use Jaws you can do a virtual search
for Settings or Membership

Expand this, then look for where your email is listed where group messages go,
right benieth you should see something like this "Notify me for every new
message (about 62 per day) button menu"

Press enter or spacebar to expand this menu and arrow down until you find
"Don’t send email updates", then find the Save button and activate it.

If you are not signed in with your Google account you will have to do this at
the beginning of these instructions.

I am going into the hospital on October 7th for major surgery. I will be in

Answering Phone With Apple Watch

2020-09-27 Thread Edward Przybylek
Hi all,

For almost two years, I've been using my Apple watch Series 4 to answer and
hang-up calls on my iPhone when I have both with me. I answer and hang-up
by using a two-finger double tap on the face of the watch. This technique
has always worked as expected. For about two months, however, the
two-finger double tap no longer works. I can double tap the face again and
again but nothing happens. I've gone through all the settings on the phone
and the watch but everything appears to be fine. I'd appreciate any ideas
that anyone might have that might help resolve this problem. Thank you.

Take care,

Ed Przybylek

said swipe right with three fingers brings up the today view on the lock
screen. Not on mine for some reason. Four fingers to the right brings up
control center to the left notification center but three fingers to the right
does nothing. Even after I wake up the screen by hitting the side button.

Hi,Jenny,

The backslash key on the computer is the key just under the backspace key.

The backslash on the phone is under symbols which is the key you press for
numbers then again for symbols. I hope this makes sense. I don't do LastPass so
I can't help you with the commands.

Last-pass and dropbox help.

2020-09-27 Thread Jenny Bomareto
Hello all,

When I'm in last-pass and say for example, I want to add a new bank-name in
that folder how do I add all that information along with the password in
Jenny's stuff back slash (other then it's the back-slash sign and where is
the backslash sign on the phone and computer and not the word), banking so
it doesn't get placed just anywhere in last-pass? Also, so I don't have to
do all this information twice, how do I get it on my computer and phone at
the same time? What are the commands I do for this procedure/process using
the computer or phone?

Hope this explanation makes since to you, as I had someone that was doing
all of this prior for me. TIA for your help

IOS 14 & hearings aids

2020-09-27 Thread Agent086b
Hi all,
I installed IOS 14.1 yesterday I always wait for the second release of the
operating system. For those using hearing aids and had a problem with the phone
not letting go of the aids after using VO. It is now fixed. If when you update
the software you get choppy speech, it took Two re-boots of the phone to get VO
to work perfectly. For me this is a real game changer proper working hearing
aids.
Max.

OK, if it was on by default, is there any reason it would just start draining
the battery in the last couple of days? I’m not doubting anyone at all, just
wondering why the impact would have taken so long to notice.

I don't believe you can get to Today view from a locked screen. Tara, a 3
finger swipe right will take you to the today view if your device is unlocked
but it did nothing on my locked iPhone SE 2020.

RE: List question

2020-09-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Take care,
Siegharrd

I am going into the hospital on October 7th for major surgery. I will be in

Re: Vuffalo Vills Sirius App

2020-09-27 Thread Duane Steele
SiriusXM has the NFL games on the iPhone APP now, and the best way to find what
you're looking for is to open the APP and go to sports. There's a whole section
on games in progress and it's random and not consistent, so you'll have to
scroll around to find the broadcast you want to hear.

IOS 14 doesn't change your home screen at all. You can still use your home
pages just as you always have. You won't lose your organization, and you can
continue to place icons on your home pages, rearrange them all you want and
place them in the folders you want. You can find your apps the same way you've
always been finding them. Again, absolutely nothing is changing with respect to
your home pages, so whatever you're hearing is mistaken.

If you want, and this is totally up to you, you can use the apps library. If
you don't want to use it, you can ignore it, and unless you swipe past your
last home page, you'll never even know it's there.

Soundscape is really best used with bone conduction headphones since it speaks
the streets and points of interest out of the side the street or building is on.
For example, where I live, there are lots of places where streets do not go
through the intersection directly, but might be a half a block apart where the
cross street continues.
So, if you are walking down the street you might hear 31st ave out of the
leftear. Walk a bit further and you might hear 31st ave out of the right ear.
That information is confusing if you are not wearing headphones and you don’t
want to be earing headphones unless they are bone conduction so your ears are
open to hearing the traffic, people etc.

GoodMaps Explorer does do outdoors. I just installed it and looked at POIs from
inside my bedroom. It seemed accurate about what I know is around me. I like
its tabs at the bottom of the screen; they make sense to me. It is a free
download. Not sure if its maps are on line or are part of the download, though
the download was fast so I conjecture that maps are online and not downloaded.
Will share more after I have used it outside.

A caviat about indoor maps for this application: someone has to map a space by
walking around it with a backpack of equipment. I saw two places that had
indoor maps within five miles of me: American Printing House for the Blind and
the McDowell Rehabilitation Center, the state rehab facility for persons with
visual impairments. Although the maps do not rely on installation of beacons or
other hardware that must be maintained and powered , they do require someone
with requisite equipment to walk around the space on all floors and then there
are three more steps in making the maps. It is a good idea, but indoor mapping
may be limited by how many facilities want to pay to be mapped and how many
backpacks of equipment are floating around the country to be used to get the
first level of map data.

On the plus side, this company is offering other applications of this
technology, e.g., first responders. I would think such data could also be
useful in coal mines when miners need to get out fast and can’t see because of
smoke from a fire. Many facilities might be inclined to pay for initial map
making for use in emergencies. This data would also make indoor maps for
GoodMaps Explore.

Terrie Terlau

Best,

Terrie Terlau

Screen time monitors how long you use your phone and will send weekly reports
as to which apps you used and for how long.
I think it is a battery drain and would only be useful if someone was
monitoring their children's use of their devices.
Also, turn off raise to wake.
Screen time is on the main settings screen. Raise to wake is under display and
brightnesssettings.

Hello all,

I have an IPhone 8 which is around a year old. I am still on IOS
13.7. The only change I’ve made to the phone recently was to turn off
notifications for apps. In the last 2 days the phone battery seemed
to be dropping at a rapid rate. I’m not a heavy phone user so this
was surprising. Last night I checked & the phone was at 100% at 11PM
& was at 63% at 9AM. I had not used it at all during this time. What should I
check?

And before someone complains, I apologize for not reading the somewhat
recent emails on battery drain. At the time, they did not apply to me
so I deleted them without reading them.

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

Screen time keeps track of how much time you use particular apps on
your iPhone. I forget exactly how I turned it off. I'd recommend
going to page one of your iPhone and checking in there. I know I've

Hello all,

I have an IPhone 8 which is around a year old. I am still on IOS 13.7. The
only change I’ve made to the phone recently was to turn off notifications for
apps. In the last 2 days the phone battery seemed to be dropping at a rapid
rate. I’m not a heavy phone user so this was surprising. Last night I checked
& the phone was at 100% at 11PM & was at 63% at 9AM. I had not used it at all
during this time. What should I check?

And before someone complains, I apologize for not reading the somewhat recent

them without reading them.

Thanks,

There may be a button to switch to aux output. I don't have an echo.
I'm considering purchasing one myself. Also, I'm sure you can't do both, have
the echo connected to your iPhone via bluetooth and use it with an aux cable

Battery Dropping 40 Percent Overnight

2020-09-27 Thread sherrywells1157
Hello all,

I have an IPhone 8 which is around a year old. I am still on IOS 13.7. The
only change I've made to the phone recently was to turn off notifications
for apps. In the last 2 days the phone battery seemed to be dropping at a
rapid rate. I'm not a heavy phone user so this was surprising. Last night
I checked & the phone was at 100% at 11PM & was at 63% at 9AM. I had not
used it at all during this time. What should I check?

And before someone complains, I apologize for not reading the somewhat
recent emails on battery drain. At the time, they did not apply to me so I
deleted them without reading them.

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

Hi Shirley,

Each iPod Shuffle model had a different kind of cable. If I'm thinking of the
same squarish model you are, the cable has a frame and a piece sticking up that
fits into the headphone jack. When you plug it in, it rests on the frame. You
may want to find out the model number and search somewhere like eBay.

Which braille display are you using?

Yes, I’ve tried those key combinations for scrolling but nothing happened. The
app is Flashcards Deluxe and I believe it is a paid app. How do you do the long
press gesture on the braille display?

You may have to use the long-press, or pass-through gesture, which may be
slightly different depending on your braille display followed by the braille
for swipe left or swipe down.
Is this a paid app?

Hi all,

In the flashcard app I use, when you get an answer right you perform a three
finger swipe left to put the card in the correct pile. When you get an answer
wrong you swipe down.
Is it possible to perform a three finger swipe using a braille display?

I’ve tried the scroll left key combination, but it doesn’t work.

Can this be done?

Thanks,
Kim

Re: ipod shuffle

2020-09-27 Thread Anna Dresner

Best,
Anna

Re: Swipe gestures with a braille display?

2020-09-27 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Kimberly,
Adding to what Richard said, there are rocker bars on the front of the display
that you can use to do the three-finger swipe up or down. There are two sets,
and I unfortunately, I can't remember which bar does what. If I didn't state it
before, the rockers are on the Focus displays.

Re: What do you guys think of iWatch six?

2020-09-27 Thread Chris Chaffin

I did not, and have never had to work with a sim card for my Apple Watch. When
I ordered my Apple Watch, I told them who my cell carrier was, and it came
ready to go. All I had to do is call my carrier and let them add it to my cell
plan. This was my experience, I can not say that yours will not be different.

It surely would have been nice if someone from Applevis had acknowledged this

I'm just glad it is back.

It does seem that the search box is back on the AppleVis website, but please
know that this has just been corrected on the site. Richard and others that
reported a few days ago that the search box was no longer there was correct and
was not dreaming! I checked this myself on my phone using Safari, as well as on
my windows computer using multiple screen readers and browsers.

It seems that mentioning this on the list has gotten back to the proper people
at AppleVis and, like i said, it now has been corrected.

Even though I have been using an iPhone since 2011, I still use AppleVis for a
good source of information, especially if I am looking for information about a
particular app or type of app. It is also a good place to check to see what new
apps people are using and have found accessible. I will mention in closing that
Thomas has done several podcast that is on the site that goes over and explains
how to work with all of the new features of ios 14. It is my first stop when a
new version of ios comes out, and I am grateful for having AppleVis as a great
helpful resource.

There are no search boxes, none, nada, nowhere.

If you are looking for information on an app, you cannot simply
 search for it.

Re: applevis.com has no search box

2020-09-27 Thread Chris Chaffin

Yes, if you consider Apple Books to be a reasonable way to read it.

I’ve not seen an alternate version yet. Well, I haven’t looked since the SE
2nd generation since the last few were only in Apple Books.

Open the books app and search for Se user guide and see if you find it.

RE: Swipe gestures with a braille display?

2020-09-27 Thread Richard Turner
You’ve done, space+2,4,6 for swipe left and space+1,4,5,6 for swipe down?

You may have to use the long-press, or pass-through gesture, which may be
slightly different depending on your braille display followed by the braille
for swipe left or swipe down.
Is this a paid app?

Hi all,

In the flashcard app I use, when you get an answer right you perform a three
finger swipe left to put the card in the correct pile. When you get an answer
wrong you swipe down.
Is it possible to perform a three finger swipe using a braille display?

I’ve tried the scroll left key combination, but it doesn’t work.

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Native podcast app: Downloaded vs just epps?

2020-09-27 Thread Gerardo Corripio
I tend to clear up podcasts eps that don’t seem interesting, but I’m seeing two
areas: Downloaded eps, and just eps. Which ones should I give preference in
deleting? And if I delete one or the other, will the changes reflect? For
instance if I delete just the ones that say eps (that aren’t downloaded), will
the Downloaded eps delete themselves, and after how long?
thanks for info.

The focus issues however are not at all fixed fo rme in 14.0.1 on my iPhone 8,

the trial plan that gives u 90 days for free then charges $13.00 per month plus
taxes and fees. This plan does not require you to have a satellite radio, as
many of them do. It’s called premier streaming. I found that you have to
register or sign up for the plan via computer. However, once enrolled, you can
use the sirius xm ap. Hope u get this in time to enjoy Sunday football.

Is this the plan for 16.99 per month?

I have never used Serious but this sounds like a winner.

Not to write short messages, but this is totally awesome!!! Perhaps a
dumb question, but is this change effective immediately? If so, I can
change my subscription to go back to the Premier Streaming plan, and
save some money from the more expensive All Access package. All I
really wanted from Sirius anyway were their music channels and the
NFL. I don't really care about other sports all that much. Wow, this
is cool!
