RE: Calls disconnecting, when I barely touch the screen of my iPhone.

2024-02-28 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Direct touch allows apps to provide a part of the screen where gestures aren't
captured by voiceOver. Think of self voicing or braille keyboard aps. The
direct touch setting allows this to be turned on or off for the app.

Screen recognition gives you access to app controls that may not be visible to
VoiceOver. This will make some apps more usable.

If the two finger double tap doesn't hang up a call then you may need to wait a
beat after you pull it away from your ear before using the magic tap. The
screen needs to wake up after it's no longer next to your face so it can
register the magic tap.

Remind me of what the purposes of direct touch and screen recognition are. I
think direct touch may be the cause of some odd behavior I have been having
since I got my 15 Pro back in late September.

Interesting. I received my new iPhone 15 pro on Friday. This has happened to me
several times since I got it. Just keeping an eye on it for the next couple of
weeks and if it seems like an issue I'll be taking it back to Apple.

Direct Touch is an item under VoiceOver settings, Rotor, rotor items. You can
select it so in the rotor you will be able to turn it on or off depending on
the situation. It is usually best left off.
For Screen Recognition, go into VoiceOver settings, VoiceOver Recognition and
Screen Recognition is one of the things you can turn on or off, and you can
have it on for only certain apps. It is something Apple put in so if a
developer didn't bother making their app accessible from the start, it can help
in a few situations.
I find it usually causes more trouble than it is worth if it is on where it
isn't necessary.

What is direct touch? Where do you go to change it? Also, where do you go to
change Screen Recognition?

Still, now I am not having that problem, so glad. Good thing too that the dial
is up on the screen when I get a call, which is good, if I need to make a three
or four--way call, don't have to go to App Switcher and open Phone for that.

2024-02-27 Thread Richard Turner
Have you double checked the settings?

I don’t know what those phones default to, but if for some reason direct touch
is on, or maybe screen recognition, that could change how it behaves.

RE: Calls disconnecting, when I barely touch the screen of my iPhone.

2024-02-27 Thread Carolyn Arnold
I went to Phone in Touch in Accessibility and turned on Prevent Lock

I retraced my steps and have Prevent Lock from ending call on. I said off. It
was off. I turned it on. Right now, it is OK.

2024-02-27 Thread Carolyn Arnold
Thanks. I ended up going to Accessibilities; Touch; and Phone. There I turned
on Prevent Lock from ending calls. Then I tried calling Time and Temperature,
touched all over the screen, and retained the call. Thanks.

I got the suggestion from the iDevices list about going to Accessibilities,
Touch, and Phone.

Naturally, turn off phone and back on, first rule out to do.

RE: Calls disconnecting, when I barely touch the screen of my iPhone.

2024-02-27 Thread Carolyn Arnold
That I do. Even if I barely touch the side of the phone at the left or right
edge it happens. I have to try to think to lock my screen. Then, if I need to
go into it, so far, I haven't had problems making three-way calls or checking
what the weather is here or someone's phone number in my contacts that a caller
has had but misplaced.

Well, I would just make sure, that you're not focused on the end call button.

Re: Calls disconnecting, when I barely touch the screen of my iPhone.

2024-02-27 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I believe there is an option to hang up call on pressing the side / lock
button. Do you think this might be your issue? I generally have the opposite
issue where i think I have hung up using the two finger double tap only to
continue hearing sounds coming from the speaker.
