Apple still at the end of the day views itself more as a luxury brand. They'll
tell you that the needs of lower income markets can be met by older phones in
the secondary markets. I.E. Used or refurbished i-devices.

I'd go with the 5s because it was the first of the 64 bit iPhones. Eevery

I'm not sure why Apple came out with the 5C other than to tap into the

Question to you all, however. Is anyone using an iPhone 5S here anymore? Is it

I would love any answers/feedback on this question.

Thanks,

I have a 5S and am a fairly advanced user and have no plans on upgrading until
this phone dies.
It works great with iOS 9.1.

Yeah my friend Michelle is planning to get me an iPhone 5S for my birthday, as
a late birthday gift. My mother controls when I get new phones, and since she
got me an Android phone not too long ago, me getting an iPhone for her would be
an absolute no and she wouldn’t do it. But Michelle was like it is unfair that
she had an iPod and Android and I just had the Android. She wanted me to enjoy
iOS just like she can, too. Especially since I have a condition similar to
Cerebral Paulsy called Hemiplegia which makes me only have use of my left side.
Therefore, there are more iOS games that I can play than computer games.

Anyways, thanks again.

Let's hope the 5c is still around! If someday ny 4s hits the dust, I'd like to
get the 5c, which I thought Apple is going to discontinue this modle? I'd also
añppreciate info. The 4s is second-hand, thus it never huts to be prepared just
in case. Thanks for info.

Hello, I have also thought about that, too. the 5 or 5C would need replacement
in about 2 years, the 5s may last an additional 1 or 2.

Hello,
RK, thanks, a lot; just what I needed. Unfortunately, carriers won't apply to
me, am in the UK. Just because I'm interested, what's
the difference between the 5C and 5?

Sent from an iPad. Please excuse any spelling errors.

Re: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

2015-11-27 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
I think the original case was the most technically challenging to make, so they
had to use the over-production of 5 chassies on
something, so made life easier for themselves by re-packing it into something
simpler and more importantly, cheaper to make. The 5S
was launched as flagship and the 5C was the lesser model for public
consumption, not the 5 as originally launched.

That is as I understood it, but it's getting a while ago now.

Hello,
Not sure. If that's all that is different, why would it be a different model?

Also running a 4s with iOS9.1, thus a 5s would definitely a great investment!

2015-11-27 Thread Portia Scott
I would have gotten an iPod, but there are still some games that I like, and
some apps, that you have to use an iPad or iPhone. And sadly, iPads aren’t
cheap either. $799? Shall we say, yikes? And I used to have an iPad Mini 1, but
it locked me out of it, so well… it is gone. And she feels bad about it and
wants to get me something to replace it. And I would still use the phone I
have, just yes it was a birthday gift from my mother, just would like to be
able to have something to use to use these apps and games, but can’t get an
iPad.

I don't know the Android platform at all well, or just at all; but know
there's more to iOs than just VoiceOver and braille
support, so the iPhone or to suit you very well, and there's more than enough
of us here to offer support and encouragement.

Glad you got a friend that is prepaired to buck the control loop too.
The one possible complication then, is two phones needing two
simms/numbers/contracts, etc. So an iPod might have been enough and
keep Android as the phone if you get on with it alright.

Mother is not going to like the thought of her gift being put aside so soon I
guess.
I presume it was her gift, and not her buying on your behalf at your expense?
not our business and don't feel obliged to answer
that, just know it happens.

Yeah my friend Michelle is planning to get me an iPhone 5S for my birthday, as
a late birthday gift. My mother controls when I get
new phones, and since she got me an Android phone not too long ago, me getting
an iPhone for her would be an absolute no and she
wouldn’t do it. But Michelle was like it is unfair that she had an iPod and
Android and I just had the Android. She wanted me to
enjoy iOS just like she can, too. Especially since I have a condition similar
to Cerebral Paulsy called Hemiplegia which makes me
only have use of my left side. Therefore, there are more iOS games that I can
play than computer games.

Anyways, thanks again.

Hello,
Thanks all; been also wondering about this, as am looking into my first ever
phone, and was looking at the 5s. Would something like
the 5 or 5C still worth getting? Or should I look at the 5s, instead?

RE: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

2015-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Definitely get a 5S. The 5 and 5C are now officially discontinued and the 5S
was a pretty major upgrade since it has the A7 chip which was the first 64 Bit
chip, it also has Touch Id and it's definitely a much better phone than the 5
or 5C. I heard here in Canada you can get a 5S for $0 right now with a 2-year
contract from some of the carriers.

Sieghard

2015-11-27 Thread Cristóbal
I suppose you can also make the case that the 5C at this point is going to have
one less year of wear and tear on it than the 5 as it was released a year
after the 5 even though the specs are the same. I'm using a 5C as my second
line for business and it works perfectly fine. No issues for what it's needed
for.

Yes, the 5S still works very well. I'm using one now but will upgrade when I
can. The main reason for me upgrading is for the storage space I've read
that the six and sixPlus have.

Hello all,

I know I haven’t posted in a huge long while, but one of my best friend’s
wants to get me an iPhone 5S unlocked from Amazon.

Question to you all, however. Is anyone using an iPhone 5S here anymore? Is
it still usable and relevant anymore these days?

I would love any answers/feedback on this question.

Thanks,

Portia.

The 5 and the 5C are still worth getting, but yes, you should definitely
look at the 5s. The 5s will perform better and be supported longer, so
if you can afford it, you should definitely consider it.

Hello, you're very quite welcome. You are thing I worry about is if you're
wanting to put AppleCare on it, because they may not let you since you're
getting it from Amazon. With that said, make sure did you get to keep your
current cell phone just in case something does happen to this other one that
you're purchasing. And if you have any other questions feel free to get all me
and I will be glad to answer them.

Re: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

2015-11-26 Thread Portia Scott
Yeah I’m on my mother’s T-Mobile plan, which has the jump feature. But owing to
the fact that she controls when I get a new phone, and all that, I have to find
my own way to get an iPhone, and don’t have the $800 to $1000 for the newest
one. Sad, I know. That’s why my friend wanted to buy me an iPhone, and the only
thing I could think of was the 5S. But I know it is older, and that’s why I
wasn’t sure of it’s usefulness with the latest software and such.

Thanks to those who responded, and happy Thanksgiving.

Re: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

2015-11-26 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm running IOS 9 on a 4S and an iPhone 5, and they're both very usable,
so an iPhone 5s would perform even better. With IOS 9 supporting the 4S,
I'd assume IOS 10 and probably even 11 would support the 5s.

I'd assume IOS 10 and probably even 11 would support the 5s.

Re: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

2015-11-26 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
Anything that still works is relevant. They still work and are still supported.
I tire of this throw away age where $500-700 can be
discarded as finished in under two years. I still use my 5S, and the 4S even
more. I haven't updated 4S mind.

I'd happily accept a free gift like that without having to ask if it was worth
it.
But no one ever offered, or offers.

Subject: iPhone 5S still relevant and usable?

Hello all,

I know I haven’t posted in a huge long while, but one of my best friend’s wants
to get me an iPhone 5S unlocked from Amazon.

Question to you all, however. Is anyone using an iPhone 5S here anymore? Is it
still usable and relevant anymore these days?

I would love any answers/feedback on this question.

Thanks,

Portia.
