LG screen driver
Hello Help I have a LG 48 inch plasma TV. Model RT-50PZ45V I have connected my Mac G5 1.6GHz sys 10.3.6 to it using the DVI cable. I only have a LG PDP50K driver showing in my Displays Preferences which has a maximum display of 1280 x 1024 ( stretched picture in the middle of my screen.) The plasma manual only goes to a maximum of 1280 x 1024 connecting to a PC. The plasma would make a big working area if I could use all of it. Regards from Alan.

Create the movie in it's PAL state, then when you are happy with what you have you can export it creating the relevant mpeg or file format you are after including size, of course options in FCP will surpass those offered in iMovie. If it is the web you are specifically aiming at I would suggest looking into Flash, but still edit and capture your imagery via FCP preferably, but iMovie will suffice. But, their are many and varied options within scenarios etc. etc... Will Final Cut Pro enable me to work at smaller sizes? (ie to produce movies for the web etc) Cheers, Darren. HTH Cheer! Rob

Wi-Fi Defence
Hi Wamugers, After allowing my neighbours to use my Wireless Network while they waited for Telstra to open more ADSL Ports. I was amazed at how easy it is to access another Wireless Network. So I've been searching for ways to make it 'more difficult' or at least know if someone is trying to use my Network. This is a good article the program 'Wi-Fi Defense sounds promising to defend a wired network. Has anyone had experience with this program ? http://theage.com.au/news/The-Edge/Psst-someones-prying-in-your-wifi/ 2004/12/08/1102182304144.html# We tend to be somewhat blasé about technology but when we first installed a wi-fi network we were struck by the sheer wonder of all those packets of data flying around the Bleeding Edge cave, free of the constraints of cable. Then we started thinking about the fact that, what with being free of the constraints of cable, they also fly around the immediate neighbourhood so that anyone nearby could also detect our network. We wanted a little more control, and we got it with a program called Wi-Fi Defense, from a Colorado company called Oto Software. It's a highly attractive application with a great user interface, that is easy to use and, for $US30 ($A39), will also defend your wired network. Cheers, Ronni When Microsoft asks you, Where do you want to go today? Tell them, Apple!

Within the Airport Base Station Utility, you can tell your Base Station to only connect to cards that MAC addresses are listed. Furthermore, you can also start WPA (as long as you are running 10.3, and have an Extreme Base Station or Airport Express). Reduces the amount of people you can have connected, but obviously that little more secure. BTW, you must have a good range in your house for Airport! I'm lucky to get outside of my little unit! Seeya Rod! PS Go Dockers in 2005! (Just for you Ronnie ;-)
Re: Partitions - do I need them?
Thanks to Bob, Greg, Peter Glen for their input. I have decided I shall still partition the disk, I still boot in OS9 occasionally, I am not ready to give it up yet. Diana

Re: LG screen driver
I'm not sure exactly what your asking here. Are you having trouble getting it to work at all or just at a desired resolution? If your having trouble with resolutions then you need to find out what your max resolution for your graphics card is. Ruben A. Franke Hello Help I have a LG 48 inch plasma TV. Cloning/Partitioning/Restoring - advice needed
I have cloned my OSX partition onto a firewire drive and I am using that as my start up disk. I have copied all my files and applications to Graham's G5 iMac. Can I now re-partition the disk and reinstall OSX 10.3.3 from the FW drive? If so, I presume I do this by running Carbon Copy Cloner again so I have put a copy on the FW drive. Also a screen shot of the files to restore. Is there anything else I need? I also have a Retrospect Backup of my OS9 partition on the FW drive and I have copied Retrospect to the FW drive. Will I be able to restore OS9 to a new partition? Should I first re-start using the new OSX partition? Then (hopefully) I shall retrieve my other files and applications from the iMac. Does this sound a reasonable approach? If not it will be back to the Panther CD and start all over. I could have done without this hassle so close to Christmas! Diana
Epson Printer Problems
Hi I have an Epson C80 colour inkjet printer and mac runnning 10.3.6. I replaced the cartridges with epson replacements for the correct model. It is printing blank pages. I have run the nozzle check and the head cleaner numerous times. The status monitor shows that the cartridges are full, yet it prints but the pages are blank. Please has anyone got any ideas? Can you suggest where to send for repair? Re: Editing non-standard size movies
My apologies for not making this clearer - the source footage is coming in from: 1) a digital camera, (320x240 @ 15fps) 2) a Nokia 6230, (???x??? @ ??fps) 3) little Macromedia Flash movies made at 400x300, 15fps So as you can see I don't want any of this scaled up to 720x576!! I'd much rather work with the footage at 400x300 rather than scale up and then scale back down (as would be the case using iMovie). If Adobe Premiere is no longer an option I have been hanging out to find a reason to get the Producers Pack (Final Cut Pro HD, Motion, DVD Studio Pro) but that'd also mean getting a new G5! Thanks for the advice, Darren.
