RE: Disappearing Emails

I find better results with typing emails or texts - so far, no fail; not so
with Siri, and I haven't tried the Dictate option.

Hi Tessa,

Try looking in your drafts folder. Once in a while, this has happened to me and
I was ultimately able to find it in the drafts folder. I'm guessing that's
something got broken in the process of sending. Good luck.

Meanwhile, I do not have screen recognition turned on. I’m not sure it will
help as it seems I have to have voice over off before the intercom app will
open once I’ve answered the phone. I’d like to try it though. Where can I
find it to turn it on? I looked through accessibility & didn’t find it. I did
a search for screen recognition under settings & it sent me to quick settings
voice over. I didn’t find it there either. I am using an IPhone 8 with

Have you tried to turn on screen recognition to see if that helps with the app?

You should also tell your apartment management they should put pressure on the
developer to make the app more accessible, you can also contact them yourself,
but it wouldn't hurt if they did as well. Hopefully the developer is receptive
and willing to do this.

As for suggesting another app that really is not possible if you don't know the
system and what works with it. I would request a meeting with whoever is in
charge of this type of stuff from your management company to discuss and
explore options.

Hello,

My apartment management recently switched to a new app for use with our
intercom system. With the old app, a person would punch in your apartment
number, your phone would ring, you would answer & see who it was then press 9
to trigger the door to unlock. Apparently this system was quite old & I am
told they could not enter any new numbers into the system. The new app, called
AIPHONE IXG, is not accessible. It only gets a 2 star rating so am not sure
why they chose it. In order to use it, I have to turn voice over off. Luckily
I can see enough to hit the answer phone button. Then I have to tap on 2 more
things then slide a door icon over to trigger the door to unlock. I cannot see
well enough to tap on the 2 places needed to get to the door icon. Does anyone
know of an accessible intercom app I can suggest to management?

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
When replying ot an email on my phone, using the native email app and my phone
is up to date, sometimes when I dictate the email and then hit send, it seems
to send but then it vanishes, the person it's sent to never receives it and
it's not in my sent mail, drafts, junk or outbox, it's just gone as if I'd

Any thoughts?

RE: How do you take a photo with the iPhone?

2023-08-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

With something like a small sSD it is easy, just open the camera app, put the
SSD on the table and put the phone on top of it with the camera lense which you
can easily find by touching the back of the phone. Then raise the phone
straight up maybe 6 or 8 inches which for a small item like an SSD is all that
is required and take the picture. You can either find the "Take Picture button
and double tap it or you can press either the volume up or volume down button,
either one will take the picture.
Once you have done this, you can access the picture either by tapping on the
"Photo and Video Viewer" button which is one swipe to the right o fthe Take
Picture button or you can get out of the camera app and open the photos app.
You can then find the picture, tap on it and then find the share button so you
can email it to the company or email it to yourself first and then send it on.

Alternatively, if you have the Aira app on your iPhone you can call them, make
sure you have your SSD on the table and tell them what you want to do. They can
then tell you how to hold your phone and take the picture for you and email it
to you. All of that is quite doable in a 5 minute free call.

To make sure you have contrast take a sheet of printer paper and lay the ssd on
it place the back camera on top of the ssd and place your index finger next to
the drive, with the other hand pick up the phone until you reach the height of
your elbow of the arm of the pointing finger. take the picture at that level.

Hi.

I’m attempting to exchange a defective SSD. Sabrent wants pictures of it. I
have no idea how to do that. I’d like to know what to do to make them happy.

Thanks in advance.

totally forgotten this was possible now. I just had a look at my deleted
messages and it's a nice and clean interface, Voicover reads the name of the
person, how many messages are in the conversation and how many days are left
before the message/conversation is deleted for good. I think you can access

RE: Need Accessible App for Apartment Intercom System

2023-08-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Have you tried to turn on screen recognition to see if that helps with the app?
You should also tell your apartment management they should put pressure on the
developer to make the app more accessible, you can also contact them yourself,
but it wouldn't hurt if they did as well. Hopefully the developer is receptive
and willing to do this.
As for suggesting another app that really is not possible if you don't know the
system and what works with it. I would request a meeting with whoever is in
charge of this type of stuff from your management company to discuss and
explore options.

Subject: Need Accessible App for Apartment Intercom System

Hi Alison may,

Yes, open your Messages App and swipe to the, Edit button, and single
finger double tap, to open, now swipe to, Show recently deleted, and open
this. I can't give any more steps because I don't have any deleted messages
to recover, but just swipe around and I believe you'll be able to figure it
out.

Need Accessible App for Apartment Intercom System

2023-08-22 Thread sherrywells1157
Hello,

My apartment management recently switched to a new app for use with our
intercom system. With the old app, a person would punch in your apartment
number, your phone would ring, you would answer & see who it was then press
9 to trigger the door to unlock. Apparently this system was quite old & I
am told they could not enter any new numbers into the system. The new app,
called AIPHONE IXG, is not accessible. It only gets a 2 star rating so am
not sure why they chose it. In order to use it, I have to turn voice over
off. Luckily I can see enough to hit the answer phone button. Then I have
to tap on 2 more things then slide a door icon over to trigger the door to
unlock. I cannot see well enough to tap on the 2 places needed to get to
the door icon. Does anyone know of an accessible intercom app I can suggest
to management?

Thanks,

Sherry Wells

Higher quality of eloquence in iOS 17

2023-08-22 Thread Daniel McGee
Hi all

Not running the beta but is it true that there is a higher quality version of
eloquence in iOS 17? If so, then think this could really benifit me, as I have
a hearing impairement.
Found the current version to be a bit of a letdown to be honest.

Re: Problems with brailling certain letters with BSI

2023-08-22 Thread Arnold Schmidt
I also use bsi to type if it is more than a word or two. I find, for the most
part, that it is accurate, but the longer a message gets, the more errors it
tends to make. I use it in screen away mode, and find that I have to be careful
to make sure my phone is absolutely straight, even a degree or two offf will
start it making more errors than usual. Sometimes, when it starts making
errors, unlocking, then relocking orientation will fix it. In case you don't
know how to do that within bsi, it is a three-finger swipe down. I do not know
why the following works, maybe it cleans out the memory or something, but
sometimes when it starts making more errors than usual, I just type a bunch of
random letters together, then do the word backspace, two finger swipe left, to
erase the garbage I just typed, and it fixes it. Also, I have found that a
lighter touch helps. I have to remind myself, I am not writing on a Perkins
brailler. Finally, make sure the screen is clean.

Greetings. I sent a message last week which in part talked about
difficulties using Braille Screen Input (BSI) on my iPhone. I am blind
and use VoiceOver on an iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 16.6. My problems
with BSI are becoming more pronounced. I am having trouble making
certain letters. For instance, when trying to write an "S", often an R
or P is inserted. Or, when trying to Braille a T, a Q is written
instead. Finally, the word "and" often appears when I try to write
"the". BSI is my primary input method when writing texts, emails, or
entering text in other parts of the operating system. I am having to
go back and make more corrections, or even send the email on my
computer. I am writing this message on a computer, since I don't trust
BSI reliably enough to do it on the phone. Please consider taking a
look at this issue. I don't use Siri or Voice Control, mostly because
I have a lower-pitched voice and Siri has a hard time understanding
me. So, BSI is my main method of writing on the phone. Sending an
email from the computer works for that task, but when I encounter
these letter interpreting issues with BSI repeatedly, I often resort
to the virtual keyboard and predictive text. This alternative is
inconvenient for longer messages.

Disappearing Emails

2023-08-22 Thread Tessa
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
When replying ot an email on my phone, using the native email app and my
phone is up to date, sometimes when I dictate the email and then hit send,
it seems to send but then it vanishes, the person it's sent to never
receives it and it's not in my sent mail, drafts, junk or outbox, it's just
gone as if I'd never written it.
Any thoughts?
Tessa
