Re: Quick way to delete contacts
I think I'm a bit confused here. No one is saying anyone needs to use Facebook to manage their contacts. The only point is that if you are using Facebook then it also has a set of contacts you need to be aware of when cleaning up your contacts. Re: Quick way to delete contacts
Hi Jewel, I stand corrected. I just looked, and the duplicate contacts apps are under productivity apps. There are several ones there, some are paid apps, and some are free. I actually purchased cleanup Dupes, and it's served me well for a couple of years. It does matches, and percentage matches, in other words, contacts that look the same, but they won't merge until you give the go ahead, either for each one, or for all of them. I do believe that the partial matches are sorted by percentage matches, in other words the 25% matches are listed so you can verify whether they are matches or not, or the 50% matches and the 75% matches, etc... . It can be done manually, or automatically, running in the background. You can either do a search in the app store for cleanup dupes, or check out the apps on applevis.com under the productivity apps list, as I believe cleanup dupes is listed there. RE: Quick way to delete contacts
Jewel I am not running through the process on my phone at this moment, but take these things into consideration. There is probably an edit button at the top of each contact page which will indicate you will need to hit on that to remove any data. I believe that there is also a delete contact at the bottom of each contact page. If your intention is to delete a contact, you will need to find that. The only other thing you might look for is a "done" button. If there is one, nothing will happen until you hit on that. Good luck. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Jewel Sent: Tuesday, May 3, 2016 1:52 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Quick way to delete contacts I have done many stupid things in my 77 years, but, surely, the most stupid would have to be when I acquired an iPhone exactly 1 year ago, a year that has been full of frustration and tribulation! yeah--yeah--yeah! Re: Quick way to delete contacts
There are apps listed on Applevis that are completely accessible that will merge all your contacts so that you don't have multiple contacts for the same person. I had the same problem... I had telephone numbers in one contact, and e-mails in another, and some had addresses in another contact. Boil it all down, the searches took forever. In any case, check the App section of Applevis, and under the utilities section, I think, there are apps that will do this. Good luck.
