Re: help with the garmin glo gps receiver

2013-03-12 Thread John Gallagher
Hi Cara many thanks yes worked it out now. it's
great the garmin glo really is. At 04:07 12/03/2013, you wrote:

Hi John,

when a bluetooth GPS receiver is paired with the
iPHone, the phone will automatically use it
instead of its own internal GPS radio.

So any apps that use GPS will also use that BT GPS receiver as well.

I'm not sure if an app will automatically be
able to switch from using the phone's internal
GPS receiver to an external receiver while it's
running (or at least I'm not sure how graceful
the switch may be) so it's possible you may need
to restart the app if you connect the receiver while the app is in use…

Hope this helps and have a great night!

Smiles,

Cara :)

2013-03-12 Thread John Gallagher

Hi there probally so but it certainly works very well with my iphone.
I have not tried it yet with my braille note apex as I am a bit
scared of doing a reset.
Apparently Mike May says it is difficult to pair with the apex or
sense products.

I do a bit of bus and train travel so it will be good picking up the sats.
sometimes I loose the signal on buses.
thanks then.

Hi John.

regarding the garmin glo, hasn't that receiver been superceeded by a
newer model?

Not sure.

The other gps system it supports that starts with the letter g, sorry
can't remember the name is that just available in europe or also here
in the U.S.?

Thanks.

RE: help with the garmin glo gps receiver

2013-03-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi John,

I think what Jim wanted to know and I also would like to find out is whether
the on/off button is just a button or an actual switch. For example, do you
physically feel if it is on or off or do you just have to push the button
and hope that it's on or off? I guess you can always go into your Bluetooth
after you turn it off and check to see if it says it's not paired which I
guess would mean it's off, but it would be nice if you could feel it on the
receiver itself.

I don't have one, but I heard a podcast where it said that it was a push

No other way if you're total unless you go into the settings to check if
it's paired

Re: help with the garmin glo gps receiver

2013-03-11 Thread Cara Quinn
Hi John,

when a bluetooth GPS receiver is paired with the iPHone, the phone will
automatically use it instead of its own internal GPS radio.

So any apps that use GPS will also use that BT GPS receiver as well.

I'm not sure if an app will automatically be able to switch from using the
phone's internal GPS receiver to an external receiver while it's running (or at
least I'm not sure how graceful the switch may be) so it's possible you may
need to restart the app if you connect the receiver while the app is in use…

Hope this helps and have a great night!

Smiles,

Cara :)
