Hi John, when a bluetooth GPS receiver is paired with the iPHone, the phone will automatically use it instead of its own internal GPS radio.
So any apps that use GPS will also use that BT GPS receiver as well. I'm not sure if an app will automatically be able to switch from using the phone's internal GPS receiver to an external receiver while it's running (or at least I'm not sure how graceful the switch may be) so it's possible you may need to restart the app if you connect the receiver while the app is in use… Hope this helps and have a great night!
