Richard, glad to share, thanks. When I saw the virtual demo, I was ready to
run right out and purchase, assuming I could find the money somewhere smile!!
The price is $3,500.00. Company in FL (is US distributor) has a 10% sale that
ends tomorrow.

With the glass, the person was able to look around the room and objects such as
chairs, doorways, tables, books, etc were identified. The person doing the
demo showed us a feature that allows you to augment the info you have by
connecting to a human who has access to a part of the ap that allows them to
see what you are seeing. This feature reminded me of a AIRA contact.
Demonstrator had the unit scan and read a recipe. While not demonstrated, was
told that the unit can read columnized material such as newspapers. Asked if
I would be able to use the glass to identify a vehicle such as paratransit van,
uber, lyft, etc while standing inside a building looking out the window.
Demonstrator did not know.

Can download the ap and try it free for two weeks. So, I did. My excitement
and enthusiasm turned in to genuine frustration and disappointment. I tried
scanning a single page document that was able to read with voice dream scanner.
I never could get the camera to see all four edges of the document regardless
of how I moved it. I finally gave up and just had it read whatever it could.
The result was nothing recognizable. I got the same results on a couple other
documents. So, moved on to the explorer part of the application. With this
feature, could take a picture of object and ap would identify it. Scene
descriptions were not accurate, but they sure were interesting!! For instance,
one time it referred to my guide dog as a possible bear. The second time it
called her a possible large cat!!! I will say that I have never been able to
get accurate object identification with seeing ai either. Am thinking that
accuracy issues could be caused by the fact that I have no clue how to take
pictures, and am using the original Iphone se, all be it with the latest
software .

I wonder whether the glass requires you to take pictures or if it just
automatically somehow identifies the object. Even though I understand envision
ai and glass can be used with wifi and hotspots, it still seems like you would
be using a lot of data and battery power to constantly be exploring
environment.

So, that’s as far as I have gotten with envision ai. I know there is a help
feature that I need to explore. I just downloaded supersense and have started
playing with it. Like Richard, I found the fact that it immediately starts
scanning without you doing anything, disconcerting..

They make cases that you can wear that hold the phone so the camera is pointed
in front of you, several are like a harness that has the phone clamped in so
no one can just grab it. And they are often less than $50 instead of 3000 plus
and you then do not have another battery powered device to keep charged.

Well, I do not think any of the systems with glasses are worth that kind of
money when you can do all that just with your phone.
And, Envision AI still has not impressed me enough to even pay for a
subscription.
Seeing AI had a very impressive update today. Check it out.
Also, Supersense for the explore feature does as good a job as Envision AI.

Thank you, for telling about your experiences with the glass, way too expensive
for me. As much as I appreciate all the scanning apps, and also scanning
software for the computer, it would be really wonderful if being able to read
the experation dates on products could be done or worked on. Possibly there may
be something I'm not aware of, for example if any of the scanning apps or even
softward can read the experation dates, that again I'm not aware of, and or
there may be some technical reason why it's not possible. Though I wish being
able to read the experation dates could be possible and truly worked on. It's
really, really important. Unfortunately even the scanners such as the id mate
can't seem to read that information and it's very much needed information, even
if you have some general knowledge of how long a product lasts, along with all
the other important product information that can be read by the scanning apps,
scanning software for the computer and the hand held scanners.

Kitty,

I think I’m not the only one who would like to know what you thought of the
demo of the Envision Glasses?

Thanks,

Richard, I am amazed at how much stuff I have been able to skim and read with
Winston’s scanner program. At a minimum, am able to screen mail to find out
what it is and determine if human assistance is needede. Guess the thing that
attracted my attention to envision ai is the wearable glasses and all that you
can do with them. Goint to be checking out a virtual demo tomorrow.

With the glass, the person was able to look around the room and objects such as
chairs, doorways, tables, books, etc were identified. The person doing the

connecting to a human who has access to a part of the ap that allows them to
see what you are seeing. This feature reminded me of a AIRA contact.

I would be able to use the glass to identify a vehicle such as paratransit van,

Even though I understand envision
ai and glass can be used with wifi and hotspots, it still seems like you would
be using a lot of data and battery power to constantly be exploring environment.
So, that’s as far as I have gotten with envision ai. I know there is a help
feature that I need to explore. I just downloaded supersense and have started
playing with it. Like Richard, I found the fact that it immediately starts
scanning without you doing anything, disconcerting..

I purchased a year subscription to Envision. I don’t think the quality
is as good as Seeing AI. Mind you, I’m referring to short text. I have
not tested out Envision on documents. I mostly bought the subscription
to show my support of their efforts. Somehow I missed the memo on
SuperSense or would have given them a try.

Hello,
I have both envision and seeing A I on my phone. I use the Dexcom G6 and Seeing
A I reads the code just fine for me. For me I find that Seeing A I reads short
text better than does Envision. I was lucky enough to have purchased Envision
last year when they had a big sale on the lifetime purchase. It was probably
one of the best purchases I have made on my iPhone. It works quite well when
scanning documents.

RE: comparing envision ai ap to seeing ai

2020-12-18 Thread Richard Turner
Have you tried Supersense on your meter?
I'd be very curious if it worked.

Especially given that it has a one time purchase option for around $50 right
now.

Richard, in the U.S.

"You know," said Arthur, "it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon
airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep
space, that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was
young."
"Why, what did she tell you?"
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

Hello All,

I utilize the Envision Ai app through out my day. I find the image recognition
is first class. The document scanning is great, but to me where Envision Ai
beats Seeing Ai hands down is instant text recognition. I use this to identify
codes on the back of my continuous glucose monitors sensor used for pairing to
the app. Seeing Ai doesn’t even see the code. Envision Ai picks it up and reads
it to me on the first try every time. I also have the Envision glasses… They
are great assuming you have an active internet connection. They are comfortable
and easy to pair to the phone for updates and set up. I won’t get into the
glasses to much as that’s off topic.

Richard, I am amazed at how much stuff I have been able to skim and read with
Winston’s scanner program. At a minimum, am able to screen mail to find out
what it is and determine if human assistance is needede. Guess the thing that

Hi Richard and all,
Thank you for the mention. I would be happy to answer any questions
you may have about the Supersense app.
We have also just received great news, which is that our research and
development department will be continuing our partnership with the
National Science Foundation. This means that the features you have
been requesting for Supersense will be developed much faster. :)

I tried Envision AI, and in my opinion, it is not so much better than Seeing
AI. In fact, I'm not convinced it is as good. It is different, and has a
different focus I think; but for all my scanning needs, a combination of Voice

Now, SuperSense is yet another player in this field, and it to me seems better

subscription, which is essentially $50 instead of $100. Or you can do a monthly
