Yes, I am able to delete the normal way, but I have to refresh between
deletions to see the list without the deleted title. But deleting is
working for me on an iPhone 6 running 8.4.

I am still curious if others can delete the normal way, i.e. double tap the
main delete button and then have delete buttons showing up for each book
without doing anything else. This is working for me and has been ever since
this was initially fixed a few versions ago.

Hi craig and others,

This is very strange, I now have an iPhone 6S, but I also still have my 5S and
I have the most recent Audible version on both devices (version 2.6.1 (377).

The Delete function works and has worked for me as it should in the last few
versions. I don’t remember when it was broken that time I think when they first
introduced the 2.5 or 2.6 series of updates, but then they fixed it and it has
been working fine for me without any work-arounds.

All I do is double tap the Delete button at the top (to the left of Refresh)
and then all the delete buttons beside each book show up, I can double tap them
and the book is gone. The app no longer asks to confirm if you want to delete,
but that’s fine with me since one would assume that by the time you get to this
point you know you want to delete the book.

I still think it’s too bad that the buttons to delete each book only say
“Delete” and not Delete followed by the book title, but I usually swipe so I
know for sure I am on the correct delete button.

All the delete buttons are along the very left edge of the screen, to the left
of the book titles, but when you swipe right, Voiceover reads the book title
first, then it reads the “Menu” button and then comes the delete button.
Interestingly enough, when the main delete button is activated and you explore
the screen rather than swipe, the Menu buttons which are normally down the very
right edge of the screen, are nowhere to be found, you hear them only when you
swipe, but they actually don’t do anything when in delete mode.

Maybe some others can check if this works for them, but I also hadn’t heard
lately that the delete functionality was broken.

I do, however, agree that it would be nice if for Voiceover users delete was
once again a rotor option as it once was.

Sieghard

RE: New to Audible iOS app

2015-10-07 Thread Rose Combs
Trust me I always close that screen on Audible and Kindle, I know that, but,
sometimes it seems I cannot delete a book I finished because the app thinks I
did not finish it. Odd but then, I am getting used to that lately.

Hi Rose,

The app does not force you to rate the book. Yes, the rating screen pops up
once you finish a book, but you can simply tap the close button at the top left
and that will close it and your book will show as finished.

RE: New to Audible iOS app

2015-10-07 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,

Sieghard

Re: New to Audible iOS app

2015-10-07 Thread chris
I got the delete function to work, but it would be nice to have it as an
action in the loving actions rotor. Audible's method could inconvenience
and even fool new users like myself into thinking one cannot delete a
book from the app.

Hello, Chris.

The "Delete" button does indeed, at first glance, seem pointless. Here's
how the deletion process should work. The user double-taps the "Delete"
button. Then, right next to each title on the device, there is another
"Delete" button with the VoiceOver hint "delete from the device." If the
process were working normally, pressing this button would, in fact, delete
the book. Trouble is that the operation isn't working right for VoiceOver
users, but there is a work-around. After you have pressed the initial
"Delete" button, press the "Cloud" button followed by the "Device" button.
In other words, you are shifting focus from your device to the cloud and
back again. Once you have made this focus swap, the second button, the one
with the VoiceOver hint of "delete from device," magically appears. Press
this button, and the book will be gone.

Thank you, we should not have to perform 5 actions to a sighted person’s two to
complete the same thing. It is the only thing about Audible that I truly hate,
it should be as in mail, swipe to delete button and erase. I am glad I have a

finished, probably because I refuse to rate them, I don’t rate anything
especially when some app tries to force me to do so.

Hello, everyone.

I have reported this problem in detail to Audible along with the concern that
this is the third time, I believe, that the "delete" function has been broken
for VoiceOver users in the last year or so.
