RE: telegram for iOS.

I would encourage all of us to email telegram support and ask them to make it
accessible. Include this link.

I use unigram in the windows system, because telegram in ios is not fully
accessible. is there any solution to access the voice-over perfectly?

ISO an accessible VOIP for business alternative to Google Voice

2023-06-02 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
Hello list,

I’ve been using Google Voice for my business line and it’s worked well
enough till now, but I’ve recently been having reliability issues with it.
Calls not coming through, dropped calls, poor call quality and in general
just not a smooth user experience. Then again, you get what you pay for
right…

Therefore, I’m in search of a VOIP replacement and as always, accessibility
is priority #1.

I’ve poked around and OpenPhone seems to be a
service that pops up as one of the better options out there. There are a
bunch of others with robust features and all that, but I don’t need video
call capability and all the analytics breakdowns etc. Just call and text
capability on iOS and PC (be it a desktop app and or the web). I’m also not
looking to pay $30 plus a month per line/user.

I currently use Nextiva for my virtual fax and
while they do offer VOIP packages, you check out their reviews and man… talk
about rough. I’ve got no complaints about the fax side of things, but the
VOIP feedback gives you pause. That and they can get expensive real quick.

So, all that said, has anyone put OpenPhone through its paces? Is the iOS
app accessible? Any accessibility deal breakers? Again, this would be for
calls and texts on PC and iOS.

If not OpenPhone, then is there another VOIP for business alternative out
there that plays nice with the iPhone?

Also, I’m an MS Office 365 for business user so simply upgrading to paid
Google Voice with their G Suite or Google Workspace or whatever they’re
calling it now isn’t something I’m going to really do.

Thanks,

RE: smart locks

2023-06-02 Thread janet gross
Hi Joseph,
Thank you so much, as all this is very kind of you, and I greatly appreciate
it. Trust me my current door knob will not look funny, but if I can’t use the
smart lock with my door knob, then I just won’t get the smart lock.
Although, I have to admit I’ve never heard of anyone having any problems with
the type of door knobs I am talking about. So, I’m not sure if I am explaining
this right or not, but I will soon find out, as I am very interested in the
smart lock.

Hi Janet, here is the smart lock. I thought you already had those in your cart.
And I thought you were wondering about the handles. I shared the handles with
you, because of the fact that we were discussing the door knobs. So I share
those with you because we were discussing, what type of door knobs you would
need to go with your lock. Here is the lock in question that we are currently
using right now to go with the door knobs that we've also installed. However,
in your case, since you're not going to switch out your door knobs, you might
want to make sure that your levers match your lock that way that it doesn't

Carolyn,
If you don't have a home button meaning you use face id. Simultaneously press
and then release the side button and volume up button, and that will take a
screen shot. Tap the screenshot in the lower left corner, look for the done
button, tap Done.

Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button.

I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen
curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off

Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the

Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button.

I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen
curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off
with a 3 finger triple-tap.

Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the
camera click. Wait just a few seconds, and the screen shot will be in the
photo library.

Hi all,

I need to take a screenshot to send to an app vendor for diagnostic purposes.
But I can’t remember how to do it. Could someone remind me? I’m running the
latest iOS on an SE second generation iPhone.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sieghard,
Thank you again, but I completely understand the door lever the door knob. I
have a door knob, and I don't have any intentions of replacing it because I am
fine with it. All I need it for is to get through the door and that's all.
Hey Sieghard, I have to admit I can't help but laugh every time we talk about
these door knobs or levers. It doesn't matter to me how they look, just the
purpose they serve. Although, there isn't anything wrong with the way they
look, as I said before every where I go, they have the exact same door
knobs, and they look fine to me, and maybe everyone else since they all have
them too.

Janet, I try to explain one more time, when I speak about a door knob or lever
I mean an item which does the same thing, it opens the door.
Maybe if you go to Home Depot you can ask them to show you lever-style handles,
as I said, coming from Europe (in my case Germany) that is all we ever had.
When I came to Canada for the first time in 1980 at the age of 13 having all
this twist type knobs on doors was a total novalty for me. Luckily at least
here in Canada the more modern lever-style handles are catching on more and
more and I don't have a single knob-type handle on any door both at my house
and at the more heavy-duty, solid commercial doors at my store. All have
levers, you push down and open the door instead of grabbing the knob and
twisting it. It is also much easier to open a door with a lever-style handle if
your hands are full since you can simply push it down with your elbow, forearm,
hip or if you so choose even with your head, leg or foot (then of course you
have to balance on one leg as you lift the other to push the handle. If you
cary something very large you could even turn around and hook it with your belt
- the possibilities are ndless. And I also think they look way nicer.

Janet, you have to understand the difference between the knob or lever you turn
or push down on to open an unlocked door and the deadbolt.
If you have a good and secure deadbolt there is no reason to also have a
knob/lever which can be locked. As I said before, these are typically not very
strong and are designed for inside the house for bathrooms, bedrooms or an
office which you may want to lock, but you are not typically worried about
something which is extremely secure, just something to keep somebody out like
when you go to the washroom and you simply don't want somebody else to walk in
on you.
As I said, I prefer the European style levers but of course a round or ovel
knob you twist works just fine if that is your preference and of course you
could leave your existing lockable knob, but if you don't carry the key then
just make sur eyou don't accidently lock it when you leave.
Below is the name and a summary of the Schlage Encode Plus which is my next
choice for a smart lock since it supports the "Apple Keys" feature which allows
you to unlock it by tapping your phone or watch against the lock. This means
you can unlock this even if the power were out since it does not rrequire Wi-Fi
for unlocking as long as you stand right

Now keep in mind, these door knobs do not have key holes. So that way nobody

A good deadbolt is really all you need, these old twist handles where you have
a button you can push in or where you push in and twist the handle to lock it
are really not rated for exterior doors; they are good for privachy doors like
a bathroom or bedroom, but they would not stand up to any sort of force. I
prefer a good smartlock deadbolt and a nice lever-style handle, but then I am
Germany and we never had round door handles which you had to twist, even when I
was a little child in the late 60's interior as well as exterior doors had
lever-style push down handles.

This is easy. Find the photo of the screenshot, open, the photo, click share,
then you want to flick all the way down to the bottom, where it says coffee.
Double tap on that, then go back into the email thread that you guys have going
hit reply, turn your rotor to edit, and flick down to paste.

Re: How to take a screenshot on an SE second generation iPhone?

2023-06-02 Thread Kimberly
Thanks for these great instructions. I have had an iPhone since 2012 and have
literally never seen these options. But now that I know they are there I'm sure
i'll work it out.

Thanks again.

RE: How to take a screenshot on an SE second generation iPhone?

2023-06-02 Thread Rob Armstrong
If you do not have the email thread on your iPhone, create an email to yourself
so you can send the attachment to your computer.

If you have the email thread on your iPhone, start a reply email.

Enter some text in the body of the email. When you finish entering text or
reach the spot where you want to insert the attachment, follow the steps below.

Carefully explore the screen above the keyboard. You will find the following
options: Note that you can flick right to hear each of these options.

Text format button
Insert photo button
Take photo or video button
Scan document button
Scan text button
Insert attachment button
Insert drawing button

You can double-tap on the Insert photo button and choose the photo from the
photos gallery or double-tap Insert attachment button and choose the file you
saved in the Files app.

Below is a link to the Apple Support page describing this process.

RE: How to take a screenshot on an SE second generation iPhone?

2023-06-02 Thread Rob Armstrong
There is probably several ways to send the photo. Here is one way.

After you take the screen shot, go to the Photos app and locate the photo you
just took. It will have the current date and very recent time stamp.

Double-tap on the photo to open it.

Near the bottom of the screen, double-tap the Share button.

There will be several options on the share screen. Explore the screen however
works best for you. Explore by touch or just flick right many times to hear
the options.

Among all the options, one option is "save to files". If you have DropBox,
OneDrive, or other cloud storage apps, they will be among the options.

Double-tap Save to Files.

Explore the screen. The last folder you saved something to will probably be
selected. You can save the image there or create a new folder. Be sure to
note what folder the image will be saved to.

When you are ready, double-tap the Save button in the upper right corner of the
screen.

Now you can start a reply email and send the image as an attachment to the
email.

Thanks Rob and Richard. I have successfully taken the screen shot but I can't
figure out how to attach it to my reply to the developer. I could start a
completely new email but I wanted to respond in the email thread we already
have going. Can you help?

Thanks

2023-06-02 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Definitely tons more efficient! Thanks for sharing! I wish, though there were a
way to delete multiple contacts at once, to make these deletions even more
efficient. But the tip given below of double-tapping and holding and deletting
from the Context menu, is a blast!

Re: Can't Unlock SE 2020

2023-06-02 Thread Robert Doc Wright

have you tried asking siri to reboot this device?

Subject: Can't Unlock SE 2020

Hi, All:

I hope someone can help me unlock my iPhone 2020. The phone was working
fine before the trouble started. I got into this mess by wondering what
Siri would say if I said should I bring my umbrella. Music started
playing. I do virtually nothing with music and thought a two finger
double tap would turn it off. I may not have been doing the gesture
correctly, but it didn't stop the music. More tries with no success.
Tried saying different versions of stop with no luck. At one point tried
turning off the phone with no joy. Moved the mute button with no luck.
Saying cancel music stopped the music, but now, it says VoiceOver is
turned on; that it is unmuted but that nothing is playing. When I move my
finger around the screen I hear clicking noises. If I ask Siri to go to
messages, for example, it says you must unlock the phone first. The home
button won't budge. I have it charging. This is my back up phone and I
readily admit that I am still not good with it. The only other thing I
can think of is the mute button, but I'm afraid I'll lose what it is
responding to. Sighted assistance is not available. It's IOS 16.4.1.

Any help is much appreciated.

Margaret

To take a screenshot press the home button and the power button at the same

Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button.

I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen
curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off
with a 3 finger triple-tap.

Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the
camera click. Wait just a few seconds, and the screen shot will be in the

Caroline, as you will see you later messages I already address this. You can
unlock the deadbolt which unlocks your house, with the key that comes with the

I don't think I would buy a lock which can't be opened with a physical

Janet, I need to dive into my Amazon and send you a link to door knobs
that were ordered with mine that her securely locked when the deadbolt is
locked. Now keep in mind, these door knobs do not have key holes. So that way
nobody can pick the lock to try to get in. Which I think is a good thing. So
the only Lock that you would have to worry about is the deadbolt lock. Both of
these items are made by the company that we're discussing.

A good deadbolt is really all you need, these old twist handles where
you have a button you can push in or where you push in and twist the handle to
lock it are really not rated for exterior doors; they are good for privachy
doors like a bathroom or bedroom, but they would not stand up to any sort of
force. I prefer a good smartlock deadbolt and a nice lever-style handle, but
then I am Germany and we never had round door handles which you had to twist,
even when I was a little child in the late 60's interior as well as exterior
doors had lever-style push down handles.

I like the idea about removing the deadbolts, and replacing them with

RE: How to take a screenshot on an SE second generation iPhone?

2023-06-02 Thread Rob Armstrong
Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button.

I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen
curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off
with a 3 finger triple-tap.

Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the
camera click. Wait just a few seconds, and the screen shot will be in the
photo library.

RE: smart locks

2023-06-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
This means
you can unlock this even if the power were out since it does not rrequire Wi-Fi
for unlocking as long as you stand right in front of it with your iPhone or
Apple Watch. In this case it communicates directly with your device, of course
your iPhone would have to be unlocked so if you are somebody who prefers not to
have your iPhone protected with a PIN and Face Id (or touch Id if you have anb
SE) then you would have to do so otherwise you can't set up this feature just
like you can't set up a credit card for Apple Pay unless your phone is
protected by a passcode/Face Id or Touch Id.

It would be as easy or difficult to pick as any deadbolt with a key would be to
pick.
No, I have not heard about a lock with a built-in camera, this is what a Ring
or Nest (or other brand) door bell camera would be for which still would catch
anybody approaching the door unless they could totally sneak up pressed against
the side of the house and cover it, but then again you can't avoid any scenario
and if somebody is really set on getting into your house and they know what
they are doing they'll get in regardless. All it takes is a good glass cutter
and a suction cup and somebody could remove enough of a window to reach in and
unlock it or unlock the door if the door has a glass pane. If that is a concern
you would need a good monitored security system with door and window contact
sensors, glass break sensors as well as motion sensors throughout the house. Of
course if you are at home and engage the system at night in "stay" or "home"
mode the motion snesors are typically disabled since you wouldn't want them to
set off the alarm if you decide to get up and go to the washroom at night or if
you toss and turn a bit. And a real professional would probably know how to
defeat your security system which is why I say you can never be 100% sure you
prevent somebody from getting into your house.

No, a smart door lock does not open such a secondary lock. Basically think of a
smartlock as a replacement of your existing deadbolt, bujt instead of just a
keyhole on the outside and the lever on the inside you throw or turn to
lock/unlock, the smart door lock also has a small box mounted on the inside
which still contains a manual thumb lever/turn to lock/unlock, but it also
houses the motor which turns it electronically when you use the keypad or phone
to unlock it and of course a battery compartment. The outside still has a
standard kehyhole where you can unlock with a key, but there is also a keypad,
either with buttons or a touch screen. There still are also door locks which
have a fingerprint sensor, but they were more popular 10 or 15 years ago. I had
I think at least 2 and they could be quite fiddly reading your print especially
in the winter when it is cold here and I may have dry and cold hands etc.

Janet,

I believe there are locks which can use an existing setup, but typically the
smartlock is the deadbolt and you are much better off with a good Schlage,
August, Wiser, Yale or other smartlock than to try and put something over an
existing deadbolt which will turn it. Most of such locks are relatively easily
installed although most people probably would need some sort of sighted help to
do it. Basically you simply remove the existing deadbolt which is normally done
by removing 2 screws on the inside and you may have to remove the strike plate
on the edge of the door and replace it with what comes with the smartlock, but
so far all such locks I have had come with a couple of different pieces of
hardware so they can be used virtually to replace any standard deadbolt
installation. On the outside you then have the keypad which can be either
something with buttons or a touchscreen and on the inside you have a box which
contains the motor to turn the deadbolt and the batteries, typically either 4
AA or 1 square 9 Volt, AA seems to be the more common type now.
As Matter/thread support becomes a thing in home automation I would at this
point never buy a new smartlock which didn't support this as it makes
connection to other smart home devices and

RE: smart locks

2023-06-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It depends, as long as you can unlock via the locks keypad power doesn't come
into play since the lock itself is battery powered. If your lock has a
touchscreen you would have to mark a few spots or get somebody to make you an
overlay which you could keep in your pocket or purse (if you carry one) or even
have one made from plastic and installed permanently so you can reliably enter
the code. Our Schlage lock requires a 6-digit code. The touchpad is
square/rectangle in shape but with a rounded top and the "Schlage" button which
you also press to lock the door is at the top in the middle which is basically
at the top of the arch so that one is easy to touch.

Our house also has a door from the kitchen out to our deck and as we don't
usually go into that door it still has a traditional electronic lock (not
smart/connected) and it has buttons. It is also a Schlage and the buttons are
in two rows, 1 through 5 in the first row and 6 through 0 in the second row. On
top of the 3 (right in the middle) is the lock buton. This lock actually
doesn't even use a motor, it has a large knob and if you want to lock the
deadbolt you just press the lock button, you hear a little snick sound which
means the deadbolt is engaged and you can then turn it. Similarly to unlock you
type in a 4-digit code, as soon as you press the last button you hear the same
snick sound and you can then turn the knob to disengage the deadbolt. If you
wait about what I think might be 3 or 5 seconds the mechanism disengages again
and if you then turn the knob it simply spins freely and nothing happens. This
lock uses a square 9 Volt battery which lasts for I think 2 or 3 years since
there is no motor which requires a fair bit of power, all the battery does is
to engage the mechanism and you turn the deadbolt by hand. If you were looking
for an easy to use and reliable electronic lock with physical buttons this one
is at the top of my list as it is reliable and relatively inexpensive compared
to a high-end smart lock. You can't unlock this remotely or do fancy
programming like giving somebody access with a code on just a certain day
between 8 and 9 AM, but you can also program up to 19 codes and, for example,
give one to a house cleaner or dog walker and ifthat person changes you can
delete it. Here is a link to the matte black "Plymouth" style on Amazon Canada:

Janet, I need to dive into my Amazon and send you a link to door knobs that
were ordered with mine that her securely locked when the deadbolt is locked.
Now keep in mind, these door knobs do not have key holes. So that way nobody
can pick the lock to try to get in. Which I think is a good thing. So the only
Lock that you would have to worry about is the deadbolt lock. Both of these

Can't Unlock SE 2020

2023-06-02 Thread Margaret Thomas

At one point
tried turning off the phone with no joy. Moved the mute button with no
luck. Saying cancel music stopped the music, but now, it says VoiceOver
is turned on; that it is unmuted but that nothing is playing. When I
move my finger around the screen I hear clicking noises. If I ask Siri
to go to messages, for example, it says you must unlock the phone first.
The home button won't budge. I have it charging. This is my back up
phone and I readily admit that I am still not good with it. The only
other thing I can think of is the mute button, but I'm afraid I'll lose
what it is responding to. Sighted assistance is not available. It's
IOS 16.4.1.

Any help is much appreciated.

Margaret

When you purchase Sd cards larger then 32 gigs, they are already formatted as
x-fat, so the third gen stream can read them automatically.

Both Norwegian and English.
Implement a better solution and documentation for third party

voices available to VoiceOver.
Please also make the NFC chip on Apple devices available to
third-party developers.
Come on, Apple!

Please also fix bugs much faster :-)

Hello, I replied to this on MacVisionaries, but what I’m talking about is
for iOs. :)

Two little things I’ve thought would be useful:

A VoiceOver gesture, (say a 2-finger swipe right) in the messages window
to send the composed message. Instead of locating the send button.

A VoiceOver gesture to spell the current word in focus. Often I’m on the
web and want something spelled out. It takes many little steps to turn the
rotor to word, flick to the one I want, then turn the rotor to character,
flick letter by letter. A simple shortcut would be super useful.

Those are two little things off the top of my head. :)

Take care,
Traci

You know? The only software feature that I really want added to the OS is

Are there any features, accessibility-related or not, that you would like

I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to reading your replies.

2023-06-02 Thread Terje Strømberg
There is an option to configure home screen command if you find it easier.
If you don't like it you can delete the new command and also reset voice
commands to standard and it works like before.
Home commands option: go to ios settings, accessibility, voice over,
commands, all commands, system. Here you hit the home button and you are
inside home commands for touch screen and keyboard.
If you don't find something you like, you can delete it by focus on it and
svipe up and hit delete.
There are an reset all commands button at the tottom of the commands
screen. The first screen after voice over.
Take care
