Re: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-08 Thread Wayne Merritt
For what it's worth, I've been using Fantastical for over 5 years. I
didn't sign up for a subscription, mostly because it didn't offer
anything I couldn't live without, but also like Richard, I don't think
I should have to pay for the privilege of using a calendar. I have
looked at a few other calendars at times, but find myself going back
to Fantastical. When scheduling a new event, I usually hit the new
event button, and then flick to the show more button to show all of
the fields possible. I would rather enter the information myself than
use Siri. I leave the view set to month and am able to access
everything just fine. I have no trouble when navigating the month
view. Sometimes it does get annoying to have to keep going back to the
month view to change days, rather than seeing a list of days. On the
other hand, having the month at the top and the list of appointments
or tasks at the bottom works best for me.

Kindly,
Wayne Merritt

Once you set the basic appointment with Siri, then select edit on that
appointment, things get better.
I think you may find things get a bit better yet this fall.

The calendar seems to work well as long as you're willing to use Siri to set up
appointments. Finding the location field when editing an event can be tricky.
But besides that, it's fairly straightforward.

RE: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-08 Thread Richard Turner
That could be that you are in the Day Ticker, which is monumentally frustrating.
You want the month or just calendar view if you want to try and make sense of
it.

But like I said when I mentioned it, I switched back to the Native Calendar app
because I wasn't happy with the change in Fantastical and refuse to pay their
stupidly high fees for the honor of subscribing...

Re: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-05 Thread Dave Clement
Hello,

The app is called "vo calendar". It is a simple calendar app designed to work
with Voiceover gestures. It displays the current week's events in a simple list
format. At the bottomof the screen are four buttons: "settings", "Other
month", "previous week", and "next week".

Double tap on the day of the week to get a simple list of events for that day.
At the end of the list of events is a "enter new event" button, a "back"
button, and a "record memo" button.

Adding a new event will walk you through entering the partofthe day, the hour,
the minutes, and a text description for the event.

Double tapping an event willallow you to alter the test description, the part
of the day, the time, move the event to another day,or delete the event.

The app does not support repeating events, alarms, alerts,or reminders. It is a
simple calendar app but it is very easy to use and integrates with your IOS
calendar. Itcan be used along with the IOS calendar app or other calendar apps
like FantastiCal.

I hope this helps.

RE: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-05 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I had Microsoft 365 at one time with another ID, but I let that lapse, and I
still need to sign up with my current ID, so I’m not exactly sure why my status
is with Microsoft 365 and the account I’m using now. I do have a free Microsoft
account that I’m using now. That’s why I’m saying people should check their own
milage because I can’t say for sure what you get with the free Microsoft
account. There are some features that integrate with Microsoft 365
applications, like the task list in Outlook, but if you have Microsoft 365 then
you’ll get those features and if you don’t then you won’t be interested in
them. Bottom line is that I’m pretty sure Microsoft To Do is a perfectly usable
stand alone to do list app, and I still encourage people to check it out for
themselves if they’re looking for a to do list app.

BTW, here’s what it says in the App Store including the end where it let’s you
know what you get with MS 365 integration. The direct URL is at
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-to-do/id1212616790

Quickly capture and retrieve your lists and tasks across devices by syncing
reminders and tasks with Microsoft 365 to access them anywhere. For lists in
personal accounts, you can collaborate with anyone with updated notifications
for any changes to your to-do lists.

Capture tasks from different Microsoft apps and services and sync them with
Microsoft To Do, from flagging emails as tasks in Outlook to lists from
Cortana. Your tasks and lists are hosted securely on the Microsoft 365 service.

Make your lists unique with customizable features like emoji, colorful themes,

If you haven't already, you might want to give Google Calendar a spin. They put
effort into making their software accessible. Microsoft has a free app called
Microsoft To Do but that's more for task management. There are tons of calendar
apps and there may be accessible ones undiscovered by blind people. However,
the only ones I know about are paid apps. Google Calendar is likely the best
bet for something accessible and totally free.

Re: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-04 Thread Johnna Simmons
VO calendar is the name of it It’s not free but it is a completely accessible
app. It is called a version of calendar. I believe it’s only $10. But it works
seamlessly with iOS and voiceover. It also syncs with the native calendar app
if you set it up that way

Re: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-03 Thread Maria Campbell
I have a mystery I hope someone can help me solve.  I don't have a
native calendar app, and I don't find a calendar app that I may have
deleted in the not on this iPhone portion of purchase in the app store.
How do I then get the native calendar app?  I have an SE2020 with latest
IOS upgrade.  It would be great to be able to make appointments with alerts.

No quotes of course.

The commas between each phrase cause it to put the parts of the

So the above would set an appointment for Dr. Smith on July 21,

It is just basic but it has the language parsing you were asking

Re: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-03 Thread K. Scott Carlson
Fantastical might be what I need; I'd just have to try the free version out. If
anybody has tips for sticking with the Apple Calendar, though, that would be
great.

RE: Free Calendar App?

2021-07-03 Thread Richard Turner
I don’t know if Fantastical is offering their basic version for free these
days; but I would never recommend subscribing as I think they are massively
over priced, but if you can use the basic for free, it allows you to write a
phrase like:
“dr. smith, 10:30 AM, 07/21/2021, alert 1h”
No quotes of course.
The commas between each phrase cause it to put the parts of the appointment in
their proper fields.
So the above would set an appointment for Dr. Smith on July 21, 2021 at 10:30
am with an alert 1 hour before.

It is just basic but it has the language parsing you were asking about.

Mostly what I'm looking for is something that has natural language parsing so I
don't for example have to manually scroll through every day of a month.

2021-07-03 Thread Michael Feir
If you haven't already, you might want to give Google Calendar a spin. They
put effort into making their software accessible. Microsoft has a free app
called Microsoft To Do but that's more for task management. There are tons
of calendar apps and there may be accessible ones undiscovered by blind
people. However, the only ones I know about are paid apps. Google Calendar
is likely the best bet for something accessible and totally free.
