RE: Victor Reader Stream

2023-05-29 Thread tony k5twz . com
I have really used and enjoyed two each of the first and second versions of the
Victor Reader Stream, the last of which is still working well after several
years. When I changed hearing aids I had to get an newer version that supports
Bluetooth . I am now on my fourth Victor Reader Trek in just over a year. I
don’t know about other’s experience but all of mine have been disasters.
Humanware has implied that I am the only one with problems but they have been
replacing them under warranty. In addition to forgetting settings and
occasionally garbling the audio they frequently crash, sometime multiple times
a day. I get six to seven hours on a charge, much less than they advertise.

RE: Looking for a Bluetooth, keyboard case recommendation for latest generation of iPad

2023-05-29 Thread realman02 via VIPhone
Try the Logitech k811. You can use it with multiple devices; the internal
battery lasts a long time -- you recharge it with USB and you don't need to
physically connect it to the Ipad.

hi,

take a look at the Zag Folio keyboard case. it is great, with the iPad
orientated like a computer screen, at the top, and keyboard at the bottom. the
battery last for about three months, and it charged via micro USB. to charge
the case, the keyboard must be removed, but that is a sympol and
straightforward process.

I don’t know if it will be free or not. I will ask

RE: Hands-on: 'Midnight Alarm' packs powerful features that Apple's Clock app is missing [Giveaway], 9 to 5 Mac

2023-05-29 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Dennis,

Well, after installing the app, yesterday, I discovered that it is quite
accessible on my 14, in terms of setting alarms.

However, when VoiceOver is enabled, the actual alarm sounds do not play unless
the app is actually open.

Also, unlike with the native iOS clock app, when the wired Earpods are
connected, alarms sounds are directed to the headset and not played through the
device's built-in speaker. With the native clock app, if a wired headset is
connected, alarm sounds are played through both the speaker and the headset.

Given that this app promotes itself as being the best-of-the-best, it should
allow the user to select where alarms sounds should be directed.

For this reason, I sent a bug report to the developer and left a 1 star rating
with an accompanying review, in the app store. As of yesterday, there were
only 12 reviews so now is the time to truly have your voice heard by rating and
constructively reviewing the app on the app store.

9to5Mac - Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 10:32 AM
Hands-on: 'Midnight Alarm' packs powerful features that Apple's Clock app is
missing [Giveaway]

Andrew Zheng, an incoming Apple intern, found Apple's alarm function to be
missing critical features and found that most alternatives on the App Store
were poorly designed, ad-ridden, and missing key features. Because of this, he
created Midnight Alarm, a feature-packed and wonderfully designed alarm app.

Free features
While you need to pay the $1.49 a month or $24.99 one-time purchase to get all
of the amazing features of Midnight, the free version still provides many
features over Apple's offering, and unlike the countless alarm apps on the App
Store, no ads.
. Live Activities support
. Widgets
. Schedule alarms for later on specific dates or every day during a
range
. Change the alarm volume independently of your ringtone (e.g., normal
volume ringtone and louder alarm)
. Time preview - see the time so you don't accidentally set alarms for
the middle of the night
. Custom dynamic backgrounds that adjust based on the time
. Change the snooze / dismiss button placement by dragging
. Custom snooze duration and alarm ring duration
. Import alarm sounds from Files
. Delete multiple alarms at once
. Swap snooze and stop buttons

Midnight Alarm has received special permission from Apple to use critical
alerts, so even when your phone is on silent, you can still hear your alarms as
normal. This is quite different from the many other alarm apps on the market,
as many actually play a silent audio file as a trick to hear alarms on mute,
which consequentially drains the battery.

Premium features
Organization
Apple's alarm function has been notoriously bad at organization, and it is very
easy to have a never-ending list of alarms from the past, but Midnight solves
this in two ways. The free version gives you the option to delete multiple
alarms at once, a surprising omission from Apple's offering, and with premium,
it gives you the ability to put your alarms in folders and organize them per
category.

Calendar Integration
Along with being able to schedule an alarm for a specific date, with premium,
Midnight brings full integration with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and
custom .ics calendars and allows you to place your alarms on a calendar
interface. With just a toggle, it will add the alarm to your list in the app,
and sync so the event can be seen from all of your calendar apps.

Weather Previews and Solar Background
Midnight gives you the weather at the time of your alarm right on the home page
and has a beautiful UI showing a solar graph. The sunrise and sunset data from
the solar graph is accurate and calculated from an algorithm by the United
States Naval Observatory.

Download ringtones from YouTube (Coming soon) In addition to uploading your own
files as ringtones, with premium, you will soon be able to download music
directly from YouTube and set it as your alarm.

Special Offer for 9to5Mac Readers!
Andrew has been very kind and is offering 15 lifetime codes, so our readers can
enjoy the powerful premium features.

2023-05-29 Thread Richard Turner
Great! Can you share the name of the developers, or is that part of the NDA?

Do you know what kind of price they plan to set?

Soundscape was a fine app and I know Microsoft isn't making all that is needed
open source, so I would be surprised if an independent developer will be able
to make it free.

Thanks,

Richard, USA.

2023-05-29 Thread Peter Logan
You should be able to go into the app store .. and under subscriptions cancel
the trial ..

Subject: apple music?

I asked my new SE 2022 yesterday to open Radio northwest for me and instead
Ciri opened apple music and played some goofy song I did not want. then I was
informed that she had signed me up for the 7 day free trial with apple music. I
do not want apple music, so how do I get away from that supposed free trial of
it?

thanks for any assistance in advance,

Dave

RE: apple music?

2023-05-29 Thread Richard Turner
Open Settings on your iPhone.
At the top, or very near the top, double tap on your name, which is your Apple
account.
Flick right to subscriptions.
IN there you can cancel any and all subscriptionts.
Note, usually when you cancel a trial, you can still access it for the duration
of the trial period that is left.

2023-05-29 Thread Lyne
Hello group,

If things go well, Soundscape should be back in AppStore around July.

Re: Apple ID question

2023-05-29 Thread Kelly Pierce
This is correct. An Apple ID is a unique identity. Things are messy
when someone wants to mix and match app purchases and downloads with
different Apple IDs. Same goes for changing an Apple ID without
wiping the device and setting it up as a new iPhone. Just because
someone changes an e-mail address does not mean they have changed
their Apple ID.
