hey, Joshua, I don't know if I responded to your message, but I also use my ID to open my phone. I do not use facial recognition. RE: New iPhone without tactile home button.
I am not sure why Joshua seems to set against using Face Id which makes it so easy to unlock the pho ne. That would be the same as me saying that I decided to upgrade from my iPhone 11 to the newly released iPhone SE and to say that I won't use Touch Id. Joshua, I can safely say that you will get tired very quickly to type in a PIN each time you want to unlock your phone. I always feel that way when I have to unlock my iPhone 11 with the PIN when I am wearing a face mask. Usually I have my Apple Watch on my wrist and I set u p my iPhone to use my Apple Watch for authentication so it is not so bad, but my wife and I are currently in the Philippines and we decided not to bring our watches because walking around with those on the wrist here may not always be the safest thing and I'm always annoyed when I want to unlock the phone and it doesn't work, then I remember that I don't have my watch. Back home in British Columbia we now don't have to wear masks any more in most situations other than flying and so on, but here in the Philippines you have to wear a mask more or less everywhere even in public outdoor settings and of course people here do it because the government is not as wimpy about enforcing it as they are back home. And before somebody who didn't pay attention recommends that I can now set up for my phone to unlock with a mask on if I installed the 15.4 update which I did yesterday, that only works if you have an iPhone 12 or above so with my 11 and my wife's 11 Pro apparently the hardware is not able to support this. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Dennis Long Sent: March 12, 2022 12:54 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: New iPhone without tactile home button. You can also use your Alexa to help find your iPhone as well. If I don't know where my iPhone is, I just say Elexa find my phone. Then, she will call my iPhone, and I can hear my phone ring and locate it. On 3/12/22, Paula Jordan wrote: > When I tried it I had blue tooth turned on in my hearing aids for phone > calls. RE: New iPhone without tactile home button.
Chuck, Go to Settings, Face ID and passcode, enter your passcode, swipe to require attention for face ID and make sure it’s turned off. This should have been off by default if you initially set up your iPhone 13 Mini with Voiceover running. I haven’t heard that this setting affects face ID recognition in the dark but it certainly makes face ID much easier for the visually impaired. Hi Chuck, You might want to ask somebody who knows how to use Face Id to help you for a bit until you get the hang of it. Here is what I do: 1. I wake up my phone by tapping the screen, but if you have tap to wake turned off which some people prefer then just press the side button 2. I touch near the bottom of the screen in the middle until I hear the little two-tone and then as I look at the phone I swipe up 3. Face Id recognizes my face and I am instantly placed on the home screen I am actually trying to remember how I can unlock my phone with Face Id and not be put on the home screen, but so far I haven’t found a way to do this. RE: New iPhone without tactile home button.
With your iPhone 8, you already pushed the button for the Home Screen, when you entered your fingerprint; that is not the case with your face. It is so natural now for me to slide my finger that I went to my phone to check to see if it was necessary, and it seems that it must be. Re: New iPhone without tactile home button.
Hello, I have no problems getting into the phone, when it’s daylight, it just seems like at night it doesn’t work, and I have to enter the passcode every time. When I tap on my screen, or hit the side button, I hear a sound kind of like the sound of the screen opening, and it goes to my lock screen, then I need to slide up from the bottom until I hear two tones, and then it unlocks the home screen. I suppose this is no worse than just pressing the home button, but it takes two hands for me to do this, with a home button I could use one. RE: New iPhone without tactile home button.
Where exactly do you end up after Face Id recognizes your phone and unlocks it? RE: New iPhone without tactile home button.
Anthony is correct, if your Face Id is set up correctly and works well then it can be absolutely and utterly pitch black without even a shred of any light, e.g. you could be in a cave 100 feet underground with no artificial light and it would work. To set up Face Id normal light maybe not a bad idea although it is not necessary to do it outdoors and with sunlight as some suggest. Re: New iPhone without tactile home button.
My next iPhone won't be a mini, but a pro model of some kind. I'll probably wait until the 15 comes out next year. This is because first, I've only had my iPhone 8 for around 3 years this June. Next, it will give me more time to save up the money to get a new iPhone. Also, I want a phone with as much storage space as possible and the best battery life. The 13 pro has better battery life then the mini. The 13 pro can get up to 22 hours of playtime, and the iPhone 8 that I have can only get at most 13 hours of battery life. Also, if you know braille, then I highly recommend the bluetooth keyboard, the Hable One. It is a small perkins style keyboard and is totally awesome! I can do so much with it, including responding to and creating emails. Hi Chuck, I strongly encourage you to set up face ID on your new iPhone. Touch ID is not available on iPhone swithout home buttons and having used phones with both types of biometric identification, face ID works much better than touch ID. Good luck with your new iPhone and I hope FlickType Classic is working well on it. Re: New iPhone without tactile home button.
Hi Chuck, No. There is no place on a face ID phone to put your finger do use touch ID. Touch ID is not on any iPhone that has Face ID. So the only phone that you can use that is currently produced is the latest iPhone SE which will be coming out shortly. That was announced yesterday. The older iPhone SE two can also be used, but it has been discontinued by Apple. You might find it in stores. Otherwise, no deal. I’ve use my 10 r with Face ID and Apple Pay without a problem. When iOS 15. Four comes out of beta next week, you will be able to use Apple Pay and Face ID even if you’re wearing a mask.
