Hi,

Kelly it's funny you say this because when I got my first plus device I had

to buy a new purse because it wouldn't fit in what I had at the time. They

just don't make purse pockets for the plus's even now finding a purse to

handle a folding cane and a plus size phone even the nerdy girls have issues

Remember mark that the physical shape of the phones needs to fit into

the pants pocket of most men. If it can't fit into a back pants

pocket, the phone is a deal breaker for many. The edge to edge screen

and plus size form factor enables Apple to deliver huge screens for a

smart phone without massively blowing up the size so nerdy males won't

buy it.

the disappointment will be for sighted people and the 10 R at the end

of October. Its screen will look about the same as the iPhone 4,

introduced in 2010.

Too bad they don't offer that wrist strap they used to offer for the iPod Touch
at one point or maybe it was the iPhone 5C? I mean no self-respecting snowboard
or paddle boarrd is without a leash, right? I forgot that with the IP68
waterproof rating you could use some really large mega Phablet as a paddle
board as well as long as the stylus was long enough and was a little wider on
one end.
OK, enough joking around, but I seriously wouldn't want anything larger than my
current 6S Plus and in fact I will probably go back to a smaller device
whenever I update next which isn't for at least another year.

And why would you want to hold a device the size of an old VHS tape (if
thinner) up to your face?
And I really think you do need that new Apple Watch 4, at least then if you go
to the Apple Store next time and you faint and fall because you are so
disappointed that you can't use your new iPhone as a snowboard substitute your
Apple Watch will call 9 1 1 for you *smile*.

Hello Everyone,

Let me just say that the following is just my opinion and it is not intended to
persuade or dissuade anyone of anything.

Yesterday, I went to a remote Best Buy retail store where, as I expected, there
were almost no customers.

The Apple section was completely deserted except for one very enthusiastic
Apple representative.

Although I had not fully recognized it myself, some part of me really wanted to
be wowed by the 10 S Max in terms of its 6.5 inch display size. As you may
recall, I have often stated that I am not ready for Face ID yet, I discovered
that I was somewhat open to purchasing a 10 S Max if it could wow me, enough.

Five years or so ago, I had a friend who owned one of the first modern
phablets, the Samsun Mega. I believe the screen size was 6.3 inches. Its
physical size was so large that every time I used it, I felt as though I was a
little kid playing with a grown-up's device. I just couldn't stop grinning,
every time I held it in my hand.

It was huge Yet, despite its size, I really, really liked it. It felt,
just as the term phablet implies, like a cross between a phone and a tablet
computer.

Believe it or not, I found myself finding ways to spend more time with my
friend just so I could play with that Samsung Mega. (smile)

I almost bought one for myself but, at that time, I just didn't like Android
enough to make the investment. Soon after, Samsung stopped making the Mega.

So, yesterday, as I entered the Apple section of the store, I suppose, on some
subconscious level, I was hoping to see that same huge form-factor on the 10 S
Max. It didn't happen. In fact, believe it or not, the actual body, or
form-factor of the 10 S Max is almost identical to my 8 Plus.

I was so disappointed. I was so disappointed, in fact, that the Apple sales
rep thought that I had taken ill and asked if I needed medical attention.

Now I know that Apple made it clear as to the physical dimensions of the 10 S
Max but, somehow, some way, I thought the form-factor would be larger, much
larger than my beloved 8 Plus. In fact, I suppose, I was counting on it.

The sales rep, a very nice young man, began his spiel about how much better the
display is and how much faster the 10 S Max is, and blah, blah, blah!.

All I know is that, when I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell the 10 S Max from my
beloved 8 Plus.

As for the Apple watch? Same scenario. If there is any major size difference,
I couldn't detect it to the point where I wanted to buy a new watch.

Now I realize that Apple is simply increasing the size of its displays without
increasing the physical form-factors but, for me, this is kind of a let-down.
I'm not exactly sure why this is so; perhaps, for me at least, it's the
marvelous memory of that Samsung Mega that, for better or worse, set a
form-factor size standard to which, one day, I hope to return

Remember mark that the physical shape of the phones needs to fit into

the pants pocket of most men. If it can't fit into a back pants

pocket, the phone is a deal breaker for many. The edge to edge screen

and plus size form factor enables Apple to deliver huge screens for a

Subject: Mark on iPhone 10 S Max and iWatch Series 4, Form-Factor

I'm not exactly sure why this is so; perhaps, for me at least, it's the
marvelous memory of that Samsung Mega that, for better or worse, set a
form-factor size standard to which, one day, I hope to return.

Mark

Hi,
Kelly it's funny you say this because when I got my first plus device I had
to buy a new purse because it wouldn't fit in what I had at the time. They
just don't make purse pockets for the plus's even now finding a purse to
handle a folding cane and a plus size phone even the nerdy girls have issues

Remember mark that the physical shape of the phones needs to fit into
the pants pocket of most men. If it can't fit into a back pants
pocket, the phone is a deal breaker for many. The edge to edge screen
and plus size form factor enables Apple to deliver huge screens for a
smart phone without massively blowing up the size so nerdy males won't
buy it.

the disappointment will be for sighted people and the 10 R at the end
of October. Its screen will look about the same as the iPhone 4,
introduced in 2010.

The Apple section was completely deserted except for one very enthusiastic

Although I had not fully recognized it myself, some part of me really
wanted
to be wowed by the 10 S Max in terms of its 6.5 inch display size. As you
may recall, I have often stated that I am not ready for Face ID yet, I
discovered that I was somewhat open to purchasing a 10 S Max if it could
wow
me, enough.

Five years or so ago, I had a friend who owned one of the first modern
phablets, the Samsun Mega. I believe the screen size was 6.3 inches. Its
physical size was so large that every time I used it, I felt as though I
was
a little kid playing with a grown-up's device. I just couldn't stop
grinning, every time I held it in my hand.

It was huge Yet, despite its size, I really, really liked it. It
felt,
just as the term phablet implies, like a cross between a phone and a

Believe it or not, I found myself finding ways to spend more time with my
friend just so I could play with that Samsung Mega. (smile)

I almost bought one for myself but, at that time, I just didn't like
Android
enough to make the investment. Soon after, Samsung stopped making the
Mega.

So, yesterday, as I entered the Apple section of the store, I suppose, on
some subconscious level, I was hoping to see that same huge form-factor on
the 10 S Max. It didn't happen. In fact, believe it or not, the actual
body, or form-factor of the 10 S Max is almost identical to my 8 Plus.

I was so disappointed. I was so disappointed, in fact, that the Apple
sales
rep thought that I had taken ill and asked if I needed medical attention.

Now I know that Apple made it clear as to the physical dimensions of the
10

S Max but, somehow, some way, I thought the form-factor would be larger,
much larger than my beloved 8 Plus. In fact, I suppose, I was counting on
it.

The sales rep, a very nice young man, began his spiel about how much
better

the display is and how much faster the 10 S Max is, and blah, blah, blah!.

All I know is that, when I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell the 10 S Max
from
my beloved 8 Plus.

As for the Apple watch? Same scenario. If there is any major size
difference, I couldn't detect it to the point where I wanted to buy a new
watch.

Now I realize that Apple is simply increasing the size of its displays
without increasing the physical form-factors but, for me, this is kind of
a

let-down. I'm not exactly sure why this is so; perhaps, for me at least,
it's the marvelous memory of that Samsung Mega that, for better or worse,

As for the Apple Watch, I avoid the image of the blind nerd drowning
in technology. I sort of already have it with a Victor Stream attached
at my belt and ear phone wires coming out of my ears. On an airplane
or long bus ride, the Blue Tooth over the ear headphones come out and
there is a big letter B on each ear cup. I listen to music on my
iPhone with these headphones.

My vintage Braille watch offers some of the mid-20th century blind
look before Apple Watches, portable book readers, portable recorders,
and talking smart phones. My nerdy side is confirmed when I go to an
event and pull out a broadcast quality microphone with a 20 foot cord.

Hi Kelly,

You make an excellent point. In fact, 9 times out of 10, I carry my 8 Plus in
my front left shirt pocket where it fits, quite nicely.

I would never carry a $1,000 device in my back hip pocket. Does this mean I am
not a nurdy guy? (smile)

Remember mark that the physical shape of the phones needs to fit into the pants
pocket of most men. If it can't fit into a back pants pocket, the phone is a
deal breaker for many. The edge to edge screen and plus size form factor
enables Apple to deliver huge screens for a smart phone without massively
blowing up the size so nerdy males won't buy it.

the disappointment will be for sighted people and the 10 R at the end of
October. Its screen will look about the same as the iPhone 4, introduced in
2010.

this is interesting. I had an 8 Plus which I thought I loved to death. However,
over a few months my hands really began to hurt from stretching to hold it.
Now, I know I have very tiny hands, but I couldn't wait to find a phone that
was a bit smaller. When I went to the Apple store I looked at the 8, but it
really was too small a screen for me. It made me feel like I was holding my 4s,
and I really didn't like the feel of that one. When I held the X I felt like it
was a good in between. It is not small but not the 8 Plus either. Yes, I had a
major learning curve to learn the gestures on a consistent basis, but it felt
much better for me to hold. What I am truly afraid of is that people are asking
for larger and larger screens to watch videos and TV that we with small hands
will be left holding uncomfortable phones. Nice, though, that we all are so
different.

God said, "I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet
gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all
day on a couch with a resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a
broken heart." So God made a dog.

Mark on iPhone 10 S Max and iWatch Series 4, Form-Factor

2018-09-22 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Let me just say that the following is just my opinion and it is not intended
to persuade or dissuade anyone of anything.

Yesterday, I went to a remote Best Buy retail store where, as I expected,
there were almost no customers.

The Apple section was completely deserted except for one very enthusiastic
Apple representative.

Although I had not fully recognized it myself, some part of me really wanted
to be wowed by the 10 S Max in terms of its 6.5 inch display size. As you
may recall, I have often stated that I am not ready for Face ID yet, I
discovered that I was somewhat open to purchasing a 10 S Max if it could wow
me, enough.

Five years or so ago, I had a friend who owned one of the first modern
phablets, the Samsun Mega. I believe the screen size was 6.3 inches. Its
physical size was so large that every time I used it, I felt as though I was
a little kid playing with a grown-up's device. I just couldn't stop
grinning, every time I held it in my hand.

It was huge Yet, despite its size, I really, really liked it. It felt,
just as the term phablet implies, like a cross between a phone and a tablet
computer.

Believe it or not, I found myself finding ways to spend more time with my
friend just so I could play with that Samsung Mega. (smile)

I almost bought one for myself but, at that time, I just didn't like Android
enough to make the investment. Soon after, Samsung stopped making the Mega.

I was so disappointed, in fact, that the Apple sales
rep thought that I had taken ill and asked if I needed medical attention.

Now I know that Apple made it clear as to the physical dimensions of the 10
S Max but, somehow, some way, I thought the form-factor would be larger,
much larger than my beloved 8 Plus. In fact, I suppose, I was counting on
it.

The sales rep, a very nice young man, began his spiel about how much better
the display is and how much faster the 10 S Max is, and blah, blah, blah!.

All I know is that, when I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell the 10 S Max from
my beloved 8 Plus.

As for the Apple watch? Same scenario. If there is any major size
difference, I couldn't detect it to the point where I wanted to buy a new
watch.

Now I realize that Apple is simply increasing the size of its displays
without increasing the physical form-factors but, for me, this is kind of a
let-down. I'm not exactly sure why this is so; perhaps, for me at least,
it's the marvelous memory of that Samsung Mega that, for better or worse,
set a form-factor size standard to which, one day, I hope to return.

Mark
