Re: A Solution for VoiceOver's Having way TOOOOOOOO Much Punctuation

2021-05-20 Thread 'cwc' via VIPhone
I had to do a total restore, then, when I did, the problem still existed. I
went back to reset and reset all settings. then it was fixed.
unfortunately, I had to restore all of my settings. I am still finding
settings that I forgot about.

Spotify and Pandora are free apps that are downloaded from the app store. Both
allow the end user to type the name of a genre, artist, or song. Spotify also
has playlists created by staff and end users on every musical theme and
lifestyle imaginable.

Re: Question about Instant Pot and iPhone

2021-05-20 Thread Jenny Bomareto
That’s the exact reason why Matt did not get an Insta pot that can be
controlled through the echo or Alexa or stuff like that. That’s why he got the
Insta pot duo Evo 7+ the 8 quart and it has all buttons on it and the dial. And
yes you can use it with no difficulty just put braille on the buttons do you
like or for rice beef or bake so on and so forth and

you can use Be My Eyes as you know it’s awesome to have this new technology of
today. Thanks for your prompt attention!

 Good morning,

I hope this is a good list to ask this question.
A few years ago, I got one of the first Smart Instant Pots that hooked up
to the iPhone via Bluetooth. It worked well, and while I could use it to
some extent with just the buttons, I found that being able to use it with
my phone really helped and made it easier to take advantage of its
 capabilities.
Since I upgraded to my iPhone 12, I found that my Instant Pot doesn’t
connect to my phone. I thought I had to re-pair it via the app, and when
I tried going that direction, either my phone or the Instant Pot didn’t
seem to recognize one another. If there is some recognition, it is only
for an instant, and then it goes away and I can’t use the Instant Pot
 with the phone.
I’m wondering what you think could be wrong, or if I should get one of
 the newer ones.
I like being able to use it and set the temperatures with ease without
having to memorize and count and do all of those extra things.
This is still in good condition, except for the Bluetooth capabilities.
What are people using now? What do you guys think about the newer Smart
Instant Pots? How accessible are they? Are they worth it?
I’d like to read your thoughts before I make any decisions.
 Jim

Yes, they are just packing material.

I would save them in the original box in case you have to ship the Airpods
Max back for some reason.

Notice, the reason they sound so tinny is that you are blocking the speaker
with the solid plastic back of those protective covers.

And, they are lose, not going to give you the noise cancelation you get with
the foam pads, which are extremely comfortable and amazingly good sound
blockers.

  Hello all:

I believe that the hard plastic shells referenced in the original message are
just packing materials that are meant to protect the ear pads during shipping.
They should be removed and discarded. Thus, the proper Airpods Max setup
consists of the aluminum earcups to which the ear pads are attached; nothing
additional goes over the ear pads. In other words, when wearing the headphones,
the soft foam of the ear cushions should be in contact with your head. I hope
that this clarifies the situation.

But, again, if you receive an email from this group, in Windows mail, and hit
your reply to all, it is going to come to the list; even if it also goes to the
individual.
Try it and see if that is true.
Maybe Windows Mail is very unique...

Here's where I think the confusion is: With Windows mail, control + R goes to
the sender only, and control +shift plus R goes to all in the group. BUT, when
you send something to this list, control + r sends to the group address that
goes out to all. Does this make sense? But don't ask me for the tech
explanation because I have no clue.

Hi. This is Maria. I'm just wondering, first of all, did I memorize the e-mail
address for the V iPhone list correctly? Also, let's say somebody like Karen
e-mails the mailing list, and I reply to her. Does my reply only go to Karen,
or does everybody see my message? I mean, if I press Control R to reply to her,
does the reply only go to her, or does it go to the entire mailing list? I'm
just making sure it goes to the entire list, or do I have to press reply all,
not just reply? Thanks.

RE: scanning apps

2021-05-20 Thread Richard Turner
It claims to.
But again, I would never recommend using an app for a book, at least not
currently, and KNFB Reader in particular as it has many issues since version 3
was released.
I’ve not kept up with it since other apps perform better even though they do
not have column recognition as yet.

And, unless someone has it already, it ain’t worth $100.

If Openbook, then the Pearl camera and Openbook will give better results than
any app on an iPhone at this time.
With Openbook, you can have it separate the facing pages, so you can scan two
pages at once and have them treated as two pages.
Plus, Openbook can deal with columns, where no scanning app can as yet.

I’m not sure Winston is going to implement column recognition any time soon, if
ever.

SuperSense is working on column recognition, which would help in separating
facing pages, but I would not try scanning a book with an iPhone or Android
device without a good stand so you don’t have to continually raise the phone to
the perfect spot each time….

If you have it on auto-capture, once you are steady at the loudest tone for 2
or 3 seconds, it will take the picture.
You want to be 10 to 12 inches above a full 8.5 by 11 document to get the best
results.
Supersense, tells you in words to move farther away, or 1 inch to the left,
etc. Supersense has a free trial, and if you are convinced by it, right now it
is haf price for a lifetime subscription for $49.99. Or there are monthly or
yearly plans.
Voice Dream Scanner on the other hand, is $5.99 one time purchase.
They both have great points about them and Supersense is designed to deal with
more objects than just text.
You could also use the free Seeing AI app to scan a single page.
Good luck.

Richard

Spotify and Pandora are free apps that are downloaded from the app
store. Both allow the end user to type the name of a genre, artist,

Re: Question about Instant Pot and iPhone

2021-05-20 Thread Penny Reeder
Very unfortunately, the BlueTooth accessible InstantPot app is not accessible
with the latest update to the Iphone, IoS 14.5. The company that makes the
InstantPot reportedly says they have no plan to repair or update the BlueTooth
app. They now make a WiFi model that has a somewhat accessible app that also
connects through the Amazon.com Echo (Alexa). I don’t know what i am going to
do about this. I resent having to buy a new IP, since the one i have still
works with the buttons, but i, too, always enjoyed the level of control and
and information i had with my phone. I am thinking about labeling the buttons
with braille and trying to control it with the buttons but i won’t have nearly
as much confidence, especially about setting the time. Penny

Re: Question about Instant Pot and iPhone

2021-05-20 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Jim,
I found that when I upgraded to one of the iOS 14 versions, which I now don’t
remember if it was four or five, my Bluetooth app quit working. It would not
open. And that has not changed. The app is no longer in the App Store. If I try
to open the app, I get a notice on my iPhone saying that the developer needs to
update the app. But it’s no longer in the store and is not being supported.
Therefore, you should not look forward to being able to use your Bluetooth app
anymore at least in my experience. Somebody said there’s was still working, but
I don’t remember if it was on this list or somewhere else, and I have to think
it’s a fluke. But I can’t explain it.

RE: scanning apps

2021-05-20 Thread Richard Turner
Which scanning application is she using?
If Openbook, then the Pearl camera and Openbook will give better results than
any app on an iPhone at this time.
With Openbook, you can have it separate the facing pages, so you can scan two
pages at once and have them treated as two pages.
Plus, Openbook can deal with columns, where no scanning app can as yet.

I’m not sure Winston is going to implement column recognition any time soon, if
ever.

SuperSense is working on column recognition, which would help in separating
facing pages, but I would not try scanning a book with an iPhone or Android
device without a good stand so you don’t have to continually raise the phone to
the perfect spot each time….

you have text in view is a tone that plays. The louder the tone, the more text.
If you have it on auto-capture, once you are steady at the loudest tone for 2

Good luck.

Question about Instant Pot and iPhone

2021-05-20 Thread Jim Portillo
Good morning,

I hope this is a good list to ask this question.

A few years ago, I got one of the first Smart Instant Pots that hooked up to
the iPhone via Bluetooth. It worked well, and while I could use it to some
extent with just the buttons, I found that being able to use it with my
phone really helped and made it easier to take advantage of its
capabilities.

Since I upgraded to my iPhone 12, I found that my Instant Pot doesn't
connect to my phone. I thought I had to re-pair it via the app, and when I
tried going that direction, either my phone or the Instant Pot didn't seem
to recognize one another. If there is some recognition, it is only for an
instant, and then it goes away and I can't use the Instant Pot with the
phone.

I'm wondering what you think could be wrong, or if I should get one of the
newer ones.

I'd like to read your thoughts before I make any decisions.

Jim

RE: Regarding sending e-mails, and replying to e-mails.

2021-05-20 Thread Richard Turner
First, yes, you got the group address correct.
Everyone sees the message because when you hit reply, it is replying to the
group, because you received the message from the group; not from an individual.
That is why groups that use a different list service have a reply to sender
option at the bottom of the messages to make it easier to reply off list to
someone directly; but those services may have a cost; I'm not sure.

If you can get into the From section of the email you wish to reply to a person
from; you can copy their direct email list from there and replace the group
address in the to field.
I hope that makes sense.

RE: Air Pods max Question

2021-05-20 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, they are just packing material.
I would save them in the original box in case you have to ship the Airpods Max
back for some reason.

Hi Karen & Timothy,

These steps work for both the older SE 2016 & the newer SE 2020 iPhones:
1. Open Settings / Accessibility / Voiceover, or tell Siri to open Voiceover
settings.

2. Swipe to, Audio button, and do a single finger double tap to open.

3. Swipe to, Audio select speaker in call, and if this is, Off, do a single
finger double tap to turn it on.
Description : During audio calls automatically switch to the speaker when not
holding the iPhone to your ear.

Stay safe and take care. Mike.
