RE: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2022-01-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The Airpods Max here in Canada are $779 + taxes, since in Ontario you have 15%
HST that means you would pay $ 895.85 for them.
The Airpods Pro are $329 + taxes and the Airpods Third Gen are $239 + taxes,
still 274.85.

I also agree with that as well and speeking as a Canadion yes I agree it does
cost more hear in Canada then it does in the US. And let's also bring in to the
situation those of us who live on fixt incomes like Ontario Disibillidey
support and live on like my self 700 a month for paying bills etc oncemy rent
is taken off. Yes I know that we have a lot more to live on but I am strickley
talking about the amount in the bank that we have to play around with once the
rent is taken off of my check every month since it is taken off automatically.
So for instince I have never had enough to pay for a IPhone out right so I am
stuck paying off a phone on a 2 year contract the same go's forajy other apple
products like the apple watch for example. Shure you can get one for 0 dollars
down but you still have to pay it off over the years. It would be nice if
programs hear in Ontario like the assistive divices program would support the
purchis of different apple products like the apple watch Iphone, etc. in fact I
filld out a servay that made that idea. My point is that I agree what people
choose or not choose to spend there oney on is there choice how ever not
everyone has the funds to upgrade to the latest and gratest every year or what
have you. For instince I am still using the Iphone 8 and it is still holding up
verry well. Could I upgrade? Yes of korce I could and I might or I might just
wate. But for instince the air pods wile I like the idea of beaing whierless
and having bluetuth on my phone I don't lissen to music will going out for
walks and stuff so to me the idea of just whired ear buds are just fine. How
ever I am happy to hear that they are only 200 instead of the 700 or what I
thought they would be. From Mich Verrier from New Liskeard Ontario Canada.

I agree with that, but it also depends on whether you are talking about
technology which is what I would call essential and technology which is less
so. I need my iPhone for many things every day so it better be in top shape,
but while for me a set of wired Earbuds are essential, a $700 Bluetooth headset
like the Airpods Max is luxury and before all of you south of the border inform
me that it is only $549 or whatever it costs there, I am talking about our
currency.
Anyways, it's like with everything, people decide what they need and what they
want and spend their money accordingly.

True, everything will be better in a year or two but then that's a year or two
I'll be using even older technology while I keep waiting. I'm not saying people
should never wait. It obviously depends on how long you'd be waiting and how
unhappy you are with what you have now. I tend to keep my technology for quite
a while, but I don't wait as long as I used to. I held on to my iPhone 4S
forever because I kept thinking if I just wait another six months, I'll see
what Samsung has to offer and then six months after that Apple will have some
new iPhones out and so on. By the time I pulled the trigger I was using a
device I was pretty unhappy with and that hadn't been getting IOS updates for a
while.

A statement which very rarely applies to technology because whatever passes me
by will be better in a year or two.
A good example would be the Airpods, if I wanted to buy a set I'd much rather
buy them now than when they first came out 4 or whatever years ago because I
know I'd be replacing them by now.

Have a look at the bose noise cancelling headphones.

The qc45 or the new ones which are something 700

And they are a lot cheaper than the apple max things.

Well I have been saying this for many months now. A complete waste of money in
my opinion because of that lead to technology that Apple allows in their
headsets in terms of not updating to the latest protocol.

Here is an interesting article which shows how limited Bluetooth connectivity
is and that includes the ultra high priced Airpods Max headphones:

[xlsx icon]Bluetooth Is Holding Back Apple’s AirPods
Ambitions

So, I'll continue to wait for a Sonos headset which will of course add the
headset to my existing Sonos system via Wi-Fi and will be able to provide true
lossless quality sound and most likely for less than what the Airpods Max dcost.

I use my bose NC700 headphones. They sound very good to me. I've
been using a set of anker headphones lately, and they also work very
well when listening to audio dramas, or bard books. It all depends on
what you can afford. I'm not saying that I'd never purchase a pair of
airpods max, but they are offly expensive. However, I found some very
good deals on Ebay.

True, and a very good point. This is why I don't presume to tell people what
they should or shouldn't do and whether a particular product is worth the money
or not. In addition to not knowing what other people's financial situation is,
I also don't know how important different features are to someone and how much
they're willing to pay for it.

Re: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2022-01-01 Thread 'Mervin Keck III' via VIPhone
I like the Sony WH1000XM4. It is very comfortable. Has great sound. Normally
retails for $349 US. However, I got a Black Friday deal for two of them for my
wife and I. They were $100 off for several weeks over the holidays.

RE: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2022-01-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
True, everything will be better in a year or two but then that's a year or two
I'll be using even older technology while I keep waiting. I'm not saying people
should never wait. It obviously depends on how long you'd be waiting and how
unhappy you are with what you have now. I tend to keep my technology for quite
a while, but I don't wait as long as I used to. I held on to my iPhone 4S
forever because I kept thinking if I just wait another six months, I'll see
what Samsung has to offer and then six months after that Apple will have some
new iPhones out and so on. By the time I pulled the trigger I was using a
device I was pretty unhappy with and that hadn't been getting IOS updates for a
while.

RE: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2021-12-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There have been rumors for quite some time, but earlier this year they
apparently showed off something at a tech show in Germany and if you Google
"When will Sonos release a headset" or something like that you find a lot of
articles from reputable sources where it was expected this would happen in
2021, but unless they'll make an announcement in the next 49 minutes it will be
2022 if at all.

Sonos headphones, well I’m in to Sonos so deep I would have to purchase a pair.
Are their rumors that Sonos is planning to release a head set?

This probably goes without saying, but I wasn’t saying that anyone shouldn’t
have a pair of Sonos headsets. I’ve always been intrigued with Sonos myself,
and if I already had an investment in the Sonos system then I’m sure I’d be all
over these headsets. This doesn’t mean I would ever regret the last 18 months
I’ve had with myh AirPod Pros though.

Christopher,

Your right there is argument for waiting and or not waiting,

I’ve got airpods pro and bose frames
But if sonos bring out a pair of real over the head headphones,
Depending on the price,
I’ll go there without waiting.

Sonos are an audio company
Apple make tech devices and are very good at it,

My sound system within my house is sonos,
Why should I not have a set of sonos headphones.

Obviously there’s nothing wrong with waiting, and I’m sure the Sonos headset
will be the bomb, but if I hadn’t gotten my AirPod Pros over a year ago then
that would have been over 12 months I’d been without my AirPod Pros. I’m not
saying the AirPod Pros are perfect or that everyone should run out and buy a
pair, but I’m just saying there’s also a cost for waiting.

Here is an interesting article which shows how limited Bluetooth connectivity
is and that includes the ultra high priced Airpods Max headphones:

[xlsx icon] Bluetooth Is Holding Back Apple’s AirPods
Ambitions

So, I'll continue to wait for a Sonos headset which will of course add the
headset to my existing Sonos system via Wi-Fi and will be able to provide true
lossless quality sound and most likely for less than what the Airpods Max dcost.

2021-12-31 Thread Richard Turner
First, Mary, The batteries can be replaced when they die; or at least that is
my understanding.
Second, Joshuah, I'm sure if you got an Apple Card you could pay them off in
time.
If people think Sonos will come out with a pair of headphones for less; I will
be surprised if they do and if their batery is driving Wi-Fi and bluetooth, who
knows what that will look like.
I'm quite happy with my purchase.
But, to each his/her own.

The airpods max are just way to much money. I've spent $300 on
headphones before, but that was because I could pay them off in
payments. I don't think I could do that with the airpods max.

The funny thing about audio is it is very subjective and a pair of

They’re worth it in my book.

Re: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2021-12-31 Thread Richard Turner
Ed, I agree 100% I'm coming up on a year with the Airpods Max and do not plan
to look for any other headset for music/movies.
I've never heard anything so good and you are right on concerning the issue of
any lag. There isn't one.

Re: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2021-12-31 Thread Ed Worrell
I have the AirPods Max headphones, and the sound quality is amazing.

The funny thing about audio is it is very subjective and a pair of headphones
that sound good to me will not sound good to the person next to me. I
personally don’t believe the price for the headphones was a waist of money,
they sound great and I’m happy with them. They are the most comfortable pair of
headphones I have ever owned. Oh yeah did I mention that the audio quality is
amazing?

Bluetooth will be a limitation for any set of headphones that are “wireless”,
Apple actually has done a remarkable job with their W1 chip and it makes for a
very seamless experience pairing and they have figured out how to get rid of
the bluetooth lag that seems to be present in most “wireless” headphones.
Voiceover doesn’t stutter or drop out in the slightest.

They’re worth it in my book.

2021-12-31 Thread chrisjudge1967

Well I have been saying this for many months now. A complete waste of money in
my opinion because of that lead to technology that Apple allows in their

RE: A reason not to spend the big Bucks for Apple Airpods including Airpod Max or at least not yet

2021-12-31 Thread Simon A Fogarty

Best regards,
Sieghard

I couldn't read that article you posted. Microsoft wanted me to sign
