RE: Creating a phone shortcut

One thing to note. If you delete a contact you have a shortcut for you will
need to delete the shortcut unless there is a way to have this automatically
done.

This is not difficult, and actually the shortcuts app sometimes recommends
people from your contacts to call for a shortcut. But what I have done is to
create a fake contact, then createthe shortcut. All you have to do is download
the shortcut, change the contact to whoever you want from your contacts, and
then put it on your home screen.

I have put a link below to download the shortcut. And after that, I put the
instructions you need to complete the task.

Just so people will know, you only use one shortcut action to make this
shortcut, and that is the call action.

OK, here is the download link for the shortcut. The instructions will be after
the link.

 <https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c46bc63838c44a19abba81246330b496> Call

 <https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c46bc63838c44a19abba81246330b496> icloud.com

 <https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c46bc63838c44a19abba81246330b496>

After you have downloaded the shortcut. Open the shortcuts app and it should
be in your list of shortcuts. Actually it should be the first one.

To edit the shortcut, double tap on the shortcut name.

On the next screen, swipe until you get to test person. This is the name of
the fake contact I added to the shortcut.

Flick up or down and choose edit contact. This will bring up a list of your
contacts. Just double tap on the one you want to add to the shortcut.

Then, just go back to the top and double tapthe done button.

You are now back on the screen of the list of your shortcuts.

Swipe to the name of the shortcut and do a triple tap on it.

>From the pop up menu, choose details.

>From that menu, choose add to your home screen.

Just hit the done button and your done.

Greetings all. I would like to create a shortcut to appear on my home screen to
call a specific phone contact or favorite. For the record, I don't use Siri
hardly at all, except to call my wife. It occurred to me today that I could
probably add a shortcut or contact to my home screen to do this, and then I
would be able to disable Siri completely. I realize Siri is an everyday life
line for many, and I have no problem with that. I have my reasons for not using
Siri, and for the record, I informed an Apple representative once when I was
talking to them about another issue, and they said they would pass my feedback
along to the Siri team. Anyway, I am very much a novice shortcut user. I have
only used shortcuts for a small handful of things. So, with that in mind, does
anyone have simple steps for creating a shortcut for what I want to do, or, can
you point me to a resource that is laid out for novice shortcut users like me?

Thanks,
Wayne

Re: Creating a phone shortcut

2023-08-12 Thread Jonathan Cohn
This is quite easy. It will be a one item shortcut.
There should be a button to create a new shortcut.
Then search for actions there will be a call contact or something closely
equivalent.
Once you have an action in the actions list you swipe up and down to select the
specific items that can be adjusted, double tap inonce the appropriate rotor
selector and fill out the specific information.
Then when you indicate you are finished there should be a button to add to home
screen, if you have a sighted person using your phone you can select a image as
the icon on your home screen.
Sorry, I can’t be more specific right now. But ask again if you get stuck.
