Re: Digit-Eyes and Canon MP620 printer
Yes, the label number refers to the size of labels and not if it's designed for laser or inkjet. Usually labels and printer paper will state if it's designed for laser, inkjet, or both. Once I made the mistake of purchasing labels for laser printers. I had the correct size/number but when I used it in my inkjet printer, the ink just smudged right off. Everything was printed in the correct spaces but the ink just would not adhere to the labels. Lesson learned, I now make sure I purchase multi-purpose paper and labels since I use both laser and inkjet. :) I believe it's very possible that there is a setting with your inkjet that is causing your printer to print off of the labels. Sometimes I have to play a little bit with the settings to make sure scaling or paper type is correct. Once, I had my paper set to print borderless which changed the placing of the printed text. Best of luck to you. HTH, Christina C -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: Digit-Eyes and Canon MP620 printer
Actually, the first digit in Avery labels is significant and tells you the type of printer the label is designed for. a leading digit 5 means it is designed for laser printing; a leading digit '8' means it is designed for inkjet and a 4 or 6 is a combo label. There is a list on our website of common ones http://www.digit-eyes.com/cgi-bin/digiteyes.fcgi?action=labelInfo Rick, I looked at the labels you sent -- your printer is scaling them and printing the entire sheet smaller than it should. Eileen had the same problem and she found some settings that had to be changed -- they said 'fit to page' or 'fit to printable area' or something like that and she had to turn them off and (if I remember right) set sizing to none On Tuesday, May 1, 2012 1:31:52 PM UTC-5, ccwiner wrote: Yes, the label number refers to the size of labels and not if it's designed for laser or inkjet. Re: Digit-Eyes and Canon MP620 printer
Hello everyone, So I received my 6570 labels. I did a test print with my Canon MP620 printer. Results are ok but not amazing. The code prints completely on the label so it is usable. It still is not centered so I still have some work to do to figure out my printer. I need to practice a bit more with these labels before I can report back. Thank you Nancy for the tip about the Avery numbering system. I was given some labels that start with the number 5 so now I know those should be used on a laser printer. Meanwhile my 6570 labels can be used on either Ink or laser. It is hard to improve my printer set up skills as I cannot see the results and my sighted helpers have limited patience when it comes to printer issues. Still it is working well over all. eric Caron On May 1, 2012, at 10:18 AM, Nancy M wrote: Those are my very favorite labels and I use them in my HP Inkjet printer where they work great! Eric, Thanks for the report. It sounds like at least you are having some success with the new labels. I should be getting mine tomorrow and can't wait to give them a try as I had no success whatsoever with the Office Depot Avery knockoffs I was using. Not even my wife who is sighted was able to get a scan so I'm hoping for at least some success with these Avery labels. I'll also report back once I've tried them. Hi Christina, Thank you for your help. Your directions worked just fine, as far as saving the PDF. I then tried printing from Preview but again my labels are off by a quarter of a inch. I'm probably just going to give up and instead use different labels at work on my HP Laser printer. I just preferred being able to use my home printer, the canon MP620 Ink jet. this way I could print what I need and when I need them. This made all the difference for me concerning recognition time with Digit-Eyes. I went from beginners frustration to efficient fast user just with that change. The long labels left too much guess work for me to center the camera. Though I thought I was centered I rarely was. Once I had a square label things worked much better! I am looking forward to trying the close to square, slightly larger, 1 and 1/4 by 1 and 3/4 quarter inch labels I ordered. I'll certainly send a message with a update. Best. I only know how to follow the steps on the Digit-Eyes site and open the PDF when I press the link. I'm entering unknown territory here. I never thought to question the browser or the PDF area. I just assumed it was the printer or something in my printer settings. Once I have sighted help I could try other browsers on the mac or my virtual machine. However opening in Preview sounds like it would be the easiest solution. So, how do I have the page open in Preview? Eric Caron On Apr 22, 2012, at 8:58 PM, Christina wrote: I had a similar problem. I was using safari browser on my mac. For some reason if I printed from the Adobe safari plug-in the labels did not print in the correct spot. However, if I opened the pdf with preview instead of the browser plug-in, it printed wonderfully. I'll be checking in with Cannon and trying a different package of labels soon, but in the meantime I can't seem to get the Avery 8160 labels to work
