Re: To swim with apple watch or not? That is the question

2023-08-25 Thread Richard Turner
I agree that would be ideal, but since VO depends on touch gestures, which do
not work when fingers or watch is wet, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
But a good request to submit to Apple.

2023-08-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
A sighted person can still see some information when the watch is in waterlock
and I would expect that even with waterlock is turned on Voiceover would still
read whatever a sighted person sees on the screen, specifically basic
information about your workout.

I understood that the idea is you cannot use the watch while wet, which is why
you have to use the water lock plus it prevents damage to watch. Drying it off
before turning off water lock is important. I'll be surprised if that is any
different in the 9. No one knows what the redesign for the x or 10 will be at
this stage.

RE: To swim with apple watch or not? That is the question

2023-08-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
"the screen acting up a bit" is an understatement.
I find the watch is quite useless when water lock is turned on, I also have a
fifth generation Apple Watch and I wear it when doing pool swims which is good,
but if I loose track of my number of laps and I want to check I so far have not
found it possible to do so unless you totally stop, turn waterlock off and then
preferably have a small towel handy to wipe the screen and the watch because if
the screen and your fingers are wet it does many things but usually not what I
want.
I am tempted to maybe consider getting an Apple Watch 9th Generation this fall
because the rumours are it is getting a new chip which one expects would make
it a lot faster and responsive and maybe that would help. I must say that I did
definitely notice an improvement when we switched from the second Generation
watch which were our first Apple Watches to the fifth generation. But then
again there are already rumours that we will probably see much more
significant advances and possibly even a complete design change in a year when
the Apple Watch X or 10 will come uout so I may just have to stick with my 5
for another year because I definitely don't feel like upgrading my watch ever
year or even 2 or 3. Next fall we would have had our apple Watch 5 for 5 years
which is at least a bit more acceptable and then hopefully whatever they come
out with then will last another 5 or 6.

when wet at times, have never had any problems.

Swimming with it is not an issue , these watches are designed to withstand
water pressure for recreational swimming, just do not dive with it..

Swimming with it is not an issue , these watches are designed to withstand
water pressure for recreational swimming, just do not dive with it..

I regularly swim with my watch 5, and apart from the screen acting up a bit
when wet at times, have never had any problems.
