You can just double tap the play button which appears momentarily after
you lift your finger.

Re: Audio Messaging On IOS8

2014-10-23 Thread RobH.
Ok, when I put all the right things on, I found that the send button sat
next to an inactive text field, and tapping said Send button converted it to
a record button, which I then used. So all very interesting, finally.

Thanks, RobH.

When you enter a message thread, don't bring up the keyboard. The place
where the send button is will now say record audio. If you bring up the
keyboard, or if it comes up on its own, the button will now function as the
send button for you to send a regular text message. If this happens, back
out of the thread and try again.

Thanks,
Ari

Hi folks,
hope that Apple will improve the quality of audio messages. Up to now this is
no real alternative to services like WhatsApp or others to me. I’m wondering
why Apple chose this low quality format since they usually take over functions
from other services and try to make them better than the rest.

Re: Audio Messaging On IOS8

2014-10-22 Thread Bill Gallik
Steve;

I can understand your presumption that the audio messaging should function
similar to all other audio processing in iOS, but this is not quite the case.
When composing an audio message, you double tap the record button and keep
your finger on that button during the recording. When you lift your finger off
the button, that stops the recording.

  Hi friends,

Just tried it quickly but for some reason, couldn't get it to work, am I
going about it the right way as follows:

I go in to a new message, add recipient then add a contact who is an IPhone
and IMessage user.

I double tap in the message text and then double tap the send audio button.
I assume that it is then recording and I speak my message and double two finger
tap on the screen when done.

This doesn't seem to work from there on, it seems to think that I am trying
to enter something in to the to box?

Steve;

I can understand your presumption that the audio messaging should function
similar to all other audio processing in iOS, but this is not quite the case.
When composing an audio message, you double tap the record button and keep
your finger on that button during the recording. When you lift your finger off
the button, that stops the recording.

You have to double tap and hold on record audio. Another way you can do it
is to raise your phone to your ear once you are in a message, wait for the
two tones, then speak your message, let your hand down, and then press send.

Re: Audio Messaging On IOS8

2014-10-22 Thread Gmail
When you enter a message thread, don't bring up the keyboard. The place where
the send button is will now say record audio. If you bring up the keyboard, or
if it comes up on its own, the button will now function as the send button for
you to send a regular text message. If this happens, back out of the thread and
try again.

Thanks,
Ari
