Well, I tested it, and I still see a pause button, just takes some flicking
around. I own an 8 Plus running 14.6 of IOS.

If you actually flick to where it says half screen double tap that and then
you’ll see more options and one of those buttons is a pause button hopefully
that helps

Voiceover-only user.

My problem did turn out to be a labelling problem but a very unusual one.
Somehow, and I have no idea how, a user-defined label ended up assigned to the
page number element. This was not something I had done but nevertheless, the
weird words I was hearing were assigned to the page number.

To fix this I did the following...

1. Swiped down to highlight the page number element on the home screen.
2. Used the two-finger double tap and hold gesture to bring up the element
label function. I held until I heard three beeps and then let go. This gave me
the screen with a text field that I could edit. Sure enough, the weird words I
was hearing were in the text field.
3. I deleted the text in the text field, than entered one space, and then saved
the label.

As I say, I have no idea how those words got there but this fixed my problem.
If somehow, the text messsage your husband is hearing ended up in this label
field somehow, then this might account for what and where he is hearing what
appears to be a text message but is actually a field label.

To me, it makes sense that this condition could transfer from his iphone to his
ipad since user-defined field labels are carried across through iCloud for
devices using the same Apple ID.

I hope this helps.

2021-06-26 Thread Dave Clement
Hi Kay,

No, that was just one more weird thing about the problem. I only had to check
the labelling on the page number element. Once I cleared that, the words
stopped coming out in all the other places it was happening. I never figured
out why it was occuring in other places besides the page number but one fix
fixed them all.

Good luck.

posted to a couple of groups how I was doing. He would send texts to everyone
and then of course delete them. Now back to around a half year ago when I O S
14 came out. He upgraded and now there is one text that he sent at this time
showing up at the top of pages, down where the page adjust bar is and other
places as well. It covers up things and makes it a pain to do a lot of what
should be simple. He has called Apple and they have thought that it might be a
labeling issue. They have taken everything off his phone and then they say
that they can see it. It is not a labeling issue. They have said that they
would send it up the line to the engineering team, but nothing is ever heard.
Now last week he got an iPad and when he set it up he set it up through the
iCloud and guess what? That text is now on his iPad. It must have to do with
something in the iCloud. He called Apple tech support and got the usual run
around. He is going to get a new iPhone within the next week and if he
registers it using his info that text will be on it as well. Where can someone
go to get to a higher level of tech support that will help him to get this
fixed once and for all? If that means dumping his iCloud account and starting
over from scratch, then so be it. Please if anyone has any thoughts on this it
would be appreciated.

Under settings, Messages,

What does he have set for keep messages?
If it is set to forever, then that message will probably continue to haunt him.

Does he only have one way for people to send texts to him? Like by his phone
number?
You can have multiple ways like an iCloud address, a .me address, your regular
email address, etc.
Making sure that he only has his preferred method selected under the message
settings, Send and Receive.

I hope that helps.

Hi Wayne,

My opinion is that the wired Apple earpods for use with the iPhone is the best
wired alternative available for the price. I haven't experienced the quality
issues that you have but I alternate using mine with Apple Airpods so my usage
might not be as extensive as yours. I find that many products can suffer in
their quality after a number of years as manufacturers do what they can to make
them at the lowest possible cost. But, at $19 for a new set directly from
Apple, down from their original price of $30, I find the wired Earpods worth
the price especially considering they were made for the iPhone and their
separate remote and volume buttons work great with iPhone apps such as BARD
Mobile. And I hesitate to mention fit since this is personal to each person,
but I've never used any earbuds that fit as well nor sound as good while still
letting in some ambient sound as the Apple Earpods.

Good luck with your shopping.

All,
My original purpose in not buying the 'earbuds from Apple was partly price, but
it was also their construction. Granted, these aren't as advanced as other
models out there, not to mention the wireless choices, but I have had quite a
few gradually or suddenly lose sound in one ear, exhibit a crackling sound
randomly in 1 ear, or even 1 earbud set physically came apart while I was
listening to an American football game. Like someone else has said, whenever I
get a new device I typically buy 1 or 2 extra earbuds, if only to stockpile. My
sighted wife has had the same issue, though I'm not sure hers has been as
frequent as mine. Finally, 1 of the recommendations given was for a 3.5mm jack,
but I would need a Lightning jack or chord for the earbuds.

RE: Wired alternative to Apple Lightning earbuds

2021-06-26 Thread Alan Lemly

Alan Lemly

All,
My original purpose in not buying the 'earbuds from Apple was partly price, but
it was also their construction.

Kind regards,

Wayne Merritt

That might work with Humanware displays, but not Orbit displays as far as I
know.
Humanware I think were the ones who introduced that layered keystroke in their

So, for a capital R, you would first use U with Space followed by the letter r.

RE: Installing MacOs on windows laptop

2021-06-26 Thread Christopher Chaltain
There’s lots of information on the web on how to do this. Just perform a web
search. You can also search on Hackintosh. If this is important to you though,
you may want to check the EULA for MacOS to see if you’re violating any
conditions set by Apple.

Theoretically yes,

Practically I don’t believe it can be done.

I do know that it was done a number of years back by someone on a I believe an
Acer triple E notebook, but there was a lot of work done to make it work for
the people involved.

However that’s going back the best part of 10 years.
And now I think you’d be pushing it.

However no reason why you couldn’t try it,

But good luck,

Or check out the likes of VM Work station or virtual box, but again pushing
