RE: bug with new Siri voices phone crashes IOS 11

2017-09-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
First of all, the SIRI voices while nice are a bit less responsive. Having said
this, I have had absolutely 0 issues having the US femal SIRI voice on my
rotor. This means by default Samantha High Quality is used, but if I turn the
rotor to languages and flick down I get the SIRI voice and unless I change it
again or reboot the phone it stays on the SIRI voice. If there is an issue
setting them as the default voice, why not use that work-around, set Samantha
as your default and whichever SIRI voice you want as an additional voice on the
rotor, then change to the SIRI voice and turn the rotor away from langauges
afterwards. This should get you the SIRI voice until you have to do a reboot
and while I don't know about your habits, I don't do those very often.
I even turned Voiceover off completely with a triple click home after changing
the voice to the SIRI voice to see what happens and even here when I turned
Voiceover back on I was still getting the SIRI voice. I would have expected
this to go back to the default.

Regards,
Sieghard

Yes, it looks like the problem is related to the Siri male voice.

I also wondered if anyone has any ideas what to do to solve this, as I know

OK everyone. Ihave had to do a hard reset twice on my 7 plus today using IOS
11. I had been using the new Siri male voice. I also use a Refreshabraille
display and twice today my phone decides to crash requiring a hard reset. Voice
Over is lost and the only thing that comes up on the display is messagesand
there’s no moving around as voice over is lost. Can’t even do a ?ree fingle
double tap to turn on the speech so I reset. After I do and the phone reboots,
Samantha comes on but the Siri male voice is selected. Soafter this happened
for the second time today I decided to go back to Tom. Hopefully this doesn’t
happen with any of the other voices.

Yes, I called Apple accessibility hotline, they told me to go through the
"reset all settings" (which caused me to loose an incredible amount of
data/settings), and it did not help at all!

It happens whenever I use Siri male voice.

2017-09-24 Thread kg7fa2
Hi all, I have found that the Siri voice is not especially suted for
Voice Over, as it uses to much of your phones resources. I had a very
interesting situation with the Sirius XM app, whare it would crash and
then not let me open it again. I switched back to Tom, and it is now
working correctly. I just wish that my Voice Dream Reader problem could
be fixed that easily!

Have a good one:

RE: bug with new Siri voices phone crashes IOS 11

2017-09-23 Thread Chip Orange
Yes, I am having the same issue (although I have no braille display).

Each time, after the reboot, I am using a different voice when the phone comes
back up, and the Siri Male voice I had downloaded and was using is still
showing as selected, but it now needs downloading again.

I also wondered if anyone has any ideas what to do to solve this, as I know
many people using the Siri voice as their VoiceOver voice, so I don't really
think the voice itself is the issue?

Thanks,

Chip

Re: bug with new Siri voices phone crashes IOS 11

2017-09-23 Thread Anouk Radix
Hi, I had this problem with male siri voice as well in ios 11. I have Dutch as
standard and had him as english us voice on my rotor. But when I wanted to
select him after a while (it did not happen instantly i think) voiceover
totally crashed and I had to do a reset. I went back to alex.
