Re: Tracking distance walked

2023-08-13 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Look in Privacy and Security settings.
There is a “Motion and and Fitness” button in this

First the checkbox at the top has to be on or else no apps can track your steps.
I then see that the following apps on my phone have access to motion and
fitness:
• Health
• Seeing AI
• Sound Scape
• Transit

Do you have location services turned

Steps do not necessarily but I have never seen a case where my

Re: Tracking distance walked

2023-08-09 Thread Donald Raikes
Until two weeks ago when I got my apple watch I would carry my iPhone
in my front pocket and it tracked my steps pretty well.
I haven't tried just carrying my phone while I leave the watch
connected to the charger to see if maybe when the phone and watch are
paired that the step counting is disabled on the phone for some
reason.

I use my wife’s old Fitbit charge as she’s now an Apple watch user. I strap it
to my ankle and forget about it. The ankle thing is actually pretty accurate,
but the heart rate monitor feature isn’t reliable when you put it down there.
The Fitbit unit itself isn’t accessible, but the iOS app is completely VO
accessible. Very handy as I have a treadmill as well as an exercise bike.

I also use the vibrating alarm feature as my alarm in the morning so I don’t
wake up my wife who is absolutely not a morning person

I was bummed because there was a weekend where I had gone on vacation

I had walked about a million steps during those couple days, but they never

I have Blind Square, Good Maps Outdoors, and Apple Maps on my iPhone. I would
like to use one of them to measure the distance I have walked. Is there a way

Thanks.

My wife doesn’t have an Apple Watch, and her iPhone tracks her steps, distance

Hi,

I have Blind Square, Good Maps Outdoors, and Apple Maps on my iPhone. I would
like to use one of them to measure the distance I have walked. Is there a way
to do that?

Thanks.

I don't use it myself, but my wife gets this information out of the Health app

BlindSquare is supposed to do that, but some folks have found it a little
inconsistent.

I use a free app called Pedometer++ that seems to work well.
