RE: Voice dream reader, TTS update

2023-08-04 Thread Dennis Long
With what they are doing I doubt I will subscribe.Winston did a wonderful
job of explaining clearly what changed. This company doesn’t and I know of
others who have contacted them and they don’t care. If they can’t be bothered
to do that when I report something serious how do I know they will listen? BTW
I also contacted them myself and got no response.

Well, I suspect they will have to start asking everyone to subscribe at some
point. Again, Winston was going to do that at some point because in order to
have more than one individual who can support the app, you need to pay a staff,
etc. Beside, if only one person knows the code and he/she gets run over by a
truck, the app won't keep up with changes in iOS ... But, I agree about
explaining more what is in the updates. I've told them that several times, but
if I'm the only one telling them that, I doubt they will. This last update only
said the Voice Management screen was updated.

Below is the phrase used to describe the latest update.

Version 4.20.3, 1d ago, We updated the voice management screen in Voice

Dream Reader. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

What they did was to now include all the voices. So, they are all included

now so you do not have to buy any voices. So, if you wanted to try some out

that you dicd not want to pay for, they are now free!

I also did write to supp...@voicedream.com and told them about needing more
info about new updates and about my search feature in the list of voices. I
also had the suggestion that if you were looking through voices and wanted to
hear a sample of a particular voice, then when you hit the back button, that it
maintains your current place in the list of voices because once hitting the
back button takes you back to the top of the voices list and the voice you
wanted to hear might be in the middle and you don't want to have to go back to
the voice you were just at if you want to check out newer voices that you
hadn't heard yet. I hope my explanation isn't to confusing. Also, if I did
eventually have to pay a subscription for voice dream reader, I'd do it. I use
voice dream reader all the time and have loads of audio dramas and audio books
in it as well as a lot of bookshare books.

Re: Voice dream reader, TTS update

2023-08-04 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I also did write to supp...@voicedream.com and told them about needing
more info about new updates and about my search feature in the list of
voices. I also had the suggestion that if you were looking through
voices and wanted to hear a sample of a particular voice, then when
you hit the back button, that it maintains your current place in the
list of voices because once hitting the back button takes you back to
the top of the voices list and the voice you wanted to hear might be
in the middle and you don't want to have to go back to the voice you
were just at if you want to check out newer voices that you hadn't
heard yet. I hope my explanation isn't to confusing. Also, if I did
eventually have to pay a subscription for voice dream reader, I'd do
it. I use voice dream reader all the time and have loads of audio
dramas and audio books in it as well as a lot of bookshare books.

I Continue to Appreciate the Accessibility of Apple Home Kit

2023-08-04 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

During the winter, I had a Home Kit compatible thermostat installed in my
house.

I continue to truly appreciate the temperature control I now enjoy via iOS
and iPad OS.

Until I installed this thermostat, I either had to turn the A/C either on or
off. The old legacy thermostats was simply not accessible to me as a blind
person.

However, I recently began having Siri keep the house between 2 temperature
set points such as 78 to 82 degrees. It is wonderful. Now I know this is
not a big deal for sighted people but, until now, I have not enjoyed this
capability, completely independent of a sighted person.

When I am away from the house for any significant period of time, with the
A/C off, I tell Siri to turn the A/C on before I get home and the house is
already nice and cool.

Now I know this can be done with both Alexa and the Google assistant so I am
not promoting Siri over anything; I just continue to be amazed at the level
of accessibility that I never would have dreamed of 30 years ago.

Mark

By denying my experience, you are being contrary. I can only repeat, I have

Actually, Richard, you don't lose the shortcut. For voiceover. You only lose

It just said Messages, Phone. I don't know if it would have said more, had her

Re: Voice dream reader, TTS update

2023-08-04 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
The voice management screen is okay. However, I really would like to
see a search box where you can type in the voice of choice that you
want to go to. I've got loads of voices and it is a real pain to have
to swipe until you find the voice you want. Richard, is the address
to write to them, supp...@voicedream.com?
