Actually the NEST thermostat was developed by a previous Apple
employee/engineer. I can't remember who it was though. But when I first
heard about the NEST I downloaded their App and created an account on their
Web site. I then contacted them about the inaccessibility of their app. The
response I got back was disheartening. They had no interest in my request

If anyone is interested I can dig up their response, but after hearing that

Hi,
there’s also a thermostat that can be interacted with via an app through
A.D.T’s pulse service which automates many things around the home including
their security services, thermostats and lighting.
I’ve no affiliation just a customer who can verify that the app is accessible.
It’s just one more option out there in the US and options are always good to
know about any way.

Re: Thermostat with accessible iPhone App

2012-08-02 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
I don’t work for the company and thus would suggest consulting a salesperson
for more.
It might be reasonable to expect that you’d have to have some level of security
service in order to establish a pulse account but you know what they say about
assuming. It might be best to inquire directly of them.
I already did have security services wit them so turning my account into a
pulse one wasn’t a difficult choice for me.
At that time no one with whom I spoke knew if the app would work with voice
over. I took a chance and am glad to report that it works very well indeed.

RE: Thermostat with accessible iPhone App

2012-08-02 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Paul,

I don't know anything about this Puls system, but why bother with something
which may require an account and possibly even one that has a monthly cost
attached to it if you can buy a thermostat for $99, get it installed and
then download a free app which is fully accessible to control it. To me it
doesn't get much better than that and both Brett and myself are running
these with no issues.

Hi,

there's also a thermostat that can be interacted with via an app through
A.D.T's pulse service which automates many things around the home including
their security services, thermostats and lighting.

I've no affiliation just a customer who can verify that the app is
accessible.

It's just one more option out there in the US and options are always good to

Robin,

How much configuration with the thermostat can you actually do with the IOS

the thermostat?

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't work for the company and thus would suggest consulting a salesperson
for more.

It might be reasonable to expect that you'd have to have some level of
security service in order to establish a pulse account but you know what
they say about assuming. It might be best to inquire directly of them.

I already did have security services wit them so turning my account into a
pulse one wasn't a difficult choice for me.

At that time no one with whom I spoke knew if the app would work with voice
over. I took a chance and am glad to report that it works very well indeed.

You're probably thinking of the Nest and Apple had zero to do with it.

Hi,

I recently had a Wi-Fi thermostat professionally installed. The
iPhone app is excellent and accessible. I'm on my way out, so I
can't provide all of the details right now. Here is a website for
you to check out. http://radiothermostat.comradiothermostat.com

I purchased my Wi-Fi enabled thermostat from Home Depot for $99.

Re: Thermostat with accessible iPhone App

2012-07-31 Thread Keith Watson
Actually the NEST thermostat was developed by a previous Apple
employee/engineer. I can't remember who it was though. But when I first heard
about the NEST I downloaded their App and created an account on their Web site.
I then contacted them about the inaccessibility of their app. The response I
got back was disheartening. They had no interest in my request and have no
intention of pursuing the issue.

If anyone is interested I can dig up their response, but after hearing that
crap from them I am not interested in doing business with them.

RE: Thermostat with accessible iPhone App

2012-07-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
So then who cares, if Nest is not accessible and if the devs are not
interested just go with the Radio Thermostat setup, there are also other
options out there, but I have 3 of them and are very happy with both the
thermostats and the app and how everything works very well together. I also
like the fact that the Radio Thermostat app has been updated quite often
both to improve stability and to add new features like the ability to set up
a schedule right from the app which was added in the last release. I think
Brett who had one installed after I gave him my positive feedback is also
happy with it. The actual thermostat is affordable and the app is free.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: Thermostat with accessible iPhone App

2012-07-30 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Sachin,

Brett purchased the same units I have had for about a year or so, I have 1
at my house and 2 at my business and as Brett mentioned, the app is very
accessible and the most recent update now includes a scheduler. Before you
could set a schedule, but it had to be done on the website which, at least
the last time I tried it, was not very Jaws friendly. I posted about the
Radio Thermostat a couple of times, so maybe take a look at the archives, I
am in Canada and the only place I found them was on Amazon. Do keep in mind
that these have to be installed by a professional, because of the WiFi
module the thermostat requires a 24 Volt line in addition to the normal I
think it is 3 leads that go to your furnace; most furnaces do have a
terminal for the 24 Volt line, but a normal thermostat does not require that
much power.

Good luck,

Sieghard
