Cloud storage is a generic term so yes, Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud and
many other products are cloud storage.

Re: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-24 Thread jn nt
Good Morning, all and thank you for comments and all your thoughts.

Size of Voice Braille Reader app is only 3MB and I think advantage is
simplicity.
Voice available is female/male and doesn't have to use 2 different apps
such
as win braille and VDream Reader app to listen Braille file on iOS with the
price on tag.
Voice Braille Reader can not do everything but handy and simple.

I'd like it if I could just read the braille. The Bard mobile app has just
gotten older and older, and is a pain to use for reading now.

Re: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-23 Thread Arianna Sepulveda
I'd consider getting it; I'd like the price to be a little lower,
however, and to have the ability to use different voices, such as you
can do with the Voice Dream Reader app. I won't speak for anyone elses
preferences, but my favorite reading voice is Kate from Neospeech.
There are books in the .brf format, which are not available on
Bookshare, that, are, however, available on BARD. If I could read
these books with that voice, I'd be happy.

Thanks,
Ari

2015-09-23 Thread jn nt
Hello folks,
Thank you for your precious discussion on Voice Braille Reader.
As Richard Turner, Nicki Keck and others indicated this might not
be reasonably enough to purchase for people who are fluent Braille readers
with Braille Display. I believe Voice Braille Reader helps to share the
same stories on Braille files between Braille expert and its beginners/no
Braille users like kids and parents on single device. I want to believe
Voice Braille Reader would be available to meet their demands and your
attentions as well.
Since BARD app on iOS seems not to have output function letting third party
app, you have to use own PC or Mac to download Braille File from NLS BARD
site or Safari on iOS to download for Voice Braille Reader as Nicki
indicated. If you store the file on cloud storage,
you can help saving storage of your device.
We welcome your discussions and hope to hear more from you.
Regards,
Jun
Developer/C-Fes Japan

RE: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-22 Thread Nicki keck
Hi john,

You could probably go to the Web site on your computer and download the .brf
files from BARD. Then, you could use Itunes to transfer them into voice
Braille on your iPhone. The developer indicated you could use itunes to
transfer files to their app, so if you did it that way, you could probably read
the BARD braille books using Voice Braille.

I would not pay for it because I don't need the ability to read braille as
audio. If I want to read a brf file, I would rather use my braille display,
plus the biggest use I would have for doing so is my hymnals I have because
they are all in .brf format and so if I were going to sing them, it would not
be condusive to doing so while listening, so I would use my braille display;
however, not everyone has one, and not everyone is as fluent a braille reader
as I am, so this app is a great innovation for those who can't read them in
braille or don't know braille well enough to do so.

I am glad to hear you can open brf files in Access note. I know this has not
always been the case. I will be investigating that very soon.

Hi all, I use Voice Dream Reader for all of my Audio book reading that
isn't Bard, and love it! I have no problem paying for Voice Braille reader if
it will play the .BRF files that I can get from BARD, but I suppose I will have
to get it to know for sure. I wish the BARD app would allow Voice Over to
read the braille files that you can download, but I have heard that they have
no intention of adding that feature!

RE: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-22 Thread Richard Turner
I don't think the price is prohibitive, it is just a matter of how important it
is to an individual.
If someone had a large collection of brf files and either no longer could read
braille, or would rather now listen to them, that is not a bad price to pay for
access to files a person already has. But, if someone just wants access to
listening to books, there are too many great options already out there.
If there are braille files available and no audio files for that same book or
even plain text files that could be read elsewhere, then someone might be more
than happy to pay $14.99 to get access to them.
That is a lot cheaper than buying printed books, or spending the time and money
to take a bus or drive a car to a library.

JMO,
Richard

As others have said, the price is a bit prohibitive. I might use an
app to audibly read Braille files to me if that app were a few
dollars. However, $15 for an app is a little high for what the app
does or is expected to do, especially when I can read Braille files in
other apps that do not cost as much.

Hi, Nicki,

Thank you for your words.
I speculate what NLS is worrying about their Braille files to spread all
over.
That is why BARD keeps their files inside and don't let no other apps to
use.
So, we want to encourage BARD users to ask BARD provider asking to add
function to output files for own improvements of efficiency.

I hope this would help you to understand why no alternative.

I won’t either. I just wish there was a good app out there besides BARD if you
download one of their files, that would allow me to open .brf files and read
them on my braille display. That’s what I would like. I don’t believe Access
note does this, does it? I don’t have the need to hear .brf files audibly but
I would love to be able to open them natively without jumping through hoops.

I just looked at the description in the app store.

It is $14.99.

I don’t plan to buy it since if I have a braille file, I’ll likely read it in
braille with a braille display.

I expect if it does what it claims, a lot of folks will find it useful though.

Greetings to VIPhone members and friends,

I hope this find you well.

Excuse us for sudden message.

We are C-FES Co. Ltd, developer of iOS apps and we have recently released iOS
app called “Voice Braille Reader” and would like to introduce to VIPhone
members.

“Voice Braille Reader” is optimized with all NABCC compliant BRF and BRL files
by iOS devices and recite into voices and words on device display.
Furthermore, we are currently working on optimizing with UEB compliant files
for future version up as well.

We developed and are providing Japanese version of iOS app called BES reader
from July, 2015 by association with Nippon Lighthouse, Welfare Center for the
Blind;

http://www.lighthouse.or.jp/index2e.html

to improve user interface especially made for people who are visually impaired
and lower-vision. Of corse, Voice Braille Reader derive its UI and
manipulation capability entirely from developments with Nippon Lighthouse.

We just have released Voice Braille Reader last week and we would like to take
this opportunity to let it know its usefulness and inovativeness to many people
of Braille community in the United States.

Here is one on review we’ve heard from US user for your reference;

Re: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-22 Thread jn nt
Dear Shawn,

Thank you for your indications.
Voice Braille Reader is dedicated with Grade 2 Braille files and
I imagine cheaper and free apps are available to text to voice for text,
pdf, and some other format but not for Grade 2 braille formats.
Mr. David Goldfield on following link mentioned it would cost much more to
use other applications if you want translate Braille files into voice and
text on PC, Mac, or other devices.

https://davidgoldfield.wordpress.com/2015/09/17/app-for-reading-grade-2-braille-files-on-ios/

We understand this is one of our advantage.

I hope it would draw more interest of your usages.

Sounds like a good app if it weren't for the steep price tag. $17 canadian is a
little too high and there are apps out there that are cheaper than that or even
free that can read books to you in any format.

Re: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-21 Thread numamoto jun
HI, John J Jacques,

Thank you for your interest.
Since we are not accessible with NLS by ourselves due to restriction on
Nationality, we are not familiar with BARD app,
but, we assume BARD app do not have function to let other app use their
downloaded files.
So, you have to download same file again for Voice Braille Reader by Safari on
iOS or iTunes on your Mac or PC.
I hope this would help you understand better of Voice Braille Reader.

Regards,

Jun @C-FES Japan

Hi all, will this app read .BRF files downloaded with the BARD app?

Have a good one:

RE: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

2015-09-21 Thread Richard Turner
I just looked at the description in the app store.

It is $14.99.

I don’t plan to buy it since if I have a braille file, I’ll likely read it in
braille with a braille display.

I expect if it does what it claims, a lot of folks will find it useful though.

Richard

Subject: "Voice Braille Reader", New Leverage to Use Braille Files on iOS

Greetings to VIPhone members and friends,

I hope this find you well.

Excuse us for sudden message.

We are C-FES Co. Ltd, developer of iOS apps and we have recently released iOS
app called “Voice Braille Reader” and would like to introduce to VIPhone
members.

“Voice Braille Reader” is optimized with all NABCC compliant BRF and BRL files
by iOS devices and recite into voices and words on device display.
Furthermore, we are currently working on optimizing with UEB compliant files
for future version up as well.

We developed and are providing Japanese version of iOS app called BES reader
from July, 2015 by association with Nippon Lighthouse, Welfare Center for the
Blind;

http://www.lighthouse.or.jp/index2e.html

to improve user interface especially made for people who are visually impaired
and lower-vision.

Here is one on review we’ve heard from US user for your reference;
