Re: Keeping track of birthdays

2012-04-29 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, you can do this from the calendar app by entering them as events, or
if you have the birthdays listed in your contacts, you can use an app
like Never Miss, which will send you a push when the day arrives.

Cheers.

Why not just use the Calendar app and put people's birthdays in as events?
Alternatively, if you are on Facebook, you would probably get reminders of your
friend's birthdays.

I have a question though about the bug in the native calendar app. It kicks you
out of the app when you tap on an all-day event, but does it save it?

Re: Keeping track of birthdays

2012-04-28 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi Jenny,

You can tell the calendar when to remind you about birthdays; if you enter them
in Contacts, you'll be reminded at the time you specified.

I use the calendar to remind me a week ahead of time and then use an app called
NeverMiss to remind me on the day. It takes the info from your contacts and
reminds you on the day at whatever time you have specified.

To enter a birthday in contacts, edit a contact, choose Add Fields (or a
similar title) near the bottom of the list of fields, and locate the Birthday
field.

Best,
Anna

RE: Keeping track of birthdays

2012-04-28 Thread Richard Turner
NO. It just kicks you out and you lose whatever you had entered.
And I had been misinformed earlier, the All-Day event bug is only for
voiceOver users.

A work around would be to set a start time of 12:00 AM and an end time of
11:55 PM.
That is about as close as we can get to All-Day until Apple decides to fix
this bug that has been there since 5.1 was released.
