Re: What are the advantages of buying Apple Watch series 8 over series 7?

2022-10-07 Thread Sherrie Gosling
I just got the series 8 2 weeks ago. The temperature feature is pretty useless
unless you are a female in the reproductive years. As I am well past this stage
this is useless to me. It only finds your average temperature while sleeping
and then tells you if your current night you went up or down a little bit.

I will say the watch is a godsend to me now, since I am having some heart
issues with the heart rate changing quickly, so the watch is alerting me to
these problems. I also use the ECG feature.

Subject: What are the advantages of buying Apple Watch series 8 over
 series 7?

 Hello folks,
I have never owned an Apple Watch, but have been flirting with the idea
for quite sometime. I noticed that the prices of Apple Watches series 7
have gone down significantly after the release of series 8. That is the
reason of why I like to know the advantages of buying series 8 over series
7, and whether paying 150 dollars more for getting Apple Watch 8 is worth
 it.
I hope that those of you who own apple watches can help me decide.
 Regards

Re: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

2022-10-07 Thread Mary Otten
I have the original SE, which has the same processor as the five I think. Or
maybe it’s the six. I can’t remember. Anyway, I have the cellular model which I
find very convenient, because I don’t always have my phone. To me it was worth
it. I didn’t care that much about blood oxygen, which the original SE does not
have. And while I wanted the heart afib thing, it wasn’t worth it for me to
spend the extra. I am waiting for more health sensors before I spring for a
really expensive one. If they ever get blood sugar tracking, I’m there.

Re: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

2022-10-07 Thread Michael Irons
Hello everyone, I basically do take my phone pretty much everywhere I go. I do
end up going outside occasionally without my phone. There is a time when I go
in row with the rowing team but I am out on the water in my phone is not
listening because I don’t want my phone to go in the water and get messed up.
My phone might be with me but it’s either locked up in someone’s car or I have
it inside the place where I go rowing. My guess is the watch probably wouldn’t
work if I wore it out on the water.

Hi,
Fall detection was introduced with Apple Watch Series 4. As with everything
technology, I would recommend to purchased the latest that you can afford. This
is especially true with Apple since devices lose OS support every four years

Hi.

If you're someone who has your iPhone on you wherever you go, or you're always
in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, you probably don't need the cell feature of
an Apple Watch. Even if you have the cell feature on your watch, as long as
your iPhone is in range, the watch defaults to using your phone to do
everything. Just know that you might be amazed where you'll be at home, such as
going outside without your phone, and the watch won't be in range of the phone.
The Watch will still give the time, but anything internet related won't work,
and that's a lot of things.

RE: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

2022-10-07 Thread Richard Turner
Like all Apple devices, they are all equally accessible with VoiceOver.

So, just focus on the features you want and which watch has those.

Re: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

the fall detection in the blood oxygen sensors in it. I am just wondering for
the fall detection part to work do I actually need to get the cellular watch I
will the GPS version of it work out OK.

Re: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

2022-10-07 Thread Julian
The only way I would ever consider buying a cellular version of a watch is when
Apple makes it a truly standalone device. This would mean that a phone is in no
way shape or form required to set it up and manage.

RE: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

2022-10-07 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
45 MM is 1.77 inches.
41 MM is 1.61 inches.

If you have any kind of a braille watch, you may want to compare sizes to
figure out what would work best for you.

As for which watch, I don't have an opinion. I have the series 6 from 2 years
ago and it is excellent. I did not opt for the cellular model because I pretty
much always have my phone handy.
If I replace this watch, I will probably opt for the cellular model, but that
will only be if this watch dies completely.

HTH,

Richard, USA.

Subject: Choosing betweeen Apple Watch 7 and SE 2

Hello,

I’ve finally decided that an Apple watch would be a good thing for me (with
celluar service)

So far I haven’t had any issues buying refurbished Apple products so I’ll do
that with the watch as well.

I’ve narrowed it down to a series 7 or SE2. We’re moving to Mexico and it
looks like there are a couple cell companies there who support the apple Watch
cellular. I’m trying to think of all the ins and outs I can but this list is
good at coming up with things I haven’t thought of.

Also, I have a choice between a 45 mm and 41 mm face. My fingers are an
average size woman’s hand. I think I’d prefer the smaller size, would I regret
that?

As always,
Thanks,

RE: Did IOS 16.02 gget rid of the voice mail transcript?

2022-10-07 Thread Richard Turner
Here is an article with all you may want to know about transcriptions and voice
mail. But it is missing a piece in that it doesn't say what countries have it.
I seem to recall it may only be the US and Canada, but only Apple knows for
sure.

How to Set Up & Use Voicemail Transcription on iPhone (2022)
Use your iPhone's Voicemail Transcription feature to read voicemails when you
can't or don't want to listen to them.
By Conner Carey Updated 10/06/2022
A lot of people are asking, "How do you use voicemail transcription on the
iPhone?" The feature itself is pretty easy to use, but it can be a little
glitchy. We'll also go over what to do if voicemail transcription is not
working on your iPhone. Here's how to use the voicemail-to-text feature of
Visual Voicemail on your iPhone.

What Is Voicemail-to-Text on the iPhone?

We've already gone over how to set up voicemail on your iPhone, so now it's
time to learn how to use iPhone voicemail transcription. The voicemail-to-text
feature on Apple's iPhone takes voicemail and transcribes it, so you can easily
read phone messages.

iPhone voicemail transcription allows you to read a transcription of the
voicemail sent to you. Once read, you can listen to the voicemail if you feel
like the transcription missed a piece of information. You can also let Apple
know whether or not the voicemail transcription was useful.

Voicemail-to-text on iPhone is a default feature that works on devices running
at least iOS 10. However, if you own an iPhone 6 or earlier, voicemail
transcription will not work on your device. It does, however, work on iPhone
6S, iPhone SE, and all newer models including the iPhone 13.

Many people also want to know how to turn voicemail transcription off. While
there's not a straightforward way to turn voicemail transcription off, there is
a clever workaround that we'll go over below. To learn more about the Phone app
and other iPhone apps, sign up for our Tip of the Day newsletter.

How to Turn On Voicemail Transcription on iPhone

Note: It’s important to note that your carrier must support Voicemail
Transcription in order for this feature to work, regardless of the iPhone you
have. If you’re not sure whether or not your carrier supports Voicemail
Transcription, check here.
Note, this link is for the US and Canada:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204039

Now, let's learn how to turn on voicemail transcription on your iPhone:

1. Open the Phone app.
2. Tap Voicemail at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap the voicemail you want to read.
4. You’ll see a paragraph of text above the voicemail play button. That’s the
voicemail transcription. To listen to the voicemail after reading the
transcription, tap the Play button.

The voicemail transcription may not be perfect, but it gives you an overall
idea of what the person was talking about and whether or not they’re a
telemarketer. Once you’ve read the voicemail transcription, you can choose to
listen to the voicemail or simply delete it.

How to Turn Off Voicemail Transcription

While some people enjoy using voicemail transcription, others might view the
feature as annoying. The transcriptions may fill up the voicemail screen,
making it hard to move to the next voicemail. Then, the transcription often
doesn't match what the voicemail is actually saying due to low transcribing
accuracy. With the help of Siri, you can disable the voicemail transcription
feature on your iPhone. Make sure that your iPhone is updated to iOS 12.4 or
later before attempting to turn off voicemail transcription.

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap on Siri & Search.
3. Tap on Language.
4. Change Siri language to Australian English or Indian English. If that
doesn't work, choose another language that doesn't sound like English such as
Italian or Japanese.
5. Tap Change Language.

This may seem like a strange workaround, but now when you check your voicemail,
you should see that the messages no longer include voicemail transcriptions.
Note: the web site this is from has a video ad running that is hard to get rid
of.

RE: Containers And iPhone Weather App

2022-10-07 Thread Carolyn
OK, thanks; I just go almost to the bottom and start on the days, then go on to
the rest.

So I opened the weather app, then turned the roder's focus to containers. Then
I swiped down with one finger and voice over cycled through the various parts
of the weather app page. It said today's weather then another swipe took me to
the forcast by days, then another swipe took me to the pressure and other
weather related info section. It was much faster because I didn't have to
swipe down through everything to get to this information.

RE: Keyboards for sale, great condition!

2022-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Joe,

I read your article and while I don't want to question your experience with
Kliphton I do want to point out that if you open a browser and type
www.SturItUp.com into the address bar their website opens so maybe there was a
temporary glitch with the domain back when this happened, but it is not
deactivated at this point.

Take care,
Sieghard

Don't do business with Kliph. He is a poor business man as I've documented here:
