Hello Simon,

OCR is an interesting case. What device are you comparing your iPhone 11 with
and with what app. Have you found your results to have been significantly
improved?

OCR for reading documents,

Photos in general

I'm waiting until the 13's or what ever they will be called are released and
then will re assess my requirements as that will put my 11 at 2 years old,

As for the resale value of the 11 pro max,

We don't get the ability here to trade in the old device,
And even if we did it would be through a service provider not apple as we don't
have their stores here in NZ,

But I could sell it privately through our online trading system called trade me,
Or word of mouth and get 5 or 6 hundred dollars for it as it's in excelant
condition,

The problem really is that the SE 2020 is so cheaply priced that an old phone
even of the 11 range would be difficult to sell.

And in my opinion the benefits of the Pro phones are not there for most blind
people, the regular iPhone 11 would be your best choice if you really need to
upgrade now. Once again in my opinion the 12 series of phones will be
remembered as being of lesser value just like the 5, 6 and 7 phones were
compared to the 5S, 6S and 8 and this year's phones in September will probably
again be a much more compelling update given that most likely even the regular
13 model will have Lidar and not just the Pro phones and potentially Lidar has
very big potential for apps such as Seeing AI and others. If you are somebody
who likes to keep their phone for 3-5 years which it seems you are you will
also get second generation 5G support which would be important. If you can at
all stretch your original SE into September you really may be glad you did and
if you plan to resell it checking into replacing the battery might be a good
thing, it would give you a much better experience for these final 5 months and
you would probably easily recoop the money spent on it when you sell it. As it
is no longer under warranty and if you live in a larger place where third party
repair shops exist you could inquire also with a reputable third party place as
you could probably get a new battery for less than what Apple would charge. I
would check into both options and then decide.

Yeah the 11 has a really nice price for what's under the hood. But for those
working under a little tighter budget, the 10R is a good value. I originally
paid $749 for mine. But absolutely a good choice with the 11 with the extra
year of support and software updates.

deal through my carrier last fall and upgraded from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone
11 and the fantastic battery life of the 11 alone made it a worthwhile upgrade.

and others. If you are somebody who likes to keep their phone for 3-5 years
which it seems you are you will also get second generation 5G support which
would be important. If you can at all stretch your original SE into September
you really may be glad you did and if you plan to resell it checking into
replacing the battery might be a good thing, it would give you a much better
experience for these final 5 months and you would probably easily recoop the
money spent on it when you sell it. As it is no longer under warranty and if
you live in a larger place where third party repair shops exist you could
inquire also with a reputable third party place as you could probably get a new
battery for less than what Apple would charge. I would check into both options
and then decide.

I completely agree, but for anybody who likes their phones to last for as long
as possible the 11 will probably offer an additional year of iOS updates and in
my opinion it is always better to get a newer phone rather than an older one,
but not necessarily the newest. I took advantage of a good deal through my
carrier last fall and upgraded from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 11 and the
fantastic battery life of the 11 alone made it a worthwhile upgrade.

You could also go buy the 10R for $499 or the 11 for $599 and get the best
phones Apple has ever made. My 10R turns 2 years old today and my battery
health is still 91 percent. This phone has been rock solid and could last
another two years or so. I've had the original SE, the 7, 8 and now the 10R.
Unless you just have to have 5G, consider the 10R or 11.

Yeah the 11 has a really nice price for what's under the hood. But for
those working under a little tighter budget, the 10R is a good value. I
originally paid $749 for mine. But absolutely a good choice with the 11
with the extra year of support and software updates.

Re: iPhone 12 Pro Max questions

2021-04-13 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
For me, the max phones are just to large. I want a phone that can
rest comfortably in my hand. I'd get a 12 pro now except that the 13
will be coming out soon.

RE: iPhone 12 Pro Max questions

2021-04-13 Thread Jim Fettgather
I have a 12 Pro Max, and would not look back.
I am so delightfully happy that I got it, for the camera, the stereo sound
through the fairly large speakers, the screen real estate for Braille Screen
input, it is just an incredible phone. No regrets.

2021-04-13 Thread davycuppens
Hi Lisa mmm difficult to say

As we are almost half April and new phones will come out in September if I were
you I would wait to buy a brand new phone now as the Iphone 13 will have better
specs and at least new 5g technology on board. I have my iphone XR now with a
very large and good battery; a pro max seems too big for me but on the other
hand I understand why you want such a phone because of the bigger and better
battery.

Re: iPhone 12 Pro Max questions

2021-04-13 Thread Brad Snyder
Currently I have the iPhone 12 pro, and I had the iPhone X before that. both
are very close in size to the current iPhone SE 2020. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is
much larger.
I had no problem making the switch to the iPhone without a home button. In fact
I found the transfer essentially seamless and the new gestures very natural.
Now, I really prefer an iPhone that does not have a home button.
My wife has the iPhone SE 2020, and while it's a good device, my iPhone 12 pro
is vastly superior. The battery in my 12 Pro last much longer then on my wife's
phone.
It's hard to say if the iPhone 12 pro is worth more than double the money of
the iPhone SE 2020. I think that's a personal choice that must be made by the
individual, but I'm happy I went with the 12 pro and would do it again without
hesitation.

Re: iPhone 12 Pro Max questions

2021-04-13 Thread Ignacio Suarez
Hi Lisa. I have been having my iPhone promax for several months, and I love it.
It is a little difficult to use it from the beginning if you’re not used to
using a phone without the home button, but once you get used to it it becomes
easier than the phone with the button. Especially if you use face recognition.
As for the size, at the beginning it also takes a little adjustment to finding
the buttons since your fingers are used to Tapping on a smaller screen, but you
should be able to adapt to all of that. As for the battery, I can tell you it
does last longer then the other phones. I watch several videos throughout the
day and I’m only charging my phone once at night and that should last till the
following night. Of course it depends how much usage you give to the phone. as
for recording videos, my wife uses my camera to take pictures and videos. She
highly recommends this camera due to the high resolution of the videos and
pictures. I hope my comment benefits your decision.

I have an 11, and never had problems from adjusting from the SE. You just learn
the gestures well without Home Button, and that's that, you're good to go. I
never had a problem.
