RE: Labeling photos app

2014-11-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Charles,

If you are a Windows user you can connect your iPhone to the PC with the
Lightning cable. If you have pictures on the phone there is a good change the
Internal Storage folder of the iPhone will open automatically, if not just go
to Computer with the Windows Key+E shortcut, at the bottom of your list of
drives you should find your iPhone. For photos you can open it just like a USB
drive, just drill down through all the folders until you get to your images.
You can then copy individual pictures or select all and copy them, then go to a
folder on your computer and paste them with Control+v.
Just remember to use Control+C for copy, you can't move (Control+x) or delete
the pictures from your computer. If you want to delete them after you copied
them you have to do this from the Photos app on your phone. You also can't copy
pictures to your phone this way so they show up in the Photos app as pictures
or albums, if you want to put pictures onto your phone you have to do so using
iTunes.

Sieghard

Hello,

I am wondering how you all transfer the photos you have taken to your computer?

Thank you.

Re: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Hi,

Other people may have a better solution, but I tend to connect the
phone to a computer after each photo, copy said photo onto the
computer rename it based on its contents. Alternatively you could
make a note of when each photo was taken what it was of, then when
transferring them you could inspect the date time that they were
created, matching up each photo to your notes.

Cheers,
Ben.

Re: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose
Yes - they're ordered by date time taken so it's not really a huge
issue if it's just one or two photos. I do quite a bit of eBay selling
so I have to put them onto a computer anyway; I tend to do them one at
a time though so I can be absolutely certain that I'm putting a
MacBook on one of my listings not a glass of homebrew.

Cheers,
Ben.

I'll have to look at that closer, I thought all photos were in date/time

of the list for the last photo while I remember what I last took. I shovel

naming conventions and methods to do the job.

I'll be interested to seeother suggestions though, we're always here to

Good morning, I am totally blind and was wondering if there's an application

out there where I can label my photos. I am getting into these buy sell
trade groups on Facebook and need to take several photographs.
I sure do miss the old days of iOS, where it photographed had a number such

as 001, and the like at least then, I could have my cited assistant tell me

that 001 for example was stereo headphones so on and so forth. You can't do

that with this new thing they got now.
I can't see the photos, so I don't know what I'm posting so if anyone out
there knows of an app that could help me label my photos that way I can post

my pictures independently. Thanks in advance.

Re: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Donna
Hi

Tap Tap See may be able to do what you need. I haven't figured out a way to
label the pictures using the app. The app does have access to your camera roll
and can describe what the picture is. For example if you take a picture of a
pair of headphones Tap Tap See would return a description of headphones or if
the brand can be seen the description may say Sony headphones. Within the app
you have the option of posting the photo to facebook, sending the photo by text
message or email and copying the photo

Camfind can also identify photos in your camera roll, but I haven't figured out
a way to label the photos and there isn't an option to share the photos.

RE: Labeling photos app

2014-10-28 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Donna,

I think it would be good if a lot of people would write to Apple either using
www.apple.com/feedback or the accessibil...@apple.com email address to request
that Apple would implement photo labelling either as a feature for all users or
an accessibility feature. Not being able to effectively label photos in iOS is
definitely a big deal for blind users, but you even find threads where sighted
users ask for this. I wonder how difficult it would be for Apple to add a
feature where you could maybe double tap on a photo and a menu would pop up
with options like Delete, Move and Label or something like that. If it was an
accessibility feature it would maybe be done via the rotor, e.g. swipe down or
up to get to options like Label, Delete, Move etc. Then if you double tap on
label a simple text box would come up similar to the custom label feature which
would allow you to add a text label but without changing the actual file name
of the picture and it's order.

There are a bunch of apps in the app store which allow you to add labels to
pictures, but I think most are meant for sighted people who want to add
artistic tapes, stamps and widges to photos which may or may not contain a text
label. A Google search for Labelling photos in iOS 8 gives you a number of
results and it seems that an app called labelbox is well regarded and has
already been updated to take advantage of iOS 8 extensions. It's a large app,
over 100 Mb, and it's free with in-app purchases. I did download it, but so far
have not been able to get anywhere with it. I guess apps like this which are
heavily focused on visual effects might be more difficult to make accessible
and of course many developers may not even think about that. I wrote to the
developer of Labelbox and mentioned the potential usefulness of his app for
blind iOS users and if I receive a reply I'll post it here.
The main problem with I think all of these apps is that you have to open the
photo in order to see the description and I think what a blind user really
would appreciate is a label which would be read along with the date the picture
was taken when you go through your listing of pictures.

Another app which comes to mind is Photovoice. This has been discussed before
and I believe there might even be something about it on Applevis. This app
allows you to record a voice label in your own voice, but once again you do
have to open the photo in order to play this label. It basically converts your
picture to a small video file in order to allow for the voice label. Here is
the app store link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/photovoice/id492150568?mt=8

Another app which does basically the same thing is called SpokenPhoto, but I
can't say anything regarding whether it is accessible or not. It is, however, a
free app whereas Photovoice is 99 Cents. Photovoice also has not been updated
since January 2013 which is almost 2 years. SpokenPhoto was updated in April
2014 which is a lot more recent. Here is the link for SpokenPhoto:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spokenphoto-give-your-photos/id491723663?mt=8

Good luck,
Sieghard

2014-10-28 Thread Richard Turner
I have not been following this thread, but I have had no trouble labeling
photos or videos since iOS 7.1.2
In iOS 8.1, my previous labels are there and creating new ones works just like
before.
I use the standard gesture of a two finger double-tap and hold and enter text
in the field and or delete what is there and enter something new and then
double tapping on the done button in the lower right corner.
