RE: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-03-06 Thread Richard Turner
I agree with you Sieghard. Especially now that BARD is moving to the cloud for
their storage, I can redownload a book faster than I could ever copy it to a
device from a hard drive.
I no that is only for folks in the US, but it is also faster to download
Audible or Libro.fm books than it is to move them from a backup system to the
iPhone etc.

But, to each his/her own.

Everybody makes choices about what to keep, I think when it comes to digital
storage there are horders just as there are with physical objects. Some people
keep everything they ever buy even if it means they have a garage full of junk
in boxes they never open or even have to rent storage. Others sell things they
don't use any more or give them away. I know some people who download every
Audible book to keep a copy on their computer, I personally couldn't care less,
as long as there is an internet and electricity I have access to every book I
ever bought via my library. Yes, then some argue that maybe some day there is a
catastrophy and the internet will go down for good and maybe we'll go back to a
time before electricity, but then of course my computer backups don't do me
much good, either. Like I said, everybody decides, but I agree that buying an
iPhone with that much storage is not for me.
I would be spending hundreds of Dollars more for a device I will replace in 2-4
years and if I really filled up all this storage space of course you would want
to somehow back it up. The good thing is that as storage increases at the top
end it will also increase at the bottom end and just as we used to have iPhones
with 8 and 16 Gb storage, now we have 64 and 128 Gb, soon 128 Gb will probably
be the lowest yu can get and that is fine for me. I currently have an iPhone 11
64 Gb and while I have a few hundred photos on that phone, I still have almost
half of the 64 Gb available. I don't use my iPhone for music because if I want
music I listen to it at home via my Sonos system so my iPhone is usually for
listening to Audible and here I usually have 3 or 4 books downloaded at a time
at most. Once I'm done with a book I remove it from the device and back into my
online library it goes.

There's also those who might like making lots of video and taking lots of

How judge-mental and offensive of you to call those who want iPhones with large

You know nothing of these individuals and why they may want an iPhone with a

The benefit of an iCloud backup is to keep changes, settings, photos,
videos, and other unique and created data backed up before it can be
transferred to a computer hard drive. Rips of CD’s and DVD’s do not
need to be backed up in the cloud because they are already on a
computer hard drive.

Not everything you put on your 1TB of storage on your iPhone would have to be

How judge-mental and offensive of you to call those who want iPhones with large
amounts of storage “lazy asses”.
You know nothing of these individuals and why they may want an iPhone with a

iPhones have an expiration date. to make your money go as far as
possible,
by the latest model soon after it comes out and hang onto it for a long
time. I bought my iPhone 7 in October 2016. If 2021 will be the last year
it will receive a full iOS update, then I will have had a fully updated
and
functional device for six years. Few companies in the technology industry
continue to support devices for this long. I have not changed the
battery
and it still lasts for a day of use. I am actually looking forward to a
mini iPhone when I replace my 7.
The market for used or refurbished iPhones is pretty robust. They sell
for
a lot less than what they did a few years ago because of all the
discounting, rebates and payment plans for new iPhones.

I would like a 1 TB phone for books and other content. Having a
faster processor will be very nice as well. If there were an easy way
to copy things like my bard books onto my computer for backup I'd do
so. I really don't like that the bard mobile app once you download
books to your iPhone, there is no way of backing up your books to the
cloud, they must stay on your phone. I have begun the process of very
slowly checking my bard collection against what is on my phone and
putting what I need into a folder on my external drive. I also
download any bard book to my drive if I need to do so. It will also
be nice to have a louder bottom speaker on a new iPhone. My sister
has an iPhone 11 and her speakers sound very good.

It would be interesting having a iPhone with 1tb of storage,

However iCloud only gives you 5gig of storage free so backing up a 1tb phone
would be somewhat costly.

I bought an iPhone 7 in 2016 with 128 GB of storage and it has served me well.
I have enough room for all the music I would ever need on a week’s long cross

wanting to rotate music out of their iTunes Library and transferring more music

Re: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-03-03 Thread Kelly Pierce
I bought an iPhone 7 in 2016 with 128 GB of storage and it has served
me well. I have enough room for all the music I would ever need on a
week’s long cross country trip with plenty for photos, videos and
voice memos. That being said, big storage is rather popular. I wanted
to upgrade to an iPhone Mini and the 256 GB version was completely
sold out and backorders were not possible because of the high demand.

For those who read 9to5Mac, I did state though that those who crave 1
TB on their iPhones are lazy asses who can’t be bothered in moving
photos and videos off their phone and onto their computer. Similarly,
they are lazy in not wanting to rotate music out of their iTunes
Library and transferring more music into it.

More storage you can never have to much storage space. I had a 128 gb
IPhone 7plus, and when I made the upgrade I had to get the 256 12 pro
max. I will most likely go 512 or 1 tb next time.

I’m pretty sure that ipads have 1tb storage already,

I know surface pro tablets have 1tb builds,

And why people would want this,
Well it’s really only the users business,

We all have our own thoughts on what we use
And should respect others thoughts and requirements.

You should dabsolutely not buy the current 12 Pro, all you read about the
new iPhone 13 points to a much better phone with significant upgrades. I
believe you are somebody who likes to keep his iPhone for more than just a
year or two and the iPhone 13 ith next gen 5G support, most likely

to upgrade even though we only got the iPhone 11 a year ago. For me this
would be the first time I upgrade after just 1 year, the only other time was
in 2011 when Apple released the iPhone 4S with SIRI and I upgraded to it
from the iPhone 4 which was my first iPhone and which I bought in 2010.
Whenever major new features are involved like 5G, Lidar, MagSafe and so on
it seems upgrading the year after these technologies are introduced is
always a better choice.

Hi to all. In a few more months
, I should have the money to purchase a new iPhone. At first, I thought
about the 12 pro, but I know, that maybe by October or around there, the new
iPhone 13 will probably come out. Should I wait for the 13 to come out, or
purchase the 12 pro. Thanks for any suggestions.

The nice thing about choice is that it doesn’t need to make sense to everyone.
It isn’t like Apple will only be coming out with just the 1Tb option on the
iPhone. If the extra storage doesn’t make sense to you, then don’t buy the
phone with that much storage. As I said, I wouldn’t spring for it myself, but
it doesn’t bother me in the slightest if others go for that option. In fact,
I’d even let my wife get that phone, although I’m sure I’d try to talk her out
of it before I gave in. She’s quite the shudder bug.

You should dabsolutely not buy the current 12 Pro, all you read about the
new iPhone 13 points to a much better phone with significant upgrades. I
believe you are somebody who likes to keep his iPhone for more than just a
year or two and the iPhone 13 ith next gen 5G support, most likely
under-screen Touch Id as well as Face Id will be much more future proof. My
wife and I bought the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, respectively last fall
because our carrier offered a pretty good deal and we both had an iPhone 8
in ver good condition which we were able to sell for a pretty reasonable
price, but depending on the final specs of the iPhone 13 I might be tempted
to upgrade even though we only got the iPhone 11 a year ago. For me this
would be the first time I upgrade after just 1 year, the only other time was
in 2011 when Apple released the iPhone 4S with SIRI and I upgraded to it
from the iPhone 4 which was my first iPhone and which I bought in 2010.
Whenever major new features are involved like 5G, Lidar, MagSafe and so on
it seems upgrading the year after these technologies are introduced is
always a better choice.

2021-03-02 Thread Esther
hi, Joshua, I am in agreement with you. I would love to get one of those
phones. However, with the way this phone is acting, I don't know if I can
purchase this one with the large capacity. Esther

RE: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-03-02 Thread Dennis Long
I was asking because I was curious not to judge. I didn't know that audible
books could be downloaded and stored on the phone so I learned something.

Why questions imply judgement, and are seldom useful.
IN reality, it is no ones business but his or anyone else's why they would want
that much memory.

I am so interested in that. I'd get an iPhone with one terabyte of internal
memory no matter how much it cost.

2021-03-02 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I completely agree. Sometimes people ask questions because they want to learn
something, or they're genuinely curious. They could also be asking for
clarification so they can provide some help. Other times though they're just
using a question as a way to criticize or judge. I'm not interested in a 1Tb
iPhone myself because, among other things I don't keep the books I read from
BARD on my phone because I can always download them later, but I'm not going to
criticize anyone else for getting a 1Tb iPhone.

I've found gb128 of memory plenty for me.

Some people read a lot of audiobooks and record Voice memos in addition to
photos and videos. The audio books that we listen to on audible and bard are
often downloaded on our phones which take up memory.
I’d get an iPad with a 1 TB option if it becomes available.

Re: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-03-02 Thread Priscilla Garces (prisci)
Some people read a lot of audiobooks and record Voice memos in addition to
photos and videos. The audio books that we listen to on audible and bard are
often downloaded on our phones which take up memory.
I’d get an iPad with a 1 TB option if it becomes available.

Why questions imply judgement, and are seldom useful.
IN reality, it is no ones business but his or anyone else's why they would want
that much memory.

have thought of getting another new phone but have disided that I am going to
wate since shure telus my carreier has a good deal 0 dollors up frunt on the I

since my 8 is working quite well and from what it sounds like the 13 will have
a lot of fetures that will work for the future. From Mich Verrier from New

You should dabsolutely not buy the current 12 Pro, all you read about the new
iPhone 13 points to a much better phone with significant upgrades. I believe
you are somebody who likes to keep his iPhone for more than just a year or two
and the iPhone 13 ith next gen 5G support, most likely under-screen Touch Id as
well as Face Id will be much more future proof. My wife and I bought the iPhone
11 and iPhone 11 Pro, respectively last fall because our carrier offered a
pretty good deal and we both had an iPhone 8 in ver good condition which we
were able to sell for a pretty reasonable price, but depending on the final
specs of the iPhone 13 I might be tempted to upgrade even though we only got
the iPhone 11 a year ago. For me this would be the first time I upgrade after
just 1 year, the only other time was in 2011 when Apple released the iPhone 4S
with SIRI and I upgraded to it from the iPhone 4 which was my first iPhone and
which I bought in 2010. Whenever major new features are involved like 5G,

Whenever major new features are involved like 5G,
Lidar, MagSafe and so on it seems upgrading the year after these technologies
are introduced is always a better choice.

Re: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-02-28 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Thanks guys for all your help. Since I do have a few more months to
save, I think I'll wait for the 13. I really hope it has touch ID
along with face ID. I'm looking forward to more internal memory, and
a faster processor. For some reason, my bottom speaker on my iPhone 8
just kind of died and stopped working. It will be nice to have a bit
louder speaker. One of my cousins has an iPhone 11 and I was
surprised at how good her speaker actually sounded when playing music.

2021-02-28 Thread Peter Logan
Joshua,

Depending on how much longer you need to save for .. well that might play into
your decision. If you were ready today, then getting the 12/12 Pro now I think
would be fine. Remember the 12 has only been out for just a few months. If
you have 3 or 4 more months to save, then at that point I'd wait.

Some of the comments others have made are valid about 5G and other features,
but again depending on where you live .. when will 5G come into play. I still
have areas around me that are 3G...LOL...

HTH ..

The market for used or refurbished iPhones is pretty robust. They sell for a
lot less than what they did a few years ago because of all the discounting,
rebates and payment plans for new iPhones.

RE: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-02-27 Thread Ann M Medlar
Hi,

I just bought iPhone12Pro and my husband got the 12Max.

My husband graduated from flip to iPhone and I went from ip6 to 12+.

There was a 2 for 1 iPhone offer at T Mobile. I would have stayed with 6 but I
could not run newly developed apps on IOS versions > 12.

So far so good.

Ann

I recommend holding off and waiting until the 13 comes out. There are a couple
of reasons for this. For one thing, the LIDAr is rumoured to be offered in all
models of iPHONE so you'll have more flexibility about which kind of iPHONE to
get without sacrificing that capability. The chip in the 13 series of iPHONEs
will be more advanced which is always a good thing that adds years to how long
your phone will be supported after purchase. Also, the 5G capabilities will be
the second crack Apple takes at including in an iPHONE. Any lessons they
learned from the experiences of iPHONE 12 owners will be incorporated into the
13s. Provided you're reasonably content with the iPHONE you have, I'd say it
makes more sense to wait.

I'd either wait for the 13 and get it or get the 12 Pro at a better price.

RE: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-02-27 Thread Richard Turner
I agree with Michael,
Unless there was something you could not wait for, like you have to have the
Lidar scanner by summer rather than waiting until fall, I'd wait.
The prices usually stay about the same and you could see if the new features
and chip in the 13 relaly look worth getting. If not, the 12's will no doubt
be available for less money when the 13 is released.
So, a win, win.

definitely wait for the iphone 13; it should come out with the Lidar scanner,
