Re: Apple TV Plus

2019-11-01 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Let me try and answer this.
Any device, new or old, bought on or after 10 September 2019, will qualify for
a one year free trial of Apple Tv+. These devices include iPhone, iPad, iPod
Touch, Mac and Apple Tv.
Hope this helps.

Re: Ending a call with Siri?

2019-06-13 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
In an Applevis podcast where they interviewed a couple of the accessibility
team at Apple, they did state that Voice Control will probably work with
headphones when VoiceOver is on, but that was all. They are initially hoping to
get it working for the community it was intended for, then improve from there,
like they did with Assisted Touch all them years ago.

Re: Ending a call with Siri?

2019-06-12 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
I can see why no one has mentioned this yet, but suffice to say in iOS 13 there
may be a feature that can help, depending how much VoiceOver will or will not
work from the outset. It is called Voice Control and it is going to work a lot
like the days of Dragon Naturalyspeaking on Windows if anybody can remember
that? In other words, you will be able to tell your iOS device exactly what to
do just by using your voice. This includes dictating and editing text,
navigating and using apps, and so on. So, in theory, your client could say, as
of iOS 13, `tap end call`, and the call should end, just like that. Also, no
voice commands will be sent to Apple; it will all be processed on the device.

Check out iTunes pass. This lets you add money by showing the pass to an Apple
Store representative. No, you cannot add money online using the pass, but as of
recent you can directly top up your Apple ID from any of the online stores,
such as iTunes and App Stores.

Re: Recommendations for word processor apps for IOS

2018-11-19 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Probably not possible at this stage. Non complex documents should be fine, but
anything else a computer is still geeded. Personally I use Pages on both iOS
and macOS, however I do not deal with complex documents, documents with lots of
tables etc etc. Plus you have the issue of editing files that are not in their
native formats, however I find Pages does a pretty good job with Word files,
both editing and importing/exporting. But again I do not deal with complex
documents so your mileage may vary. Those are my £0.02 worth for now.

Correct, according to the user guide. As an FYI, you press select+down, that's
select and down together.

Oh I see. This is very different to Quicknav on a bluetooth keyboard, as you
essentially you just use the arrow keys to navigate with VoiceOver. So with a
Braille display this is similar, but in addition you can also lock the
VoiceOver modifier keys as well.

Then it should work. You have to start sliding from the very top or very bottom
edge of the screen. You should then hear a sound to let you know you are in the
right area to slide up or down.

Re: What Is The Measure App On iOS 12? Here's What You Can Use It For

2018-09-19 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Hello everyone.

During the beta cycle, I discovered Measure was not on all my devices either,
like my iPad Mini 2 and 6th generation iPod Touch. I therefore conclude that
since Measure is an app using Augmented Reality, it is only available on
devices starting with iPhone 6s and 5th generation iPad.

First, you slide, not swipe. Now that is out the way, if you slide up from the
bottom edge of the screen until you hear the second sound, slightly higher in
pitch than the first one, this should bring up your home screen. Slide up
further, again from the bottom of the screen, until you hear an even higher

Re: home key questions & IOS12

Hello everyone.

Please, do not panic. Apple has taken gestures from iPhone 10 and later to all
iPad models in iOS 12, however the home button can still be used to perform the
usual tasks. You can also still use the familiar gestures to get to both
Control Centre and Notification Centre.

Re: [EXTERNAL] 1Password or just Keychain?

2018-09-06 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Hi,
iCloud Keychain can automatically fill in the credentials for you. 1Password
cannot; instead you have to open the share sheet and choose 1Password from the
list. This is an iOS limitation not a 1Password one. But since iCloud Keychain
is integrated into iOS, autofilling credentials is possible.

Re: 1Password or just Keychain?

2018-09-05 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Hi. I have both, because 1Password offers more than just passwords. For
example, I store secure notes, credit cards, etc etc. I know iCloud does the
latter, but 1Password even stores the CVV for the credit card(s) I wish to use.
Makes it a breeze not only for easy recall but also for easy typing on these
screens *smile*. So yes, 1Password offers more than just storing and syncing
passwords and credit cards.

Re: Seeking Advice on Upgrading from iPhone 5 to iPhone SE

2018-09-05 Thread 'christopher hallsworth' via VIPhone
Hi. Absolutely up to you on this one, but FYI Apple will be holding a special
event next week with their new iPhones. If the rumours out there are true, the
SE could be replaced with a 6.1-inch iPhone, possibly named iPhone 9 or even
iPhone 11. All will be revealed next week.

Re: saving passwords with the iphone

I use both as well, but I have a 1Password subscription. Personal preference.
They are both great. Just my own £0.02 worth.
