with how short the battery life is you make that sound so simple. I
fell asleep with them in the other night, and had to scramble to find
one when I woke up. The batteries were dead. I use them with my
computers, but for some reason the audio was acting kind of weird
today. All cracklely for some reason. I had to put them in the case
and all to fix it. I just was telling a friend yesterday I am ready to
get rid of them already.

You guys aren't leaving the airpods out of its case are you? because 
when not in use, they're supposed to stay in the case. if you leave them 
lying around, then they'll definitely die. I have never had any battery 
issue. just use them as normal, whenever you need a break just pop them 
back in the case for as long as that takes, and put them back in your 
ears when done. simple as that.

Come on now. Been there done that. Checpoint Charlie is such a tourist trap 
now. We've got a couple of pieces of the wall around here somewhere. At least 
that's what the souvenir shop said... More likely, it's just some mass produced 
chunk of concrete with some distressed spray paint on it, but whatever. I 
choose to believe it's part of the wall. 
Funny though, for whatever reason, There's a section of the wall installed out 
here in Southern California not 5 miles from my house. Some sort of Ronald 
Reagan memorial in the middle of nowhere. I tell my wife that we should go and 
take a picture of her standing in front of it and send it to my in-laws and say 
sorry, was in the neighborhood, but couldn't drop by. Maybe next time. Tschüss!!

Well, I had them for just under 2 years before I lost the entire case and Pods 
.. 

When they aren't in the case, you can play a tone and find them .. that has 
saved me a bunch of times .. I hope the next version have a similar feature to 
find the case ..cause it's easy to misplace them ..  Now I have certain places 
I put them .. and nowhere else...so, I only have 3 places to look .

That is a work-around but not the solution I want. What would you say if Apple 
decided not to put volume buttons on the phone any more because they tell you 
to just ask SIRI to change the volume. Also, what if you don't have an active 
internet connection then using SIRI to lower the volume is not an option or 
what I my iPhone is sitting on the charge pad but I want to use my Airpods 
while I am cleaning or cooking in the kitchen? As I said, I think the Airpods 
are great, I tried them and really like them, but I'll wait until they have 
volume control functionality and I can guaranty that the will get it. Way too 
many people are asking for this.

All you have to do is double tap and tell Siri to lower or increase the volume 
.. or go to a certain volume level.  Not always discrete…but works…

Honestly they are the best all around buds for what I do .. I’ve had all sorts 
of BT ones over the years, and hands down these are the best .. that’s why I 
decided not to wait any longer ..  but, sound and features are such a 
subjective thing, what one loves .. someone else might hate ..  If you haven’t 
tried them, I’d suggest going to an Apple Store and giving them a try …

Yeah, well I’m such an idiot I lost the entire thing .. case and pods.  Best I 
can figure is they popped out of my jeans somewhere.  I can still remember 
taking them out of my ears, putting them in my pocket grabbing my dog and going 
for a walk…and they just vanished.  Find my iphone confirms the last location 
as my apartment.  Which I have torn apart multiple times…  I’d like to see the 
next edition include a way to find the case…playing a sound on it or something.

I have done this and as I said, the two main issues are lack of volume control 
and one more thing I forgot earlier, they really should have a tiny hole or 
loop molded into the plastic where you could use a thin but strong line/string 
to attach the two Airpods. This way it would be much harder to loose them and 
they could hang around your neck when not in use.

All you have to do is double tap and tell Siri to lower or increase the volume 
.. or go to a certain volume level.  Not always discrete…but works…

Honestly they are the best all around buds for what I do .. I’ve had all sorts 
of BT ones over the years, and hands down these are the best .. that’s why I 
decided not to wait any longer ..  but, sound and features are such a 
subjective thing, what one loves .. someone else might hate ..  If you haven’t 
tried them, I’d suggest going to an Apple Store and giving them a try …

All this feedback really is not inspiring. 

I’m mildly intrigued by airpods, but yeah … I think I’ll stick with my 
Plantronics 5200 and Trekz Air combo until there are drastic improvements.

I am on my second pair … lost my first ones a couple of months ago, and finally 
gave up on the new ones being released anytime soon, so replaced them earlier 
this week.

 

I can get around 4 hours out of them, listing to audio…making the occasional 
phone call and such.  Remember, the higher the volume, the faster they will 
die.  If memory serves me correctly the 5 hours is listing to audio .. at 50%.  
So, adding in phone calls and bumping the volume will have a direct impact on 
this.

 

As was suggested I would talk to either someone at the Apple Store, or call 
their support line.  You should be getting way more than 2 hours ..

I do love my airpods... the only annoying and rediculous thing is the batery 
life! I can't get more than 2 hours out of mine... that is on a full charge. 
That has always been the case. Sure, it doesn't take long to charge... but come 
on!!! two hours? Really?

I have done this and as I said, the two main issues are lack of volume control 
and one more thing I forgot earlier, they really should have a tiny hole or 
loop molded into the plastic where you could use a thin but strong line/string 
to attach the two Airpods. This way it would be much harder to loose them and 
they could hang around your neck when not in use.

The best way to think of them is to cut off the wires from the standard Apple 
ear pods that come with the phones.  They are pretty much that design ...they 
do extend a little longer ...

Life, and besides not losing them, they sound amazing! I mean, the bass is

Honestly they are the best all around buds for what I do .. I’ve had all sorts 
of BT ones over the years, and hands down these are the best .. that’s why I 
decided not to wait any longer ..  but, sound and features are such a 
subjective thing, what one loves .. someone else might hate ..  If you haven’t 
tried them, I’d suggest going to an Apple Store and giving them a try …

I’m mildly intrigued by airpods, but yeah … I think I’ll stick with my

I am on my second pair … lost my first ones a couple of months ago, and finally 
gave up on the new ones being released anytime soon, so replaced them earlier 
this week.

 

I can get around 4 hours out of them, listing to audio…making the occasional 
phone call and such.  Remember, the higher the volume, the faster they will 
die.  If memory serves me correctly the 5 hours is listing to audio .. at 50%.  
So, adding in phone calls and bumping the volume will have a direct impact on 
this.

 

As was suggested I would talk to either someone at the Apple Store, or call 
their support line.  You should be getting way more than 2 hours ..

I didn’t see any mention of pricing. Was you comment about price based on 
current price? I’m guessing newer AirPods will be more expensive, but by how 
much is the question.

I am on my second pair … lost my first ones a couple of months ago, and finally 
gave up on the new ones being released anytime soon, so replaced them earlier 
this week.

 

I can get around 4 hours out of them, listing to audio…making the occasional 
phone call and such.  Remember, the higher the volume, the faster they will 
die.  If memory serves me correctly the 5 hours is listing to audio .. at 50%.  
So, adding in phone calls and bumping the volume will have a direct impact on 
this.

  Just came across this article on the iPhoneInCanada.com site. This has been 
reported on Mac Rumors by Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple analyst from TF Securities 
whose "rumors" come true more often than not.

  I am glad I have held off so far because even if I buy Apple Airpods it 
sounds like waiting a bit longer may reward you with a newer, more advanced 
model. Whatever Amazon and Google may come up with sounds like won't come to 
market until the second half of 2019 so maybe I'll even wait until then to see, 
after all, given the price of these little guys it is not something you want to 
buy and then regret a few month later. The sales predictions in that article

I am surprised at your statement of better sound since almost all reviews I 
read praise how good they sound and having briefly tried them at an Apple Store 
I tend to agree that for how tiny they are they do sound very good to me. I 
also have no issues with the Earpods which are essentially the same size and 
shape as the Airpods, falling out, but of course everybody's ears are 
different. I whole-heartedly agree about the lack of volume control, for a 
Bluetooth headset of such high price not to offer independent volume controls 
is laughable and it alone is primarily the reason why I have not yet bought a 
pair.

Well hopefully they are better than the first gen versions I have.
They fall out of my ears a lot of the time and I hate that there is no way to 
change the volume from the headphones. Last but not least better sound would be 
nice if possible.

Hi Keith,

It says in the article as follows:

Kuo earlier this year predicted Apple will release a new version of the AirPods 
with “wireless charging support” and upgraded Bluetooth in the first quarter of 
2019. Kuo says 2020 will see an even more improved model of AirPods.

What exactly the possible 2019 version will bring and whether it will come out 
in the first 3 or 4 months of the year as some seem to think or not until the 
September iPhone event is anybody's guess. I assume that the price for any new 
version of Airpods will stay roughly the same at around $160 US and $220 
Canadian and one can probably pick up the earlier model for a bit of a deal for 
a while after a new one comes out and until all the older ones are sold. I also 
think that if we start to see the current Airpods on sale at places like Best 
Buy, Target etc. then maybe a new one will be close. As I said, I'm in no 
particular hurry, I've gotten along this long without I can manage for another 
6 or 8 months or a year or a year and a half. I am not a huge fan of Bluetooth 
so it really needs to be a good update before Apple gets my money for those. I 
totally like the idea of the Airpods but I don't yet like the 
implementation/design.

To my reading, it sounds like you may need to wait until into 2020 before the 
upgraded version of Air Pods is released. Mostly updated Bluetooth and possibly 
wireless charing in 2019.

I didn’t see any mention of pricing. Was you comment about price based on 
current price? I’m guessing newer AirPods will be more expensive, but by how 
much is the question.
