Re: I must be the red headed step child.

2021-05-27 Thread Donna Casteen
Carolyn,

Sounds like you possibly may have missed doing a step. After downloading
Pandora you would have been asked to enter an email & choose a password. You
would have been sent an email to confirm your email address that you would have
had to click on a link to confirm email address. You would have had to login
using the email & password that you chose during the sign up. All music service
apps are going to require you to sign up in order to use their music service.
Check your spam & trash folders for an email from Pandora. These were the steps
that I had to take 3 weeks ago when I signed up for the 3mos Free trial of
Pandora. My other thought is that yesterday you accidently entered the wrong
email or password.

2021-05-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I would have never noticed because I always find I get better results both in
Google as well as on the App Store if I tap search after typing my search term.
I can confirm this since I just updated, but it certainly isn't what I would
call a big inconvenience and certainly not an accessibility issue.

Please do not update this version of google. In previous versions one could
simply tipe in a phrase or word en you could hear the results, this is nolonger
possible.
However, when pressing search in the end, you can hear results but I know most
of us prefered the other way it is certainly a regression in accessibility.

To all the VoiceDream Writer users,

I hope you can join me to send the request to the VD Writer developer to allow
the app to safe files in a folder structures.

I used to use the VD writer app as my main note taker app. Unfortunately after
usin the app for a long while, I created so many files. But all the files are
listed in the same area and it makes harder to find and not possible to group
them in the same topic.

I have submitted my comment and suggestion to the developer to have this
feature. Unfortunately it has not happen . I have to switch to other note taker
app which have the folder structure. But I like the VD Writer app very much and
hate to delete it from my phone.

If you think this feature is worth to include, may I ask you to join me to send
the request to the developer? Hopefully the developer will consider to add the
feature in next release.

Many tanks in advance for your cooperation.

Cheering for you!

Sorry, forgot, I just checked and there is a captcha required before you can
send it. There is no audio option, but going onto the graphic and using Jaws
OCR for the control, Jaws Key + Spacebar followed by O and C did recognize it
for me and I was able to send the message after entering the code which I think

RE: Switching over to Sonos S2 controler

2021-05-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The OS on your phone makes no difference, the S1 controller works fine on the
latest version of iOS, but unless you have older hardware such as a Connect,
Connect Amp, original Play 5 etc. there is no reason to use the S1 controller.
There are also third party Sonos remotes available in the App Store, I
personally don't see a point in using them, but one of them is SonoPhone which
according to the description works with all Sonos products and can be used even
on an iPhone 4S or old iPod Touch, but this is not a free app.
There is also an app called Lyd which is a Sonos Controller for the Apple
Watch, it is also not free.
Lastly I also just saw an app called Sonos Automation which offers SIRI
shortcuts for Sonos. One interesting point the developer makes is that unlike
with the actual Sonos Controller where you have to be on the same WiFi network
to connect and control your system, his SIRI shortcuts work from anywhere and
yu can ask SIRI to play something even if you are not at home.

It is basically the same at least it was when I last used the S1 app before
upgrading all my old Connect and Connect:Amp devices to either Sonos Amp or
Port devices. I assume that as time goes by there maybe features in the S2
controller which don't exist in the S1 controller because the older hardware
doesn't support them, but I think for now it's very similar. Of course you do
have to be sure that all your Sonos speakers are S2 compatible.

Can people share their experience what it was like to switch over from the
original Sonos app to the new one? Also, do all of the older speakers need to
switch over at the same time? I have unpacked one speaker, but I am not sure
where the second one is. We have two play ones.

If I end up buying a Roam, I know I will need to switch to the new app.

Thank you,

I used to use the VD writer app as my main note taker app. Unfortunately after

I have submitted my comment and suggestion to the developer to have this

Is there any way of removing the camera and flashlight from the control

When I go to control center, and double tap on reorder flashlight, or
camera, they’re still there when I go back to control center.
I just read that I O S 14.6 has been released, are there any new features?

If you had not closed the file, there would have been an undo.
It is toward the bottom of the edit screen, above the keyboard, If you find the
cursor button, and flick right you have:
Cursor, Cursor Movement Unit, Select Text, Start Proof Reading, Undo, Redo,
Dismiss keyboard.
Those may be dimmed if they are not available at the time.

Hello Listers,

I have cloud enabled in the VoiceDream Writer APP, and, this morning, I went
into a file containing a number of e-mail addresses and instead of copying the
text selected to the clipboard, I accidentally cut the text. Is there a way to
retrieve the text, or is it gone forever? I tried to undo what I'd done, but

Clubhouse Event, and Updates From The Supersense Blog

2021-05-27 Thread Shane Lowe
Hey everyone,
I hope you're doing well! We've been writing a ton of stuff over the
past two months that you may be curious to read.
Before I get into that though, feel free to join me on Clubhouse
tomorrow, May 28 at 4 PM Eastern for an open chat about Supersense and
Super Lidar. It would be a lot of fun to connect! Here's the link to
the event. You can use this link to join Clubhouse, as well, if you
don't already have it. See you tomorrow!
https://www.clubhouse.com/event/MRDwW2Jz

Now then, onto the reading!
My friend Daisy Russell, soon to be a published author, took time out
of her schedule to write a bit about Instacart. You can read it here:
https://www.supersense.app/post/accessible-shopping-instacart-review
You can also learn more about her book, Wicked Rebellion, and attend
the book launch here: https://m.facebook.com/events/856741008521827

We've been working with a ton of guest writers lately, and this one
specializes in programming as a blind person!

Another of our guest authors wrote this post about an accessible
kitchen, and the instant pot:
https://www.supersense.app/post/accidentally-accessible-a-kitchen-story

We also posted a collection of our accessibility-related posts for
accessibility awareness week!

Finally, I got to sit down with Ellif, a blind psychologist and
professor living in Turkey to share her story:

Happy reading, and as always, let us know if there's anything you ever

All the best,--

RE: Question about Pandora.

2021-05-27 Thread Carolyn
I tried to get James Taylor radio. Siri said I'd have to make Pandora available
or something like that. So, I went, had to enter password and an email address,
tried hitting the finish button, and finally was told they could not do this at
this time. Clearly, I am missing something. I am in kindergarten, when it comes

Carolyn, if you want to hear specific songs, then you'd need to pay for a
different music service like youtube music. I could ask Siri to either play a
particular artist, or hear a specific song on youtube music, and Siri will open
up youtube music, and play the song I want if it is available.

that might be a bit of a problem in somewhere like london for example,
where there ain't really any woods around.

personally, as I love my open water swimming, a guide seaLion would suit
me a lot better.

for the more land based stuff, I wish I could use my horse Lizzie, as I
could ride her as well, so she would be both my guide, and transport.

think that may be a bit of a problem when needing to go somewhere by

Yes, we call them dinner bells (as a joke of course because they do
work). Then of course there is the pepper spray which if your are unlucky the
bear will take away from you and use it for seasoning 藍

Fortunately most bears aren't all that interested in eating you
although there are exceptions, Mummy bears of course may decide to take you out
if you accidently got too close to their babies and they think you are a thread
and there are sometimes simply bears which are aggressive and which for the
most part havde lost their natural fear of humans because they have gotten too
used to us and those are usually the ones which are more dangerous.

My wife and I went for a walk on the trails around our town last fall
and we came around a bend and here was my yellow lab running full out towards a
black bear probably thinking that he looked like a good playmate. My previous
dog seemed to have his natural instincts a lot more and he always alerted me
when there was a bear or moose nearby. Anyways, the bear fortunately was not
aggressive and probably had eaten plenty of salmon in order to fatten himself
up for the long sleep ahead, I yelled at my dog and he braked to a stop a foot
or two in front of the bear and then came back. I started yelling and we backed
up and all was well, but even though we had just passed a group of people maybe
a hundred yards further back this is not an encounter I need too often because
it could have gone either way.

Best regards,

Sieghard

I heard the author Bill Bryson in person once, and he was telling about
his adventures and the warnings he received from the outdoor equipment store
salesperson about walking through bear country.

Salesperson: Make lots of noise. Wearing bells is a good way to do
that.

Hi, Everyone,

I swam with sea lions too and it was a lot of fun! I didn't notice any odors
from them either, but perhaps some do. Take care.

Re: An iPhone Question

2021-05-27 Thread Richard Turner
When you go into settings, control center, and find the reorder camera, or
reorder flashlight buttons, you have to do the double tap and hold gesture,
then drag your finger down the screen until you hear it go below something that
is in the lower section that have an insert button because they are not already
in the control center.
Then when you open the control center on its own, you will not see camera or
flashlight,.
It appears at least with 14.6, that you cannot move or reorder anything prior
to Screen Mirroring.
But everything else is up for grabs.

I don’t know if you could remove them however, I’m sure you could move them to
the bottom.

Hello all,

Is there any way of removing the camera and flashlight from the control center,

When I go to control center, and double tap on reorder flashlight, or camera,
they’re still there when I go back to control center.
I just read that I O S 14.6 has been released, are there any new features?

Question about Dice world sounds and hearing aids

2021-05-27 Thread Johna Gravitt
Hello,
My husband has hearing aids and plays dice world on his iPhone. Nothing he
does makes the sounds for dice world run through his hearing aids, while all
other sounds do.
Any suggestions?
He's tried the audio routing in the rotter and that didn't work either.

Hi:

The problem is not that the side switch is on mute.

The problem is that when she touches the bottom of the screen to get to the
home screen, she doesn’t here any sound to let her know that she can slide up
to the home or app switcher. She turned that off because she had an iPhone 8
which had a home button. When she restored from a backup when they set up her
iPhone 12 Pro max, that option is still turned off.

I can not remember the name of that sound and can not turn it back on for her.

We’ve looked in accessibility, VoiceOver, where there is a “more” button which
describes the gestures, but it doesn’t mention the sounds.

Have you / they checked the mute toggle on the side of the phone,

Left side above the volume buttns?

Ensure it is flicked towards the face of the phone

To unmute if that is what the issue is.

Hello:

I have a perplexing problem.

I am working with a client who has turned off the sound that your iPhone makes
when you slide up from the bottom or down from the top of the screen. Does
anybody know what that sound is called and how do you turn it back on?

I’ve never had this problem before. Mine has always worked and I never wanted
to turn it off!

An iPhone Question

2021-05-27 Thread Noe Villeda
Hello all,

Is there any way of removing the camera and flashlight from the control
center, and from the lock screen?

When I go to control center, and double tap on reorder flashlight, or
camera, they're still there when I go back to control center.

I just read that I O S 14.6 has been released, are there any new features?

Noe

They don’t have to though in the UK, they got an exemption in law. Other people
can get a fine of £1000 if they are caught but people seldom get charged, I
wish they did.

Yeah but then another blind person will probably come and walk over it which is
disgusting!!! In my area there’s lots of dog poo around on the street and you
always feel extra apprehensive in case you step in it. Other people just go
around or over it but of course blind people have no choice but to go through
it if they are walking alone.

exactly, yet another point in the robot's favour. although here in the UK, I
believe guide dog users are exempt from having to clear it up. I know they used
to be anyway, but not sure if that is still the case now.

and yet another point, is that the robot one should take you to exactly where
you want to go, even if you have no idea of how to get there, and no sense of
direction, where as that would probably be a heck of a lot to ask from the
standard guide dog.

possibly, but unlike the real dog, one won't have to be so concerned about it
getting too distracted by such attention, and the robot one could very easily
even be programmed to say something along the lines of, "buzz off, I'm trying

By nature, people are curious. Anything different will attract their attention.
Rightly or wrongly, one of the things I like about being a guide dog owner is
that I feel the attention tends to go to the dog rather than me. A robot guide
dog is likely to draw just as much attention.

What about dirt cheap laytex gloves?

Or, are you just kidding around?

It’s not difficult,

They just find it hard cleaning the poo out from under their finger nails.

Why is it so hard for blind folks to pickup dog poop?

I mean really, if you can’t pick it up, maybe a dog isn’t for you.

I know they used
to be anyway, but not sure if that is still the case now.

and yet another point, is that the robot one should take you to exactly where
you want to go, even if you have no idea of how to get there, and no sense of
direction, where as that would probably be a heck of a lot to ask from the
standard guide dog.

possibly, but unlike the real dog, one won't have to be so concerned about it
getting too distracted by such attention, and the robot one could very easily
even be programmed to say something along the lines of, "buzz off, I'm trying
to do a job here, and you are not helping"

By nature, people are curious. Anything different will attract their attention.
Rightly or wrongly, one of the things I like about being a guide dog owner is
that I feel the attention tends to go to the dog rather than me. A robot guide
dog is likely to draw just as much attention.
