Hello Dennis,

I recommend buying Office365 subscription, as this will give you access to the
desktop and web apps, and it will mean that, under the subscription, you won't
have to worry about buying a new version of Office every time the new one gets
released. You can compare plans at
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products?tab=1&culture=en-us&country=US

Note that you can buy plans at a yearly discounted rate, or for some, it may be
easier to swallow the monthly subscription price. The individual subscription
for just one person and machine is $69/year or $6.99/month, and the premium for
multiple machines is $99/year or $9.99/month.

While you can find full versions of Office at a discounted rate, you will have
to keep purchasing new versions or fall behind on updates, so I really don't
recommend it.

RE: purchasing office

2022-08-05 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is usually a new version every 3 years so if you were to buy the latest
version each time and assuming the price is $250 then you would buy 3 versions
for a total of $750.
I also thought the US price for an individual Microsoft 365 subscription is
$59.99 a year. Furthermore if you do have a few people who need to have Office
then for $100 or so a year you can get the subscription which allows up to 5
people to download a full version of Office and use it, that is only
$20/year/person.

As for updates, Office via a Microsoft 365 subscription gets much more frequent
updates and these include feature updates and not just security update.

Lastly, the Microsoft 365 subscription also includes 1 Tb of OneDrive storage,
that alone is a huge bonus unless you really have no use for online storage.

I believe you also get some things with a subscription Microsoft 365 that you
won't get when you purchase the desktop apps, such 1TB of storage in One Drive.
Seems like you also get more functionality out of the apps on your phone as
well. Of course, if this isn't important to you then it doesn't need to figure
into your decision. Having all of my documents on my PC in One Drive and then
being able to access them from my phone, has been a big help on multiple

RE: purchasing office

2022-08-05 Thread Rena
I wonder if this version is the most convenient in reference to price. In 10
years you spend $700, but buying the full version for $250 or so, you spend
less money as the full version lasts for a few years.

Hello Dennis,

I recommend buying Office365 subscription, as this will give you access to the
desktop and web apps, and it will mean that, under the subscription, you won't
have to worry about buying a new version of Office every time the new one gets
released. You can compare plans at

 &culture=en-us&country=US

Note that you can buy plans at a yearly discounted rate, or for some, it may be
easier to swallow the monthly subscription price. The individual subscription
for just one person and machine is $69/year or $6.99/month, and the premium for
multiple machines is $99/year or $9.99/month.

While you can find full versions of Office at a discounted rate, you will have
to keep purchasing new versions or fall behind on updates, so I really don't
recommend it.

well, at least Jaws seems to focus very much on this, not sure about NVDA.

Yes, security updates to 2016, not to new features or versions. Which is fine

Re: purchasing office

Hello Dennis,

I recommend buying Office365 subscription, as this will give you access to
the desktop and web apps, and it will mean that, under the subscription,
you won't have to worry about buying a new version of Office every time the
new one gets released. You can compare plans at
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products?tab=1&culture=en-us&country=US

Note that you can buy plans at a yearly discounted rate, or for some, it
may be easier to swallow the monthly subscription price. The individual
subscription for just one person and machine is $69/year or $6.99/month,
and the premium for multiple machines is $99/year or $9.99/month.

While you can find full versions of Office at a discounted rate, you will
have to keep purchasing new versions or fall behind on updates, so I really
don't recommend it.
