Ah, I know what you're talking about then. I've seen it to, but I haven't
gotten really annoyed with it yet though. It would be nice if it had another
option that said something like don't show me these messages anymore.

I'm not sure what's going on with the contacts either, but I don't think I'm
seeing this. I'm curious, what app are we talking about? What is your default
contact list?

The App Switcher issue was in the report that AppleVis put out when IOS 16 was
released. I'm seeing it as well. I'd suggest reporting it to Apple
accessibility. It wouldn't be on AppleVis's list if someone hadn't already
reported it to Apple, but the more people who report it, the more attention
it'll get.

I'm going to take a guess here. It is asking if you want to use the known or
unknown contacts, right? I've never seen it ask for anything other than the
default contacts, but I don't have them sorted like that.

As to why you have to hear the name twice in the app switcher, only Apple
knows. I'd write them and suggest they fix that since it is completely
unnecessary.

Hello all

How can I set my mail and contacts to not constantly ask me which list or
contact list to use? On my 6S andbefore the update I only told the phone to
sort into known and unknown. Now I get othr headings I do not want to have to
reset continually.

I continue to scrutinize settings but still keep missing things
that are causing redundancy that is totally unwelcome.

I feellike just using my old phone with an older update on it.

And, why do I now have to hear the name of the app I want to
close twice in the app switcher before having to swipe again to close or
activate the app? This too is new.

Not sure what exactly that means since all iPhones have been shaped more or
less the same with the exception of their size and the fact of very square or
slightly rounder edges.

There never has been a classic candy bar style iPhone which referred to older
cell phones which were quite narrow and long.

OK,

Under Settings, Notifications, mail, find the customize notifications
button. There will be separate settings for each account if you have more
than one account.

You can assign a different sound for each account if you want, but you will
want to be sure that Alert, Sounds, and Badges are on under this section.

Again, on the first level, leave notification center unselected.

For messages, I have allow notifications on at the very top.

Then, in the alerts heading, Allow on lock screen and allow as banner are
selected. Allow in notification center is not selected.

I also have announce notifications on.

I have show previews as never.

Notification grouping is automatic.

I don’t have to clear messages from the notification center.

I read them and they are gone…

Well Mike, if you don’t mind reading a little more crap, , I think I know
how you need your settings set.

Open settings, notifications.

Find the Mail app.

Flick to Allow in notification Center, if that says selected, double tap and
it should no longer say selected.

Back out of the settings, and that should fix it.

The same for messages.

RE: Startup and shutdown sound on iPhone 14

2022-09-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, this is definitely a new Siri capability or maybe it requires iOS 16, but
it also works on my iPhone 11 and it is nice that it is finally possible to
actually restart the phone instead of having to completely turn it off and back
on.
You can also power your device off completely by telling Siri "Turn off my
phone" or "Power off my iPhone" etc.
Siri will also ask for confirmation "Just to confirm, you want to power off
this device", if you say Yes it will shut down and of course if you change your
mind you can say no and nothing happens.

if this can be done with the A15 chip why this option is not available at least
on all iPhone 13 models; it may simply be that there is some other hardware

Anyways, as long as you have an iPhone 14 apparently of any variation you can
definitely enable it. A Google search for "enabling startup sound on iPhone 14

first result:

How to Enable iPhone 14 Startup Chime

Open the Settings app on your iPhone 14.

Scroll down and tap Accessibility.

Scroll down until you reach the Hearing section.

Tap Audio/Visual.

Tap the toggle next to Power On & Off Sounds to turn this feature on.

And here is the text of an article from Macrumors which clearly states
that all iPhone 14 models have this feature, not just iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max:

iPhone 14: How to Enable the New Power On and Off Sounds

For the iPhone 14 series, Apple has added an optional new accessibility
feature that plays a sound when the iPhone is powered on and off. Here's how to
enable them.

Apple added the startup and shutdown chimes as a new accessibility
feature after many Blind users and people with low-vision reportedly asked the
company for a clear way to tell whether their iPhone had restarted, and now
anyone can enable them.

Here's how to enable the new feature on iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus,
iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone 14.

2. Scroll down and tap through to Accessibility .

3. Under "Hearing," tap Audio/Visual .

4. Toggle on the switch next to Turn On & Off Sounds .

That's all there is to it. You'll now know whenever your iPhone has
started up or shut down without even having to look at the screen.

To disable the sounds, simply turn off the same toggle in Settings.

Not sure what exactly that means since all iPhones have been shaped more or
less the same with the exception of their size and the fact of very square or
slightly rounder edges.
There never has been a classic candy bar style iPhone which referred to older
cell phones which were quite narrow and long.

When you say the iPhone, * first generation*, are you referring to the SE2016?
If so, mine would only update to iOS15.7 and no further.

OK,

Under Settings, Notifications, mail, find the customize notifications button.
There will be separate settings for each account if you have more than one
account.

Open settings, notifications.

Find the Mail app.

Flick to Allow in notification Center, if that says selected, double tap and it

Back out of the settings, and that should fix it.

The same for messages.

RE: mail and contact headings

2022-09-30 Thread Christopher Chaltain

Message Alerts vs Notification Center

2022-09-30 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

Using an SE2020 iPhone running iOS15.7. It seems like I've tried every
configuration bia the Message app and Notification Center app settings but,
would someone please tell me the following?

What I want is to get the alert sounds for text messages and emails but, I
don't want them showing in the Notification Center. To me it makes no sense
going to both the Message and Mail apps, then into the Notification Center
to delete the notifications. I only need to hear the alert sounds as the
messages and emails hit their respective apps / In-boxes to know I have more
crap to read.

Is what I'm asking doable? If so, how it would be done? All help is
greatly appreciated. Thanks mooy moocho.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers!
