Hi,
Googling the matter did indicate
that was the last resort step for reviving the connection.  In
my case it seemed to revive itself in a few hours without any
intervention still I'm grateful for all responses as one never
knows when it'll happen again.

those that have this thermostat or ones similar to it.  If
the app reports that it's offline is there a way a blind
person either independently or with the help of Aira can get
the thing back online? Everything else here is working just
fine.

used Aira in this situation. Did they guide you where to touch
on its touch screen or did they help in some other manner.

I would call Honeywell support, we have the T5 and I think all we had to do is 
pull it out of its cradle on the wall and put it back in and that reset the 
connection. But it's been a while so maybe this is no longer the case.
