I thought we were talking about emojis as in the emoji keyboard not images?

Since I never use images and am only guessing as to where the person who posted
this issue was finding the problem, I made the messaging apps visible, then
selected the one that said something like hash images, (not really sure) and
there found the issue he reported of them all being called mime image.
Just trying to help.
Hopefully he can sort it out from here.
But yes, the emoji keyboard images work as always.

Couple of questions I hope someone can shed a little light on!
Firstly, how do you go about adding a phone number from a text message to a new
contact? I for my life cannot figure it out. Secondly, has anyone else noticed
that now when creating a new text message and wanting to add an emoji that
voiceover will no longer read what it is? Mine just announces “Meme images” as
I swipe through them.

RE: Couple of IOS 12 Questions

2018-09-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Richard,

No need to double tap on the phone number twice, once you are in the
conversation 3 double taps are involved to get to the screen where the “Create
New Contact” button is:

1. Double tap on the phone number
2. On the next screen double tap on Info
3. On the next screen double tap the phone number which now is announced as a
button.

Now after step 3 if you do a 4-finger tap near the bottom of the screen you are
taken to Block Caller which is the last item, flick left twice and you are on
Create new contact.
All in all it is a 5-step process, open the message, double tap the number,
double tap Info, double tap the number and then find the create new contact
button either by swiping or using the method I described above.
Prior to iOS 12 this was one step less, after opening the message you had a
details button at the top right and double tapping on it was essentially the
same as tapping the info button now.

Hi,
You are right about the images. Time to report a bug to Apple.

Adding a contact from a text message iOS 12

Open the text message.

Then double tap on the phone number.
Then, double tap on the phone number again.
Then flick right to the info button and double tap.
You have to then double tap again on the number before you find the create
contact option where it usually shows up.

I posted it a few days ago and personally find it relatively straight forward,
the only time something is not announced as a button is the phone number at the
top right after you double tap on the conversation. I can see where somebody
might be confused and not tryto double tap on it since it is not indicated as
something you can tap on.
Compared to prior version this first step really is the only extra step, before
the Details button was there at the top right and you had to tap on it, then
tap on the phone number again once the detail screen opened and then find the
Create New Contact button.
I guess Apple could maybe include “Create New Contact” or “Add to Existing
Contact” as a rotor action? Not sure if that is possible, but for those who
find the current method too diffficult they could maybe write to Apple
Accessibility and suggest it.

To add someone who sent you a text message to your contact list:

1) Double tap on the conversation to expand it.

2) Double tap on the phone number at the top of the page.

3) Double tap on the Info button near the top of the page.

4) Double tap on the number at the top of the page.

5) Double tap on the create new contact button near the bottom of the list of
options.

Thanks to someone who posted this earlier, but it still takes me some trial and
error to finally get into the right list of options.

RE: Couple of IOS 12 Questions

2018-09-23 Thread Richard Turner
Donna,
Have you tried adding images in a text message?
Are you using the hash images from the messaging apps?

On my phone, those all say the same thing.

The emoji keyboard still speaks the image descriptions.

Hi

I can’t answer your 1st question, because I’ve never received a phone number in
a text message. I am having no trouble with voiceover not announcing the names
of emojis.

Donna

Couple of questions I hope someone can shed a little light on!
Firstly, how do you go about adding a phone number from a text message to a new
contact? I for my life cannot figure it out. Secondly, has anyone else noticed
that now when creating a new text message and wanting to add an emoji that
voiceover will no longer read what it is? Mine just announces “Meme images” as
I swipe through them.

RE: Couple of IOS 12 Questions

2018-09-23 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
You are right about the images.

HTH,
Richard

Adding a contact from a text message [was "Re: Couple of IOS 12 Questions"]

2018-09-23 Thread Christopher Chaltain

To add someone who sent you a text message to your contact list:

1) Double tap on the conversation to expand it.

2) Double tap on the phone number at the top of the page.

3) Double tap on the Info button near the top of the page.

4) Double tap on the number at the top of the page.

5) Double tap on the create new contact button near the bottom of the
list of options.

Thanks to someone who posted this earlier, but it still takes me some
trial and error to finally get into the right list of options.
