I did what you said, Richard, and I'm pleased to report that all my folders
made it through the Cloud sync intact. Yay!

Thanks,

The thing some of us, especially me, is confused about is maybe what
books you had in the VDR 4 on your new phone?
I thought you had all your books on the 4s. Or, were you confused
between doing a regular iOS iCloud backup and the new VDR iCloud
 sync?
If that is the case, the two methods have nothing in common.
In order for you to use the iCloud sync:
 1. you have to have iCloud Drive turned on.
Two, you have to have books in VDR running version 4 and enable iCloud
 sync.
 3. You have to wait until it no longer says syncing after the book
 titles.
 4. You now have that library in iCloud drive in a folder called
 Reader.
Then, any device you install VDR 4 on and turn on iCloud sync will
 download that library.

So, if you didn't sync the 4s library first, there is nothing for the
 new phone to sync.
Or am I simply completely missing your point?

2016-04-09 Thread Richard Turner

On the top of the screen, where it says filter, double tap.
Then, flick right until you get to filter by folders and double tap.
There you get to your folders and the option to filter by "no folder."
That is where the things not in folders will show up.

So, Winston didn't get back to me, but I thought I'd try things again,
especially after VDR got a minor update to version 4. I updated to the
latest version of VDR on my 4S and 6S, turned on Cloud sync, and let
things sit for a while. I can report that things came over
beautifully! Well, except for my folders. Speaking of folders, has
anyone else noticed the move to folder option in the actions part of

Can someone explain to me how you can see only the files that haven't
been moved into folders? A little confused on that. Also, when I
create a folder, how can I get to them? Does a folders button appear
on the app's main screen like before?

If you did not previously use VDR'S iCloud sync feature then there
would have been nothing in iCloud Drive for the new phone to sync
 with.
If you did an incrypted backup of the 4s, try restoring that backup
to the 4s which should put back the library that was there when you
 backed it up.
Then update VDR to version 4 and do the sync, then everything should
show up on your new phone.

I'm still confused.
What was on the 6s?
You said the 6s was the new phone. Did you have any books on it?

If you did not previously use VDR'S iCloud sync feature then there would
have been nothing in iCloud Drive for the new phone to sync with.
If you did an incrypted backup of the 4s, try restoring that backup to the
4s which should put back the library that was there when you backed it up.
Then update VDR to version 4 and do the sync, then everything should show
 up on your new phone.
At least, from what you said, that is what I think.
 Best of luck,
 Richard

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread englishrider91
Richard, you're right. ICloud Drive is on on the 6S, and I didn't do anything
with the 4S other than to delete the library. I thought what would happen was
that the library on the 6S would sync to iCloud, and then I'd have the backup
in iCloud, but the library would actually remain on the phone, and if I added
something new, or read further in a book, it would be backed up to iCloud
again, syncing the new changes. I am extremely frustrated.

Thanks,
Ari

Oh, thank God! Maybe I'll just leave it sitting on all night with VDR in the

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Mary Otten
Well, this will be a good way to get my PDF files and other downloads over to
iCloud. And onto my iPad. I am not sure that I want all that huge library from
my iPad on my phone however. That sounds like a whole lot of deleting will be
happening after everything is synced up.

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Richard Turner

I'm going to guess that if you have the same book on both devices, you will
have to delete it from both devices in order for it to be deleted from iCloud
Drive.
I'm not sure.

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Richard Turner

Mary,
I have an iPhone and an iPod Touch.
I had most of my books on the iPod Touch 6.
I had some different books on the iPhone.
After updating the Touch to VDR 4, and syncing the library, I updated the
iPhone, to VDR 4 and enabled iCloud sync.
Now, both the Touch and the iPhone have the same books on them.
At some point, I will delete books off the iPhone. But, I was curious if what
you were asking about was the case and indeed it is.

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Regina Alvarado

Yes. Both have all the books, and yes, each had it's own library. Today I added
about 10 books from BKS on my iPad, and when I just entered VDR on iPhone these
10 books entered the library. Interesting, however, when I opened VDR on the
phone, the screen said unavailable at each space for a book. I was scared, but
then I saw synching with iCloud and in about 1.5 minutes every book was there.
I suspect that synch wait will be there every time you change devices. I have
since updated to 4.02 and perhaps the process will go faster? Not a deal
breaker though. I can wait for 1.5 minutes to read. Question: If I delete a
book and it disappears, where does it go? I hope it is not held in iCloud as
space which is free is not unlimited.

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Richard Turner

Hi,
Yes, you can use the iCloud Sync with one device just as a backup.
The thing some of us, especially me, is confused about is maybe what books you
had in the VDR 4 on your new phone?
I thought you had all your books on the 4s. Or, were you confused between doing
a regular iOS iCloud backup and the new VDR iCloud sync?
If that is the case, the two methods have nothing in common.
In order for you to use the iCloud sync:
1. you have to have iCloud Drive turned on.
Two, you have to have books in VDR running version 4 and enable iCloud sync.
3. You have to wait until it no longer says syncing after the book titles.
4. You now have that library in iCloud drive in a folder called Reader.
Then, any device you install VDR 4 on and turn on iCloud sync will download
that library.

So, if you didn't sync the 4s library first, there is nothing for the new phone
to sync.
Or am I simply completely missing your point?
Richard

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread Mary Otten
Maybe I'm dense, but I don't see why you couldn't do what you want. If you back
up a library using the iCloud sink, then uninstall Voice Dream, then reinstall
it on the same machine, and enable iCloud sink, all of your things are supposed
to be there. That is how I understood Winston's response to me, when I was
asking him about uninstalling after having uploaded things to iCloud. As it
happens, I did not have to do that on installation, because the voices did come
back to my phone which had previously been purchased but had not been there
since my upgrade last fall.

Re: VDR Library appears to be gone after turning on iCloud sync.

2016-04-01 Thread englishrider91
I actually deleted the library on the 4S before updating to VDR 4.0. I haven'n
updated to 4.0 on the 4S yet. I haven't made a backup of the 4S in a few days,
but I can restore it and see how that goes. I hope this works. I do wish that
you could do the iCloud sync thing even if you do only have one iOS device.
Maybe it's just me' but I'd like to treat the iCloud sync feature as a backup
method, as well as a feature in and of itself.

Thanks,
Ari

2016-04-01 Thread Richard Turner
Did you install VDR 4 on your 4s first, sync the library to iCloud, then get
your 6s and turn on iCloud sync on it to download the library you had on the 4s?
If you did not previously use VDR'S iCloud sync feature then there would have
been nothing in iCloud Drive for the new phone to sync with.
If you did an incrypted backup of the 4s, try restoring that backup to the 4s
which should put back the library that was there when you backed it up.
Then update VDR to version 4 and do the sync, then everything should show up on
your new phone.
At least, from what you said, that is what I think.
Best of luck,
Richard

I saw an article in some tech magazine earlier today about have some users were
having iCloud problems. Perhaps that is what happened with you, and perhaps it
will come back when whatever the iCloud problem is is fixed. I certainly hope
so.
