Hi Mark and Lori,

I updated Digit Eyes and after I read your messages I just opened the app on
my 5S and it did not crash. I briefly tried to scan something and after
double tapping the scan button the app did it's usual clicking sound, but I
didn't get a hit on the barcode. Either there was none or even though the
app didn't crash it didn't really work. Anyhow, while I still have Digit
Eyes on my phone, I rarely use it any more since my first choice is always
Camfind, then either Talking goggles or Tap Tap See depending on what
information I am looking for. Camfind and Tap Tap See usually do such a good
job recognizing stuff that I rarely find it's necessary to actually find the
barcode any more.

Re: Latest Version of Digit Eyes Crashing

2014-11-01 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello,

CamFind and TapTapSee are developed by the same company. CamFind is a free app
where you take a picture and CamFind will read what what is in the written
word. It will also populate a list of links where you can find information on
the product. TapTapSee is a free download, but because it uses crowd sourcing
you need to purchase a package of a specific amount of pictures. The least
amount of pictures that you can purchase is 50 for $4.99. The app use to be
totally free, but when the monies ran out from the Kit Starter project
(funding) they needed a method to keep the service alive. TapTapSee can tell
you all sorts of of information, as well as Talking Goggles. Talking Goggles is
another free app. It will also reveal written information and identify objects
such as food cans, error messages from a computer screen, and many other
objects. However, it will only capture small amounts of information, which can
be fustrating at times. However, it has gotten me out of a jam when I didn't
have sighted assistance. It's nice to have a choice and lots of tricks on ones
bag to obtain object recognition. I'm sure others will have more to say about
all of these apps and please chime in and correct me if I given incorrect
informaiton.

Re: Latest Version of Digit Eyes Crashing

2014-10-31 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello,

I believe I have responded to this problem, but I don't know if it was posted.
When the current version was released, I downloded it onto my iPhone4 running
iOS 7.0.6. I experienced the crashing issue also. However, when it was
installed on my iPhone6, it worked perfectly. So, the upshot to this story is
that those who are having problems using Digit-Eyes to see if they are using
one version or another of iOS 7.0 or 7.1.2. As one member posted, the developer
is working on a patch to correct this bug. The unique feature of Digit-Eyes is
to be able to create your own barcode labels and afix them to anything. There
are many times when I use this app in conjunction with other object recognition
apps such as what hat been mentioned in this thread. For example, I'll use
either Talking Goggles or CamFind to read a bottle of wine and then use
Digit-Eyes to record the audio label before storing it in the wine cellar.
Enough of my rambling and I hope all get the picture that each app has their
unique qualities and place in choosing how one can obtain information. HTH.

Best,
Eileen

2014-10-29 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hi,

This Seems to be iOS 7 related. When using the app on the iPhone4, I had this
problem. With the iPhone6, running iOS 8.1, it runs perfectly. I used the app
this morning in conjunction with CamFind to create audio barcode labels for my
new coffee arrivals. I hope this clarifies where the problem lies with iOS 7.0
versions. I have written to Nancy also.

Cheers,
Eileen

 Hello All,

I just updated to the latest version of Digit Eyes and, to my dismay, I find
that attempting to scan anything causes the app to crash on my 5 S running
 iOS 7.12.

 Can anyone confirm this?

 Thank you,

 Mark
