RE: Wifi issues continue
Hi all, To the person who asked if i have re-installed ios 5 with a clean install , yes i have. Nope did not work. I guess its just some security feature implemented by apple that when the phone goes into sleep mode wifi connection just drops? I am giving up as the router won't get replaced until it does not allow for any device to connect. Any other thoughts or suggestions? RE: Wifi issues continue
Hello Marissa, You might want to go to an Apple Store if you have one nearby since you should definitely not loose your WiFi connection when the phone goes in sleep mode. I never had that issue with either my iPhone 4 or 4S. I assume it could be the router's fault, but it could also be a faulty WiFi radio in which case they probably replace your phone. Re: Wifi issues continue
believe it is hardware problem with 4S. Have Ipod with same OS, Ipad, several computers on Windows. My brother has now just started having same problem with 4S, different carrier too. It will get so bad that you can't see any WIFI networds anywhere. All other devices never lose the WIFI. I thought it was my imagination at first, but finally it deteriorated to the point where it would not see any WIFI. This occurred over a several week period of time. Re: Wifi issues continue
Yep, tried everything including wiping phone clean. It would work when I first turned it on but as soon as phone went to sleep, lost WIFI when I went to use it. Apple store did same thing with same result which is why I hung around the store for about 10 minutes after they put the phone through diagnostics. They saw it happen and gave me another phone. I've read a few articles about one of the chips being defective in a lot of the 4S phones and it causes this WIFI thing to happen. Only cure appears to be a different phone. And hope it doesn't happen on this one. I got the 2 year maintenance to get me through until I can go for a new phone with my carrier which will be just in time. Re: Wifi issues continue
I have an iPhone 4, and also have issues with my wifi dropping, so it's not just a 4S issue. It doesn't matter which display I have connected, whether it be an Apex, Refreshabraille, or Focus, the issue persists and on a wide veriety of wifi connections. SO, I'm not confident it's a braille display issue specifically, but I'm also not very confident in diagnosing the problem. I had no problems at all until directly following the last upgrade. I have a 4S and never had connected any type of braille displays. Hello. Is this with only certain braille displays? My display is fine and my wifi does not drop even though I use the bluetooth on my braille display. Re: Wifi issues continue
Lois, That may be the case for you and I do not doubt that. However, your issue may have no relation to what I am experiencing. The hope of course is that the issues, regardless what those may be, are addressed in iOS 6. I'm working with Apple and will continue to do so if the issue persists. I know they want to find a resolution to the problem as much as I do. Kawal, I use an APH Refreshabraille, but not sure it is specific to the display because I know someone who has the same display and does not have the problems I'm experiencing. The unfortunate part is there are as many variables as possible issues. :) So, finding the solution is going to be incredibly difficult. Re: Wifi issues continue
Hi, There will probably be people that tell you otherwise, but I don't think theres enough information out there to pinpoint a specific hardware combination that this happens with. For example, I have a 3GS running 5.1.1 and experienced the issue with 2 different Netgear routers; other people have had the same issue on a 4S under 5.1.1 with dLink. If anything I'd blaim 5.1.1 so hopefully we'll see a fix in iOs 6. Cheers, Ben. On 9/8/12, Donald L. Roberts donald.robert...@gmail.com wrote: I too have a related question. Re: Wifi issues continue
Hi Scott. Just curious, what makes you think the issue is related to braille displays? I have connected a bunch of different devices to my phone at different times and am having this issue. But how could the bluetooth in the phone be related to the Wifi? I ask because I plan to purchase either a 4S if the price is right or possibly an iPhone 5. Thanks. Re: Wifi issues continue
The reason why I believe there is a relationship is because I have encountered numerous issues with the iPhone not connecting to my network and none of these problems started until I paired my Refreshabraille to the iPHone. I've done a pretty fair bit of testing and removing the pairing for the display has resolved the issue. In fact I was sitting here reading a couple of publications and found the WIFI connection dropped on a couple of occasions. So, this would take a lot of discussion on the list which may not be of interest to others. So, if you want to discuss it further drop me a note off list and I would be glad to explain more. Re: Wifi issues continue
Marie, I apologize if you have covered some of these questions, but I do not recall, so here are a couple of questions. First do you have any bluetooth devices paired to your iPHone? If so what are those devices and if you can provide model numbers of devices such as Braille displays. I only have APple routers here in the house, but I think I might still shave an old Linksys WRT54G which probably has some pretty outdated firmware. I may be able to drag it out and setup a wireless network here to do some testing. If you like to contact me off list you can send a message to scottn3...@gmail.com. In fact I would prefer you contact me directly with the information regarding your devices and especially if you have a Braille display. I hope I can offer some help here.
