Could you send an address you have tried so I can check to see if I can

Subject: blind square help please. How do I enter a distant location into my
places so that I can simulate a route?

hi,
I am trying to enter a distant location into the my places portion of blind
square so I can do a simulation of a route.
I have read and reread the help section several times, and I just cannot figure
it out.
can someone please explain to me, from the opening screen of BlindSquare,
exactly what I must do in a step-by-step fashion in order to enter a distant
location and then simulate the route?
my understanding is that I need to add a location into my places. From my
places, I am pretty sure I can go to the actions button and then click on
simulator route
The problem is, when I enter the distant location address in the opening screen
top left search field, I get a message that the search location is not within
the defined 1 mile radius of my places section. I cannot seem to figure out a
way around this.

Any help will be most appreciated. Best, Keith

On the first screen of Blind Square, find the search button in the top left,
not the my places search, but the plain search button.
Enter the address, for example, I'm in Oregon, I put in a made up address, 500
Broadway, New York City, NY
And found one place over 2 thousand miles away, I flicked right to that search
result and double tapped.
Then, flick right until you get to Simulate this location and double tap.
You do not have to add it to My Places first.

I have not used this feature for some time so this may not be true, but to

In setting you have set a search criteria around you for searching so it is

blind square help please. How do I enter a distant location into my places so that I can simulate a route?

2020-02-03 Thread 'Kramlinger, Keith G. (Keith G.), M.D.' via VIPhone
hi,
I am trying to enter a distant location into the my places portion of blind
square so I can do a simulation of a route.

Best, Keith

Re: Blind Square Help

2014-06-18 Thread Kayaker
Hi,

GPS accuracy is less of a factor on this than is your orientation of the phone.
Blind Square is not designed to be in your pocket. The top of the phone needs
to be pointed in the direction you are walking for best results. Your current
location is GPS, and your point of interest is GPS, but there is no way to give
you a direction relative to the clock unless your getting a valid compass
reading. This is why keeping it in your pocket is prone to errors. Just think
about it. If you stand still, and rotate your phone in a circle, you will get
different values for your target. It will walk around the clock as you turn
you phone. So, if you rely on that feature, you must point your phone in the
direction your facing. All you pocket people are prone to all sorts of errors
in this case.

Eileen's solution to have it report ordinal compass values is possible with
just two GPS coordinates, but it's up to you to know what direction your are
facing on the compass.

Sometimes, GPS apps can extrapolate a direction based on your walking progress,
but again, this is less accurate than a direct compass reading. I won't go into
the math here. Regardless, I think Blind Square doesn't support this
calculation.

Best.

RE: Blind Square Help

2014-06-18 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello,

Just an add on to various compass solutions. While in my blindness training,
I was taught to use the sun (if present). This won't work well if on a
cloudy or rainy day. The other solution is to purchase a braille or talking
compass. I do have one, but I am well-aware of which streets in my local
area are north/south and east/west. I do carry my braille compass on me at
all times though. HTH.

Hello,

While I was out yesterday, I noticed that Blind Square gave me an update on
location using the wrong address and street. I was just beginning my walk, so I
knew which street I was on and realized immediately that Blind Square was
having a bad hair day at that moment. I have my directions set to cardinal.
This way I can confirm which direction I am going using the sun if I feel that

see how to get a more accurate reading out of the app. HTH.

Lastly, does blind square seem to notify you more accurately when a
destination is set as a favorite or if you search for a place and then start
tracking it, or does it make a difference? Hope all this makes scence and
someone can give me some tips.

Re: Blind Square Help

2014-06-17 Thread David Chittenden
On the perfect conditions day, GPS can be as accurate as 15 feet. Typically,
GPS is about as accurate as 30 to 60 feet. I have seen GPS be as inaccurate as
three miles on a nicely completely overcast day. There is nothing any app can
do when the GPS accuracy drops because of factors outside the device's control.

Me thinks people forget how inaccurate GPS can be because Apple has found ways
to make it more often fairly accurate.

By the way, 15 feet is the length of the front of a plot of property, or the
length of two stoundard-sized cars parked with a small space between them, and
at any time you can be anywhere within that circle.

 Hello,

While I was out yesterday, I noticed that Blind Square gave me an update on
location using the wrong address and street. I was just beginning my walk, so
I knew which street I was on and realized immediately that Blind Square was
having a bad hair day at that moment. I have my directions set to cardinal.
This way I can confirm which direction I am going using the sun if I feel
that Blind Square is off. I really need to contact support to voice my
concern and see how to get a more accurate reading out of the app. HTH.

 Best,
 Eileen

 Hi

Inside shopping centers the location accuracy is not the best possible and
this affets both location data and your current location info.

I've recently moved into a new home in which there is a shopping center in
close walking distance so trying to utilize blind square to help me identify
what stores are in the shopping center. Right now I have blind square set to
announce directions via degree but it seems to be giving directions
backwards. It will announce that a store is to the right when it is really
to the left. I've tried placing the phone in my pocket facing different
directions but doesn't seem to make a difference. Can someone who has used
blind square more give me some suggestions?
Lastly, does blind square seem to notify you more accurately when a
destination is set as a favorite or if you search for a place and then start
tracking it, or does it make a difference? Hope all this makes scence and
someone can give me some tips.
