I agree! I was the victim of identity theft because I hired a stranger to
help wiht mail.

It destroyed my credit rating, and it took years to dig out.

Never again!

And how extensively are the people who can reply to your ad get checked out?
I'd be quite hesitant to let somebody into my house to clean whom I don't
know from a hole in the ground and who potentially has his or her own agenda
with respect to my property or personal well-being.

I found someone to clean via the care app. You just sign up... post an ad...
and you will get messages/applications.

Any questions... let me know.

Hello Joseph,

Home Advisor provides vendors for doing various jobs around the home; not
taking someone shopping, at least, that is my impression.

better doing something like that on home advisor.

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone ever used the care.com app for either iOS or iPad OS?

The reason I ask is because, there are in-app purchases, quite
reasonable ones, actually, but before I spend the money, I would
like to make certain that the app is VoiceOver accessible.

Now in the App Store, there are two listings for the app but I
believe the resulting download is the same. One app lists itself as
being for those seeking baby-sitters; this is misleading because one
can search for people who provide care for anything; for example to
those who are blind or low vision, seniors, etc. the other is
listed as being for those who wish to register to the service as
being a care giver. Again, the same options appear in either of the
downloads which is why I am almost positive that the two app listings
are one-in-the-same.

While the service can be accessed from www.care.com, I would prefer
to register and purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store
so as to be certain that I can easily terminate any subscription without
any hassle.

Also, I don't relish the idea of providing my billing info to yet
another service unless it is absolutely necessary.

As always, all replies greatly appreciated.

Hello Jennifer,

This is great news. I was so busy with the InstaCart app, today, that I only
signed up for a Care.com account. I have yet to subscribe and post; but am
planning to do so soon.

So glad you found someone to assist; I hope I am as fortunate.

I am so relieved to discover that so many independence enabling apps are
finally starting to be consistently VoiceOver accessible. This is not to say
that we don't have far to go; but we have definitely come a long way, as the
proverbial saying goes.

I may contact you, off-list, regarding this service, in the coming days.

RE: Android And iPhone For Sale

2021-01-23 Thread Marco Curralejo
Hello everyone,

I have a couple of items that I am looking to sell, as I have recently
updated to more current devices.

The first item is a 128GB Samsung S10 Plus phone. In perfect condition with
no marks or scratches and no sign of wear or tear. Includes box with all
accessories, as well as a brand-new rubber protective case and a brand-new
screen protector. Asking price is $600 AUD.

The second item is a 256GB Apple iPhone XS Max. Again, in perfect condition,
with a tiny mark from wear and tear on the bottom left-hand corner which is
barely noticeable. Once again, you get the box with all accessories, a
brand-new rubber protective case and a brand-new screen protector. Asking
price for this item is also $600 AUD.

If you are located in Melbourne, I am happy to deliver or you can pick up
for free. Postage costs will need to be applied if you would like the item
posted to you.

Here are some links if you would like further specs and details on either
device.

https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s10+-9535.php

https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_xs_max-9319.php

Please note: Both devices are working perfectly and both batteries are also
working perfectly, as I always take very good care with my devices.

Please PM me or WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal/call/SMS me on +61 412 128 429 if
you would like to discuss or find out any further information.

Finally, photos can be provided of either item upon request.

Warm regards,

Marco Curralejo

Re: A Very Good Experience with Using InstaCart for iOS

2021-01-23 Thread Cris Ali
I used instacarT few times in the last two years. As many people have noted,
the service is quick, the app is accessible, and the customers service is easy
to deal with. However, the prices are significantly higher than what you would
find on the store shelves. If you are on a limited budget you better be
careful. It could eat up into your budget quickly. I admit that I used the
instacart service more than I should have because of covid, but under normal
circumstances I would rarely use it.

like to make certain that the app is VoiceOver accessible.

Now in the App Store, there are two listings for the app but I
believe the resulting download is the same. One app lists itself as
being for those seeking baby-sitters; this is misleading because one
can search for people who provide care for anything; for example to
those who are blind or low vision, seniors, etc. the other is

While the service can be accessed from www.care.com, I would prefer

Also, I don't relish the idea of providing my billing info to yet

RE: Has Anyone Ever Used the Care.com App for iOS / iPad OS?

2021-01-23 Thread M. Taylor

Mark

I found someone to clean via the care app. You just sign up... post an ad...
and you will get messages/applications.
Any questions... let me know.

RE: A Very Good Experience with Using InstaCart for iOS

2021-01-23 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Jenny,

Tallahassee is the Capital of Florida. I am certain that they offer excellent
service in that city.

I live in a tiny suburb of nowhere and they offer delivery service from stores
as far away as 15 miles; this is to say, stores located in the much, much
larger city.

One more thing that impresses me is that both the InstaCart Apple apps and
website, itself, offer accessibility features for low vision customers, as well
as for those who are totally blind.

Very, very nice.

don’t watch out I’ll end up with several hundred dollars worth of stuff in the
cart. In the Explore tab, I can do the equivalent of shopping by aisle, or I

it seem like text isn’t being entered, but it really is, and to invoke the

In the cart, I can review everything in there and remove items with a

Checkout is relatively easy, with picker items that help with delivery
scheduling. If there’s alcohol in my order, I have to put in my birth date and
agree that I won’t be drunk at delivery time, which is okay.
When checkout is complete, I get a list of everything in the order and again, I
can add new items that I may have forgotten, remove items or change quantities.
It’s important to allow Instacart to send me notifications so I know who who’s
shopping and am informed of any possible substitutions that I need to approve.
When the delivery person arrives I get a text and a phone call so that I can
direct him/her to where he or she can park and load up my cart. The delivery
person has almost always gone to my apartment with me and placed bags on my
kitchen counter or dining room table.
It’s very rare that I’ve had missing or incorrect items.
All in all my experiences have been very positive and I recommend the service

You will have to turn the rotor to Direct Touch and flick up to on and then for
that session it should work fine. This, I hope, will be fixed in iOS 14.4.

2021-01-23 Thread Robert stigile
Hello all,
I have been using Instacart for about three years now.
It is a great tool to have and I have only had a couple of instances where I
have not received everything that I ordered or the item was wrong.
I have found that the customer service of the app is wonderful. If you’re
missing items or something is wrong, they will refund you it just takes a
little time. The app is great.

Re: A Very Good Experience with Using InstaCart for iOS

2021-01-23 Thread Tom Lange
I’ve used Instacart for two or three years now and love it. In spite of its
quirks, the IOS app is very easy to use, and one thing that I really like is
that the app remembers items that I’ve purchased in the past. So when I’m ready
to stock up, I go into the My Items list, flick through the items, find an item
that I want and with a single-finger flick up, it’s added to the cart. If I
don’t watch out I’ll end up with several hundred dollars worth of stuff in the
cart. In the Explore tab, I can do the equivalent of shopping by aisle, or I
can use the search field at the top of the screen. There is a quirk which makes
it seem like text isn’t being entered, but it really is, and to invoke the
search, I’ll double-tap the Search button at the lower right corner of the
screen. The Results list behaves much like the My Items list.
In the cart, I can review everything in there and remove items with a
single-finger flick down or increase quantities by flicking up.
All in all my experiences have been very positive and I recommend the service
and the app highly.

A Very Good Experience with Using InstaCart for iOS

2021-01-23 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Earlier this week, I signed up for the InstaCart delivery service, via the
iOS app.

I must say, I was extremely impressed with the results.

While it took me quite some time to learn how to navigate the app, once I
completed my order, the food items I purchased were delivered within 90
minutes.

Not bad, not bad, at all.

I actually got mine on ebay a few months ago for only $99. I'm very happy with
them. They were renewed, so not brand new, but they might as well be. If you
can find another deal like that, I would go for that instead.

You can go to the VoiceOver settings under Voiceover recognition.

You may also have to add screen recognition and image recognition to the
rotor but start with turning them off in the VoiceOver Recognition settings.

It is designed supposedly to help when an app developer doesn’t use VoiceOver
accessible labels, which sometimes helps, but mostly is a problem in my
experience.

Rather than forcing developers to do things right, Apple is trying to help us
out to make things more accessible. This is a new thing, so maybe it will get
better in time.

  Hi,

Since I installed the latest IOS on my mini IPad and phone, every time I
select a button I get a graphic announcement, usually weather related. When I
am selecting by headings, I get other types of graphics, usually two or three
image announcements per letter. I know there is a way to turn this off, but I
can't remember where.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

  Thanks.

I guess any cloud solution such as Dropbox or google drive may help.

RE: images question

2021-01-23 Thread Richard Turner
You can go to the VoiceOver settings under Voiceover recognition.
You may also have to add screen recognition and image recognition to the rotor
but start with turning them off in the VoiceOver Recognition settings.
It is designed supposedly to help when an app developer doesn't use VoiceOver
accessible labels, which sometimes helps, but mostly is a problem in my
experience.
Rather than forcing developers to do things right, Apple is trying to help us
out to make things more accessible. This is a new thing, so maybe it will get
better in time.

Subject: images question

Hi,

Since I installed the latest IOS on my mini IPad and phone, every time I select
a button I get a graphic announcement, usually weather related. When I am
selecting by headings, I get other types of graphics, usually two or three
image announcements per letter. I know there is a way to turn this off, but I
can't remember where.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Vicki
