RE: watch series 4, to just wifi or cellular that is the question
If you don't get the cellular version you can't leave your iPhone behind for some of the things. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of regina alvarado Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2018 11:04 PM To: Viphone Subject: watch series 4, to just wifi or cellular that is the question Hi once again, since there is no dumb question except the one not asked I will ask. Can someone help this old lady understand why would anyone buy a series 4 Apple watch with no cellular, just wifi? I can understand iPad or iPhone since you can use wifi at work or home and you can hook into wifi in some places. However, the watch does actually tell you the time, among every other thing it can do, right? So you wear it all day, but sometimes you go outside. Is there enough wifi around to keep the watch running or does it run off your phone's cellular or wifi? Curious. Going to buy a series 4 watch so which should I get? Re: watch series 4, to just wifi or cellular that is the question
I don't have an Apple Watch, but I'd assume there are still quite a few things it can do without a network connection, such as tell the time, notify you of upcoming calendar events, keep track of your step count, log your workout activity, give you turn by turn directions and so on. Like I said, I don't have an Apple Watch, but isn't this the case? On 09/22/2018 11:15 PM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: For things like the time the watch doesn't need any connection. Some MVNO's may not even support cellular for an Apple Watch since it is using the e-SIM technology and then again even a cellular Apple Watch is not completely a stand-alone device and a connection to the iPhone is need to set up the watch and for maybe a few other things. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of regina alvarado Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2018 8:04 PM To: Viphone Subject: watch series 4, to just wifi or cellular that is the question Hi once again, since there is no dumb question except the one not asked I will ask. Re: watch series 4, to just wifi or cellular that is the question
I went with the cellular version, because I love the idea of not needing to have my phone along. It's one of the major things that excited me about the watch, but if you know for sure you plan on keeping your phone with you at all times, and you are buying the watch out right anyways save a few dollars and go with the gps model.
