RE: Question About Touch ID
That makes sense about touch ID and facial ID. It will be interesting to see what ever happens down the road. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Mr. Ed Sent: Wednesday, March 10, 2021 7:38 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Question About Touch ID Hi, Let me explain about the new touch ID that apple rumors are talking about. The rumors say the new touch ID will be that you can touch anywhere on the screen with one finger and it will read your finger print to open the iPhone. Another words there is not going to be a home button to put your finger on like it the past on the iPhones. Now the second comment I want to make about worrying about someone holding the iPhone up to your face to open it. If you are going to worry about that then here is another hypothetical for you to consider as some of you are saying touch ID is safer. What if someone hits you on the head and takes your finger and puts it on the screen of your iPhone and opens it? So as you can see you can play this hypothetical game all day long worrying about someone opening your iPhone and which one is more safer face ID or Touch ID. Re: Question About Touch ID
No system is completely secure. There have been reports of law enforcement using a dead person’s finger to unlock an iPhone with TouchID, while I have not heard such reports related to FaceID. All things considered, I am completely comfortable and confident using the FaceID system. - Brad - On Mar 10, 2021, at 09:50, Carolyn <4carol...@windstream.net> wrote: I would wonder if touch ID is more secure than facial ID, in that no one could grab a phone, hold it up to someone's face and get it open. RE: Question About Touch ID
I assume this is a rhetorical question, but I wear a mask during this pandemic in order to protect those people around me. I wouldn’t want someone to get COVID-19 because I’ve contracted it without having any symptoms. I also want to help businesses and the economy. People will feel safer going out if they see people around them wearing masks. It's all about managing risk, so I’ll wear a mask where it makes sense. I’ll take it off though when I need to, such as when I’m eating or drinking, using face ID or talking to someone who wants to read my lips. Of course, in those cases, I’ll practice social distancing, make sure there’s good ventilation, wash my hands and take other common sense precautions. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Outlook From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Simon A Fogarty Sent: Tuesday, March 9, 2021 9:26 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Question About Touch ID Who’s wearing a mask? Re: Question About Touch ID
There are rumors that TouchID may come back in some incarnation, possibly a sensor on the Side/Power button, similar to what is on the current iPad Air. I doubt there will ever be another iPhone that relies solely on TouchID. FaceID is a vastly superior system. I find it interesting that individuals who have never experienced FaceID, are always asking if a future iPhone will have TouchID. - Brad - On Mar 9, 2021, at 18:21, Shirley Baker wrote: What was the reason for removing it to begin with or does anyone know? RE: Question About Touch ID
They got rid of it because they said face ID was more secure and they wanted to dump the finger print sensor. The finger print sensor gets in the way of having a nice smooth slab of glass. If it comes back, it'll probably be as an in screen finger print sensor. -- Christopher (AKA CJ) Chaltain at Outlook -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Shirley Baker Sent: Tuesday, March 9, 2021 6:21 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Question About Touch ID What was the reason for removing it to begin with or does anyone know? Re: Question About Touch ID
There is a rumor, and remember it is a rumor, that the iPhone 13 might have touch ID and/or face ID. Time will tell. Richard "You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young." "Why, what did she tell you?"
